The massive hack of the U.S. government’s employee database is even worse than we thought
Wow. Remember the gigantic hack into the database of the federal government’s Office of Personnel Management? Well it turns out that the hack has affected an estimated additional 21.5 million current and former federal workers, along with their families and friends. In short, this is a complete disaster.

Watch this new Microsoft HoloLens demo video, then pick your jaw up off the floor
OK, Minecraft on HoloLens still might be the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. If you haven’t already watched the video, you really, really need to watch it. HoloLens is obviously about much more than just gaming though, and a new demonstration video Microsoft released this week shows some fantastic examples of how partners will use HoloLens.

DEEP DIVE: Apple Music on iTunes is an embarrassing and confusing mess
Apple Music gets a lot of things right. First and foremost, curation on Apple’s new music service is top-notch and can unquestionably be positioned as a strong differentiator to Spotify. After a few days of heavy Apple Music usage, I’ve happily discovered a number of great songs that would have otherwise flew underneath my radar. While not every suggestion is a winner, the hit-to-miss ratio is noticeably higher compared to song suggestions I typically see on Pandora and Spotify.
Unfortunately, though, the rollout of Apple Music from a UI and usability standpoint leaves much to be desired. To be blunt, the current implementation of Apple Music, both on iOS and on iTunes, is an embarrassment and a far cry from the traditional standard of software excellence that Apple has long been known for.

Google just tossed BlackBerry a major lifeline
BlackBerry’s phones now serve an incredibly slim niche market, which has forced the company to look in other places for revenue. Under CEO John Chen, BlackBerry has been reinventing itself as an enterprise security software and services company that no longer has to rely on smartphone sales for growth. Chen’s plan got a major boost on Thursday when BlackBerry announced that it will partner with Google to help make Android devices used in enterprises more secure than ever before.
