Susan Kare is a well-known graphic designer who has worked for various companies including Apple, where she created the icons that were part of the original Macintosh operating system’s user interface. Cult of Mac reports that Kare talked at an EG conference in early May in California about her early years at Apple and the inspiration behind her iconic designs and she also revealed why the Mac’s original Apple key was replaced with the Command key.

As cloud storage services become increasingly competitive, users will reap the benefits. Microsoft announced on Monday that OneDrive’s free storage will be growing from 7GB to 15GB for individuals. This puts OneDrive on par with Google Drive in terms of free storage capacity. Even better, Office 365 subscribers will receive a far more substantial upgrade from Microsoft, boosting their storage from 20GB to 1TB. This comes shortly after business customers were bumped up to 1TB of storage in April. If you need more space for your files but don’t want to subscribe to Office 365, monthly storage prices have gone down to $1.99 for 100 GB (previously $7.49), and $3.99 for 200 GB (previously $11.49). Current subscribers will automatically be moved to the new prices once the updates take effect in the next month.

Microsoft is very, very confident that the Surface Pro 3 really can replace your laptop. Ford has quite a party ready for the Goodwood Festival of Speed starting on June 27. Not only is the 2015 Mustang going to be driving in front of the European public for the first time, the Blue Oval is also unveiling its 2015 refresh for the Focus ST.
Official details about the latest Focus hot hatch are practically nonexistent at this point. Ford’s teaser image shows narrower headlights, and the company says that the ST also benefits from the technical and quality improvements from the refreshed standard model, which likely means an even more Aston-Martin-like grille. However, any improvements for the power or handling are a mystery for now.
Ford will even give visitors to the festival the chance to drive the new ST – at least virtually. Gran Turismo 6 kiosks will be on hand with the hot hatch loaded up to race the Goodwood Hill Climb. There will also be real-time races between former Stig Ben Collins in the real ST challenging a player up the hill in the game.
There will be at least two, new Mustangs there as well for the British crowds to check out. A 5.0-liter coupe will challenge the Goodwood Hill, and a convertible will also be on display. Twice a year, the biggest names in video game speedrunning from all around the world come together for Games Done Quick, a livestreamed charity marathon which has quickly become one of the most popular gaming events on the Internet. Summer Games Done Quick 2014, the latest incarnation of the marathon, started this Sunday with a speedrun of Super Mario 3D World, one of our favorite games of 2013. Of course, we didn’t beat it in under 2 hours.

Apple will incorporate Touch ID fingerprint sensors into a variety of new devices this year, including the new iPhone 6 models, the second-generation iPad Air (or iPad 6), and the third-generation iPad mini, a new report from China indicates. China Times has learned that Apple will significantly increase Touch ID orders this year, with shipments expected to hit 120 million units, a 233% increase compared to the same period last year.

It’s no surprise that the $200 Amazon Fire Phone is now the No. 1 on-contract phone at Amazon.com, outselling all Samsung models one month before its official launch. But it’s a bit of a shocker that the $300 Fire Phone model with 64GB of memory is the No. 2 phone. American consumers have started showing signs of becoming increasingly unwilling to pay more than $200 for even the latest smartphones, but loyal Amazon customers may be so attracted to the brand that they are willing to pay up for the pricier version of its flagship phone.

When Google acquired Nest earlier this year, we knew the justification would be multifaceted. Not only was Google picking up one of the hottest smart home properties in the industry, the search giant was also absorbing a very talented team of designers, including Tony Fadell, the CEO of Nest and a man who oversaw the development of the iPod. Now, just five months later, The Information is reporting that Fadell “owns” the consumer hardware division at Google.
