Apple at WWDC today will take the wraps off a new Flipboard competitor, according to a recent report from Re/Code. Apple’s new app will reportedly include a “sampling” of content from big time publishers such as ESPN and Conde Nast.

Apple fans, the day you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. Apple’s massive Worldwide Developer Conference keynote is second-biggest event for Apple each year, with the first obviously being the annual unveiling of Apple’s new iPhones. Over the weekend, Sony Music CEO Doug Morris effectively confirmed that Apple later today will finally take the wraps off of Apple Music, the company’s own on-demand streaming music service.
While the impending launch of Apple Music is hardly breaking news in and of itself, Morris did articulate why he thinks Apple Music is poised to succeed, even in the face of strong competition from the likes of Spotify. Though Spotify currently boasts over 60 million active users, Morris believes Apple can make up a lot of ground quickly because they’ll actually be able to advertise.

Apple on Monday will unveil its next software plans for the iPhone, Mac and Watch, as well as its new music streaming service, though many reports have already likely exposed many of the new features from iOS 9 and OS X 10.11. However, Apple appears to have just confirmed one major change coming to its operating systems in a somewhat sneaky way.

The release date for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s may have been inadvertently leaked by Vodafone this past week. According to Mobile News, which claims to have gotten its hands on an internal Vodafone email, Apple’s next-gen iPhone is slated to be released on Friday, September 25, with pre-orders reportedly scheduled to open up on September 18.
Now given that it’s only early June, any story regarding a specific iPhone release date should of course be taken with a requisite grain of salt. Still, the rumored September 25 release date is certainly plausible. By way of contrast, the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 6 models respectively launched on September 20, September 21, and September 19. That being the case, the rumored release date is well within the realm of reason.

It seems Apple is tired of people saying it can’t do cloud services as well as Google, Microsoft and Amazon. Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is building a giant high-speed network to boost its cloud capabilities and put them on par with Amazon and others. This investment comes as Apple will launch its own Spotify-like music streaming service and as it prepares to announce a Netflix-like video streaming service in the fall.
