A few days ago, a first draft of an anti-encryption bill from Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) came to light and it drew an instant backlash from security experts. The law is apparently so bad that not only would it make the some of the NSA’s own work illegal, but it would also outlaw some of the things we’ve taken for granted for years, such as the ability to compress large files to share them online.

Do you still have QuickTime installed on your Windows PC for some reason? If so, now is the perfect time to install it — in fact, I’d recommend uninstalling Apple’s video player from your computer right away and without delay. Trend Micro this week put out an “urgent call” for Windows users to uninstall QuickTime mainly because Apple will no longer be issuing new security updates for the software. That means if new vulnerabilities in QuickTime for Windows are discovered, they’ll never be patched.

Apple’s MacBooks are due for a substantial refresh this year, at least when it comes to design. The company is rumored to be ditching the MacBook Air line and while making the MacBook Pro thinner than ever and similar in design to the 12-inch Retina MacBook. Refreshed 13-inch and 15-inch ultra-thin MacBooks were expected in the second quarter, but a new report says the machines are going to be launched only at some point in the second half of the year.

Despite the impossibly high expectations from fans who had been waiting years for it, Star Wars: The Force Awakens managed to capture the imagination of the filmgoing public, quickly becoming one of the highest grossing movies ever.

If Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have their way, we might only have 23 more episodes to look forward to before the show goes off the air for good. In an interview with Variety, Benioff and Weiss said that they are currently trying to decide if they should shorten the seventh season of Game of Thrones to seven episodes and the eighth season to just six.
