New coronavirus revelation explains why outbreaks got so bad, so quickly
- French doctors studying cases with flu-like symptoms in Paris found that the first coronavirus patient was admitted to the hospital in mid-December 2019, more than a month before the first confirmed COVID-19 case in France.
- The research indicates that the disease may have begun spreading through France even earlier than that.
- The research doesn’t explain where this patient was infected, and the person had not visited China before showing flu-like symptoms.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
France is one of the European countries hardest hit by the novel coronavirus, registering an estimated 170,000 patients, of which 25,201 had died at the time of this writing. The number isn’t exact because France realized in mid-April that a huge number of residents and medical personnel living in nursing homes are probably infected, although not all of them have received COVID-19 tests. On top of that, there may be thousands of other people who got the virus without exhibiting any symptoms, so they were never recorded as COVID-19 positive — the same hypothesis is valid for any country dealing with a local coronavirus outbreak, of course.
France has started looking back at patients who may have died after developing flu-like symptoms as early as of December 2019, finding evidence that the first COVID-19 case in the region may date back to late 2019, more than a month sooner than initially believed.

Coronavirus outbreak is the perfect time to get a touchless soap dispenser for $38
- Things like face masks and hand sanitizer are must-have products right now as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep across the country.
- There are other products that can also help people practice even better hygiene right now and one such example is a touchless soap dispenser.
- Simplehuman makes a popular motion-activated soap dispenser for $50, but we found one on sale at Amazon that works just as well and costs much less.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
There are a few things that everyone should have right now as the novel coronavirus continues to spread in regions all across the country. Up at the top of the list, of course, are face masks and hand sanitizer. The CDC recommends that everyone should wear a face mask every time you leave the house, and that recommendation is going to stand for at least the next few months. That’s why our readers have swarmed Amazon to get the retailer’s best-selling 3-layer face masks, which are back in stock right now.
Hand sanitizer is also very important to have right now and you should use it liberally every time you touch any surface that might have virus on it. Sanitizer has been almost as difficult as face masks to come by lately, but it’s finally back in stock at Amazon. Of course, there’s another product related to hygiene that you should consider getting, and it’s as cool as it is useful in the age of COVID-19: A touchless soap dispenser.
Anytime things like groceries, packages, mail, and anything else comes into your home, you need to sanitize it. Then you obviously need to wash your hands. Also if you’re still ordering food from restaurants for delivery or takeout, you need to dispose of all the containers and then wash your hands. If you think about it though, you have to touch your soap dispenser before you clean your hands so there’s always a possibility of virus transfer. That won’t be the case any longer if you pick up a Nozama Touchless Stainless Steel Soap Dispenser! Just place your hand under the nozzle and the dispenser squirts the perfect amount of soap into your hand. It’s awesome, and it costs way less than the simplehuman version that has become so popular.
Nozama Automatic Soap Dispenser Equipped with Stainless Steel, Adjustable Switches, Infrared Mo…: $37.98
Here are some of the key details from the product page on Amazon:
- TOUCH-FREE DISPENSER: Equipped with an infrared motion sensor, the soap dispenser will release hand lotion automatically when the sensor detects your hands. Perfect for your bathroom, kitchen, coffee bar, hotel.
- ADJUSTABLE SWITCHES: With 280ml/9.46oz capacity, and variable dispense control soap volume by adjusting +/- switch to control the liquid volume from 0.5 to 3ml. Compatible with most kinds of liquid, such as hand soap, hand lotion, and so on.
- WATERPROOF BASE: Designed with a waterproof base and rubber seals to prevent the battery compartment from getting soaked in water which causes corrosion and the dispenser to fail. In addition, there is no screw for the base, easy to separate it.
- DURABLE MATERIAL: This soap dispenser made of 304 fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, enhanced motor power offers a more stable quantity of produced liquid. Powered by 4 AAA batteries (Not included), one replacement can be used for about 3 months.
- WHAT YOU GET: 1 Year Warranty and Friendly Customer Service. If have any question in our product, please feel free to contact us, we will provide solutions within 24 hours.

Scientists finally explained one of the strangest coronavirus symptoms
- Scientists have looked at how the novel coronavirus behaves inside an artificial small intestine organoid made from stem cells.
- The new study reveals that the virus can infect some gastrointestinal cells in the same way it infects lung cells.
- These findings could explain the diarrhea and nausea that some COVID-19 patients experience, and the research could be used to determine whether fecal-oral transmission is a cause of concern.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
One of the qualities of the novel coronavirus that makes it so dangerous is that it doesn’t have many specific symptoms that are telltale signs of an infection. Instead, the most common symptoms include signs that present with other viral infections, including the flu. Fever, cough, and shortness of breath might make you think you’ve been infected, but it can be something else entirely. The sudden loss of taste or smell is the closest thing we have to a telltale COVID-19 symptom, but it doesn’t present itself in all those infected.
Other symptoms that can appear in COVID-19 cases can include sore throat, headache, muscle pain, and chills, but these can also develop in other conditions. Then there are gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea and vomiting. The CDC doesn’t include them in the list of COVID-19 symptoms but does mention that children might experience them. These gastrointestinal symptoms are unusual for respiratory diseases, but researchers have finally explained why it happens.

Apple’s newest iPad is down to Black Friday’s $250 price on Amazon
- Apple’s lineup of iPad tablets consists of the fastest, sleekest, and most powerful tablets in the world right now — but the best comes at a price.
- The 10.2-inch iPad model is Apple’s latest and greatest iPad, and it normally starts at $329.
- Amazon is running a terrific sale today that slashes the price of the 32GB iPad model from $329 to an all-time low of $249.99, and the 128GB iPad gets a discount as well.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Pretty much everyone out there knows that when it comes to tablets these days, there’s the iPad and then there’s everything else. In fact, even Android fans often admit that there’s nothing else out there quite like an iPad. Apple’s lineup of sleek metal slates offers speed and performance that are unmatched among tablets from Samsung and other Android device makers. That’s likely why the most popular Android tablets out there are Amazon’s various Fire tablet models. Why? Because Amazon recognized that no one can compete with Apple’s iPads on performance, so Fire tablets undercut iPads with rock-bottom prices — especially when Amazon has sales going. For example, the excellent Fire HD 8 Tablet costs $80, but you can save $59.99 right now and that’s a terrific deal!
Fire HD 8 Tablet (8″ HD Display, 16 GB) – Black: $59.99
That’s a killer deal indeed, but there’s no question that the Fire HD 8 is no match for an iPad. And if you’re looking for the kind of user experience that an iPad provides, Amazon’s tablet simply isn’t going to cut it. Lucky for you, Amazon is also hosting a great sale on iPads today that slashes up to $80 off the newest iPad Apple makes.
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 32GB) – Space Gray (Latest Model): $249.99
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) – Silver (Latest Model): $399.98
The 7th-generation iPad tablet is the perfect compromise between performance and price. It uses Apple’s powerful A10 Fusion chipset to provide the silky smooth mobile experience that users have come to expect from Apple’s iPads and iPhones, and the battery life is fantastic. Apple says it provides up to 10 hours of usage on a charge, but that’s constant usage. If you use your iPad for a couple of hours per day, it can easily go several days before you’ll need to charge it up again.
Apple’s 10.2-inch iPad starts at $329 for the 32GB model, and that’s exactly how much you’ll pay if you buy one right now from Apple. If you head over to Amazon instead, however, you’ll find it on sale for Black Friday’s price of just $249.99. If you need more space, it turns out that you’re in luck because you’ll find an even deeper discount on the 128GB 10.2-inch iPad. It normally sells for $429, but it has a slight discount right now at Amazon as well.
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 32GB) – Space Gray (Latest Model): $249.99
New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch, Wi-Fi, 128GB) – Silver (Latest Model): $399.98

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X rollout plans are finally official
- Microsoft revealed its plans for the Xbox Series X rollout ahead of the holiday launch.
- Every month, Microsoft “will be showcasing what happens next in the world of Xbox,” starting with a new episode of Inside Xbox on May 7th that will feature Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
- In July, Microsoft will reveal first-party games for the Xbox Series X.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
In a blog post on Tuesday, Xbox chief marketing officer Jerret West acknowledged just how difficult the past several weeks have been for everyone. 2020 was expected to be an exciting year for the video game industry, and Microsoft was going to be right in the middle of it with the reveal of its next-generation console at E3 in June. But the pandemic brought about by the novel coronavirus forced everyone to change their plans, including Microsoft.
Even amid all of the chaos, the Xbox team has adjusted rather gracefully, dropping major news about the Xbox Series X throughout the month of March and even showing us what the console looks like inside and out. According to West, that was just the beginning, and Microsoft has much more in store for the rest of 2020.
