This huge leak is almost definitely Apple’s final iPhone 12 Pro design
- Apple’s iPhone 12 release date is almost certainly delayed at this point if a recent report from The Wall Street Journal is to be believed.
- Production has supposedly been pushed back by a month and while a firm release date is still unknown, Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro designs have reportedly been finalized.
- Recent renders of the iPhone 12 Pro showed us a stunning new look, and now it seems certain that it is indeed Apple’s final iPhone 12 Pro design.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Reports have been going back for months regarding the timing of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 release. Several reports from reliable sources said that Apple’s release timing has been pushed back from its normal mid-September timeframe. At the same time, conflicting reports from sources that are typically just as reliable have said Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro phones would be released on time, though supply could be constrained at launch. The most recent news on the subject comes from The Wall Street Journal, and it’s not good. According to the paper’s sources, Apple has pushed back mass production of its upcoming new iPhone 12 models by one month. It’s unclear exactly how that might impact Apple’s iPhone 12 release date, but it’s certainly not what Apple fans wanted to hear. In light of everything that’s happening right now with the novel coronavirus pandemic, however, it certainly shouldn’t come as a surprise.
If you’re an Apple had who has been keeping your fingers crossed that the first redesigned iPhone lineup since 2017 would hit store shelves on time, this new report is likely to ruin your day. If it’s any consolation, however, we have plenty of reason to believe that the recent peek we took at Apple’s leaked iPhone 12 Pro design is indeed the real deal and Apple’s new iPhones will be just as stunning as the leaks have suggested.

Amazon has a special page full of face masks ready to ship out now
- The CDC recommends that everyone wear face masks anytime they have to leave their homes, and that recommendation will likely remain in place for weeks and months to come.
- While any face covering is believed to help, specially made multi-ply face masks with several layers of material do a better job than simple face coverings like bandanas and scarves.
- Amazon now has a special page on its website dedicated to face masks and other face protection, offering people plenty of options to protect themselves.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Head over to the coronavirus page on the CDC’s website right now, and you’ll see the following recommendation: “cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.” That means anytime you need to leave your house to do anything, be it shop for groceries, put gas in your car, or visit a doctor’s office, you need to wear something over your face. And here’s one more like from the CDC site that everyone should take note of: “Do NOT use a face mask meant for a healthcare worker.”
Any cloth face covering will play a big role in protecting you from the novel coronavirus as long as you also practice strict social distancing and good hygiene. Beyond that, it will protect other people around you in case you’re infected with COVID-19. This is crucial, but it doesn’t mean you should go buying up N95 face masks meant for healthcare workers and first responders. There’s a huge shortage of medical-grade masks right now, and using masks that are meant for people who are constantly at risk is shameful and selfish. That’s especially true since there are so many different options right now on Amazon that are in stock and ready to ship soon.
Face Masks and Protective Face Covers On Amazon: $8.99+
Amazon now has a special face mask page on its site that is dedicated solely to face masks and other protective covers. You’ll find plenty of different options there that range from surgical-style masks to various cloth covers. If you’d rather not browse through them all, we totally understand and we’re here to help. That’s why we’ve rounded up the three best-selling face masks on Amazon right now.
First, Pacli 3-Ply Face Masks are the single best selling masks on Amazon right now. These are great three-layer masks that do a much better job of protecting you and those around you than a bandana or most homemade masks. They’re available right now for $39.99 per box of 50, which works out to $0.80 per mask.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $39.99 ($0.80 / Mask)
Next up, we have similar 3-Layer Face Masks From Jointown. These are also top-sellers on Amazon right now and they do just as good a job as LeadPro’s masks. 50-packs are available right now for $38.99, which works out to just $0.78 per mask. That makes them even less expensive than the top-seller, but they typically take a day or two longer to be delivered.
Face Mask, Pack of 50: $38.99 ($0.78 / Mask)
Last but certainly not least, we have the Annuk Thick 4-Ply Face Shield. These masks are much thicker and more rigid than the first two options and they filter smaller particles as well. They’re also more expensive, but it’s not a bad idea to keep a few around for special circumstances like if you have to go to the hospital or a doctor’s office.

Some Galaxy S20 Ultra owners say the camera glass breaks easily
- Some Galaxy S20 Ultra owners say the glass that protects the rear-facing camera module can break with ease.
- Users claim their devices were protected by a case, and they haven’t dropped the phone.
- Replacing the broken glass can cost between $100 and $400, depending on whether you have Samsung Premium Care or not.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
When Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series, it shocked the world with its sky-high prices. The cheapest version costs $999 in the US before any discounts, which is $300 more expensive than the most affordable iPhone. The costliest version starts at $1,399, and that’s the Galaxy S20 Ultra that’s supposed to feature the best camera module Samsung made to date. But it turned out that the S20 didn’t become the sales success Samsung wanted it to be. The novel coronavirus pandemic certainly didn’t help, but it’s not like the Galaxy S20 line would have sold a record number of units in the pre-COVID-19 days. The best proof of that is that Samsung has started discounting the S20 phones a few weeks ago, providing buyers more incentives to buy one of the three new handsets, including a promotion that might make the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s price more bearable. It was a 50% price buyback guarantee, that practically lets you lease the phone for up to two years and then return it for something better. Crucially, the handset has to be in good condition for the promo to work. And it turns out the Galaxy S20 Ultra might have a serious camera problem, one that can’t be corrected with software. Apparently, some S20 Ultra discovered that the camera module lens is prone to cracking.

France’s coronavirus contact tracing app might not be based on the Apple-Google standard
- France’s coronavirus contact tracing app might not be based on the Apple-Google private standard.
- The StopCovid app is still in the works and could be deployed in the near future.
- Contradictory reports fuel confusion over France’s stance on the digital COVID-19 contact tracing app.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Governments around the world are looking to slowly open economies now that several countries moved past the peak of the novel coronavirus disease. But questions remain on how to do it. Social distancing will not go away for good, and life won’t return back to normal. There’s still no drug to treat COVID-19, and some vaccines might be available this fall in a best-case scenario. And even then, the early vaccines might only be deployed in an emergency use manner. That’s why coronavirus testing will have to continue until there’s a cure, and contact tracing measures will need to be significantly improved to control outbreaks when the virus returns in a community.
Apple and Google created the basis of a privacy-friendly smartphone app that works on iPhone and Android to inform users that they may have been exposed to someone who later tested positive for COVID-19. However, not everyone is happy with the Apple-Google way of digitally tracing coronavirus contacts. The UK has already confirmed that it wants to go at it using a different type of Bluetooth-based app that allows it to keep user data on its own servers. Germany, on the other hand, ditched the less private approach and said that it will adopt the Apple-Google model that stores only a limited amount of data on central servers, data that doesn’t include any details that can identify users. France is the other major European holdout that might want to perform coronavirus contact tracing on its own. But it’s still unclear whether it’ll go forward with its own app, or use the Apple-Google API.

AI is making memes now, and they are pure gold
- ImgFlip launched a meme generator that tasks AI with coming up with funny captions for popular meme formats.
- The absurd results are sometimes confusing, but often hilarious.
- The algorithm was fed by memes generated by humans to teach the AI how to be funny.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Ah, memes. The internet’s favorite way of communication is a rapidly-growing, fast-moving combination of images and blocky text, and if you take a week off of the web you’ll have missed a generation of new memes. There are good memes and there are bad memes. The good ones get shared, reposted, and spread all across social media. You never see the bad ones because, well, they don’t get shared.
Now, a new class of memes is being born, and they’re not created by human hand. They’re AI memes, and ImgFlip — an online tool for making memes, charts, and other visual oddities — has unleashed them upon us at the best possible time.

Elon Musk thinks the stay-at-home orders saving peoples’ lives are somehow ‘fascist’
- Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been a consistent critic of the US response to the coronavirus pandemic, calling panic over the virus “dumb” last month and not something people should be overly worried about right now.
- During Tesla’s latest quarterly earnings call Wednesday, Musk went into a pointed rant against shelter-in-place orders, even cursing a time or two to make his point.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Well, that escalated pretty quickly.
Tesla’s earnings call on Wednesday started off with a standard rundown of the electric carmaker’s latest performance and miscellaneous fundamentals over the past 90 days. And then, all of a sudden it seemed, Tesla CEO Elon Musk went full-on MAGA after the presentation to analysts was a little more than halfway finished, with the brash billionaire ranting and even cursing to make a couple of points in response to the quarantines and shelter-in-place orders around the country as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Orders, he added, that are causing considerable worry at Tesla, which Musk said produces “the vast majority of our cars” in the Bay Area — where a stay-at-home order was just extended through most of the next month.

New Huawei phone design looks suspiciously like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold
- Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is expected to release a new foldable smartphone later this year, not long after Samsung’s follow-up to last year’s Galaxy Fold likewise hits the market.
- Newly disclosed patent documentation shows the new Huawei phone taking design cues from the Galaxy Fold, including with a foldable screen on the interior as well as a quad-camera setup on the front.
- Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.
Huawei seems inclined to borrow a page from Samsung’s design playbook for a future foldable phone that the Chinese smartphone maker has patented new designs for, following the release of the Huawei Mate X and Mate Xs. Both of these come with the folding screen on the exterior of the device — a key design feature that may not necessarily be carried through to the new foldable phone that the company is expected to introduce later this year.
The expectation is that Huawei is going to shake up the design a bit for its next foldable, not unlike Samsung’s tweaks that were made from the Galaxy Fold to its next foldable model, the Galaxy Z Flip (and with yet another tweaked design coming soon in the form of the Galaxy Fold 2). In fact, speaking of Samsung, it seems that Huawei may be considering design cues similar to Samsung’s for the Galaxy Fold, at least based on newly approved Huawei design patent documentation.
