Apple’s iOS 8 software is moving along the usual path to general consumer release later this fall, with new beta versions being made available to developers for testing approximately every two weeks. Unfortunately, we have learned from trusted sources that iOS 8 beta 3 won’t be released to developers until Tuesday, July 8th. This would mean a three-week gap between when iOS 8 beta 2 was released on June 17th, and beta 3’s release.

During its I/O keynote, Google announced its new design vision that will debut with Android L alongside its other Android-related initiatives, including Android Wear, Android TV and Android Auto. The new “Material Design” will also take over Google’s web properties and mobile software as the company tries to offer its customers a cohesive experience across devices and platforms. However, while the new design direction is clearly one of the most important things Google announced on stage during the show, trying to explain it apparently isn’t an easy task for the tech giant.

With Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 handsets reportedly almost ready to enter mass production, we can expect leaks to kick into high gear. After all, with more than a hundred thousand people involved in the manufacturing process, it has become impossible to prevent component leaks. Case in point: For the first time ever, a component that is believed to be an authentic rear shell from Apple’s upcoming 4.7-inch iPhone 6 has appeared in a leaked video.

We’ll be honest: When it comes to stupid Apple predictions, we didn’t think anything could beat Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdry’s declaration back in March that Apple had a mere 60 days to release an iWatch or it would “disappear.” However, The Washington Post has for some reason decided to give voice to North River Ventures consultant Francis McInerney, who thinks that Apple’s next big move will be buying Disney.

We’re now just about halfway through 2014 and Apple has yet to launch any new products. The company has refreshed or even relaunched several existing devices such as the iPhone 5c, fourth-generation iPad, MacBook Air and iMac, and the trend will reportedly continue next week when Apple attempts to breathe new life into its iPod touch lineup.

Luuuk is the name of a mysterious Trojan that was discovered in early 2014 after having allowed its creators to steal more than €500,000, or about $680,000, in just seven days by performing “Man-in-the Browser” attacks. Kaspersky found the threat on January 20th, and it affected 190 customers of an unnamed bank that operates in Italy and Turkey.

Have you ever wanted to see the seedy world of Grand Theft Auto V through your own eyes? Well a new mod that’s being shown off by YouTube user XBLToothPik does the next-best thing for you by letting you play the game as a first-person shooter. Where the game really gets cool, however, is when you break into a car or a plane and see the entire thing in first person. XBLToothPik apparently created the mod using a modified Xbox 360, which means that the average gamer won’t be able to use it. However, when GTA V comes out for PC this fall, we expect that PC gamers will be able to use this mod or something like it. Be sure to check out both videos below.

Despite the continued expansion of Samsung’s enormous international footprint, the company’s CFO Lee Sang Hoon says second quarter earnings for 2014 are going to be “not that good.” Bloomberg reports that Samsung is expected to post an operating profit of 8.4 trillion won ($8.2 billion) for the quarter, a significant slide from the record performance of 10.2 trillion won in Q3 2013.

The Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that police will now be required to obtain a search warrant before they can access the cell phone of an individual they arrest, barring extreme circumstances such as child abduction or a bomb threat. MSNBC reports that the decision was unanimous.
