Not all hackers out there are looking to steal your information and use it for personal gain. According to the developer behind a new jailbreak app, there is one single complaint surrounding the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that surfaces more often than any other: they can’t be used easily with one hand. While Apple’s record sales are proof that people were clamoring for larger iPhones, there is no question that it is much more difficult to use phones with 4.7- and 5.5-inch screens than it is to use a phone with a 4-inch screen.

Apple’s brilliant Reachability feature provides a momentary solution for one-handed use, but there has to be a better way, right? Now, if you’re willing to jailbreak your iPhone, there is.

Fight back against your ISP: Stop paying bogus modem rental fees

%name Fight back against your ISP: Stop paying bogus modem rental fees by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We recently wrote about an awful pay TV scam that’s hiding in plain sight. Cable and satellite TV providers charge you as much as a monthly Netflix subscription or even more to rent a cable box that allows you to use their services. You’ll likely end up paying hundreds of dollars for this box over the course of your contract, and then you’ll have to pay hundreds more or return the box when it comes time to move or cancel your service.

Of course, pay TV companies are also Internet service providers, and they double up and pull the same move with your modem. As is often the case with cable boxes, however, you can fight back against these bogus charges by purchasing your own hardware.

With Split View mode, iPad users will be able to view and use two separate apps side by side. This multitasking functionality will instantly transform the iPad into a much more capable and appealing computing device.

What the first ‘iPhone’ looked like… back in 1998

Though Apple popularized the ‘i’ prefix as it pertains to product branding, they weren’t the first company to release a product called the iPhone. Indeed, it’s easy to forget that when Steve Jobs first unveiled the company’s iconic smartphone back in 2007, the ‘iPhone’ trademark at the time actually belonged to Cisco.

With this as a backdrop, the Internet History Podcast recently took a look back at the original iPhone, a product which, believe it or not, Infogear launched all the way back in 1998, a good nine years before Jobs shocked the world with Apple’s own take on what a smartphone should be. Infogear was subsequently acquired by Cisco which is where Apple and Cisco’s trademark dispute originated from.

So it looks like the Windows 10 launch was a big success if early adoption numbers are to be believed. The Register drops some data from StatCounter showing that Windows 10 already accounts for over 3.5% of desktop operating systems, up from just under 1.4% the week before. More interestingly, The Register says, “the biggest loser looks to be Windows 8.1, which dipped from 16.45 per cent share to 14.93 per cent,” while “Windows 7 went from 54.41per cent to 53.8 per cent and Windows 8 dropped from 3.6 percent to 3.46 percent.”
