GoPro cameras have recorded many videos showing amazing, intriguing and terrifying events around the people wearing them, and the company has published a new video on its YouTube channel that might be the most viscerally frightening yet. While trying to document one driver’s attempt at of beating the world record for the longest ramp car jump using only its cameras, GoPro managed to capture the extremely scary experience of a high-speed car crash.

Late last week, we covered a new feature that had been discovered in Apple Maps on iOS 8 — flyover city tours. It was previously thought that the feature could only be accessed through a series of debug menus, but 9to5Mac reader Stefan Kujit found that the flyover tours are actually accessible to anyone with iOS 8… just as long as you’re prepared to do a little bit of digging.

And now a new story relayed to us via Business Insider shows why Google is so beloved by its workers: It takes the time to personally answer a letter sent by one employee’s daughter asking the company to give her dad a day off.

Apple is expected to unveil two iPhone 6 versions later this year, including a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model to finally compete against Android device makers that have been selling oversized smartphones and phablets for years. Insider Sonny Dickson, who has posted online many images detailing unreleased iOS products ahead of their launch, has shared new images with 9to5Mac showing the most important component of the bigger iPhone 6 model, the 5.5-inch display.

The next generation of wearable tech is nearly upon us. CNET reports that Samsung is preparing to unveil an Android Wear smartwatch at Google I/O this week, a device similar to the Gear smartwatches we’ve been introduced to over the past year. According to CNET’s sources, Samsung has been working on two Android Wear models, one using its own chips and one built with Qualcomm processors.

Apple is expected to release two bigger iPhone versions this fall, with Foxconn and Pegatron said to handle the massive iPhone 6 production orders. Apparently both companies are scrambling to meet massive demand, with the Economic News Daily reporting that Foxconn and Pegatron are both on hiring sprees at the moment, in anticipation of the new iPhone launch.

Apple is apparently getting ready to release iOS 7.1.2, a build that has already been released to mobile operators to test it and sign off on by Friday, June 27th. According to MacRumors, a public release could occur this week as soon as carriers approve of the new update.

The general reaction to Amazon’s Fire Phone in the United States has been underwhelming to say the least, with some well-respected critics going so far as to say it’s “dead on arrival” and could be an even bigger flop than last year’s HTC-made Facebook phone. However, The Korea Times’ sources are hearing that local mobile powerhouses Samsung and LG are actually worried about the Fire Phone for reasons that seemingly don’t make a lot of sense.
