The OnePlus One has taken on a mythical quality, mostly due to the fact that it’s almost impossible to buy, but there are some very real limits to its perceived powers. Android Police has noticed that there’s a new video making its rounds on YouTube that shows the OnePlus One being dunked into a few centimeters of water and held there for a little more than 10 seconds before being pulled out completely unscathed. Although this video, which now has more than 50,000 views, seems to suggest that the OnePlus One is waterproof, the reality is that it’s not.

Nuance Communications, one of the biggest names in speech recognition, might be heading to the highest bidder before long. The Wall Street Journal reports that Nuance has been in talks with potential suitors as the company seeks a sale. According to sources familiar with the company, Samsung as well as several private-equity firms have been part of this discussion.

Apple is very late to the party when it comes to offering a music streaming service that’s capable of taking on Spotify. However, Apple does have one advantage over Spotify that could really help it catch up in terms of subscriber numbers: It’s got a ton of cash that it can throw at artists to produce exclusive content. Per The Verge, Beats Music this week is offering an exclusive remix of X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons’ hit song “Jungle” that features a guest appearance by Jay-Z.

iPhone and PlayStation 3 owners who looked for ways to jailbreak either device in the past probably know who Geohot is, and should be happy to hear he is still hacking devices. Geohot on Sunday released his own root tool on xda-developers that works on many Android handsets, including the Verizon and AT&T Galaxy S5 versions, which were harder to crack, at least so far.

A few weeks ago, John Oliver’s net neutrality appeal during his HBO show went viral, convincing many Internet users to leave comments with the FCC about the its controversial proposal that would allow for Internet “fast lanes.” In Oliver’s original smackdown of the FCC, he said that having Wheeler run the Federal Communications Commission despite working previously as a cable company lobbyist was “the equivalent of needing a babysitter and hiring a dingo.” Meanwhile,, on Friday Wheeler was asked whether he had heard Oliver’s remarks, and the chairman actually made a point of denying that he is a dingo.

It looks like 2014 is primed to be the year of the PlayStation. The Wall Street Journal reports that, for the first time in years, Sony has taken the lead with combined home console and portable hardware sales worldwide. After conceding to Nintendo last year by just 200,000 units, the popularity of the PlayStation 4 and continued adoption of the PS Vita have given Sony a comfortable lead at 18.7 million combined sales, 2.4 million over Nintendo and 7.2 million over Microsoft.

Motorola’s next-generation flagship phone will not be assembled to order in an American factory like its predecessor, but it still looks like the “Moto X+1” will still have plenty to offer prospective buyers. According to a new leak that included several photos of the unreleased phone as well as key specs, the X+1 will be a dramatic improvement over the original Moto X, which was a mid-range smartphone with specs that were no match for market leaders at the time.
