This is what it’s like to be an Internet spy
Nefarious hackers are lurking around every corner of the Internet, constantly working on new ways to beat Web security and steal our data. Some methods they employ involve remote digital attacks that utilize security flaws to steal data from corporate servers. And sometimes they perpetrate physical breaches, as was the case with the major Target attack we saw last year. Large corporations aren’t the only targets though, and one reporter recently found out firsthand what it’s like to be an Internet spy.

GET READY… New leak supposedly shows the actual, completely redesigned iPhone 6!
We saw leaked photos of what may be fully assembled external components from Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 earlier on Wednesday, and now a new set of photos once again might show us exactly what we can expect from Apple’s flagship smartphone later this year. Reports claim that Apple’s new iPhone 6 is currently entering mass production and with hundreds of thousands of workers involved with that process, leaks are simply inevitable. We’ve seen it time and time again, and this year we’ll likely see these leaks take all of the mystery out of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6.

Changes to Google’s app policies open the door to malicious intent
Google’s Android is the most popular mobile operating system for malware, an ecosystem “feature” criticized by many including Apple, which has took some shots at Google during its WWDC 2014 keynote for this particular problem. Even Google acknowledged that Android is more likely to be targeted by malware, but explained that’s simply because it’s the dominant mobile OS, and thus the obvious choice for malware developers.
But while Google has taken many steps to prevent malware apps, a recent Play Store update has left a potential door open to app developers with malicious intentions.

This great Netflix tool will show you how good (or awful) your ISP is
Netflix isn’t done coming up with clever ways to name and shame ISPs that deliver slow streaming services. Wired has spotted a new tool on Netflix’s website that will let you know exactly how fast your ISP delivers Netflix video streaming traffic so you can see whether you’re actually getting the “high-speed” service you’re paying for.

Cars and rock and roll have gone together since the early days. Whether it’s Hot Rod Lincoln, G.T.O or a bunch of songs by The Beach Boys, auto enthusiasts were instrumental to the history of the genre. Photography has played a huge role in our hobby as well. Think of the number of cars you know about but only ever see in pictures. A company called Couch definitely sees the connection and creates seriously cool straps and accessories using deadstock automotive upholstery. They even offer a range of wallets and shaving bags, if you’re not a rocker or camera buff but love the classic style.
Their products run the gamut of classic cars. They have guitar and camera straps made from the upholstery of an ’80s Volkswagen Golf (pictured above), the vinyl trunk liner from a late ’60s Ford Mustang, vinyl seats from ’80s Mercedes-Benz, a fantastically retro shaving bag from a ’70s Jeep Cherokee interior and a lot more.
The deadstock material is the probably best part of the line. Couch finds the leftover fabric from places like auto upholstery shops. It means that no classic cars have to give up their seats to furnish you with a wallet or guitar strap. Even better, you’re not putting something around your neck made from material that someone sat on for 40 years – that could get kind of gross. If you’re in a band that needs a retro look or just want to take your classic car love with you everywhere, you might want to give Couch a browse.

2014 iPhone Photography Awards: You won’t believe these photos were taken with iPhones
It’s pretty amazing how far we’ve come in terms of the quality of photographs captured by smartphone cameras. Despite the miniscule size of the components involved, top smartphone cameras can take better pictures than many dedicated point and shoot cameras in the right conditions. While Nokia’s Lumia 1020 is probably still the king of the hill in terms of mobile cameras, Apple’s iPhone lineup has been an industry leader since it first debuted in 2007. And since then, IPPAWARDS has held an annual contest in an effort to find the most stunning photos in the world that were captured by iPhones.

Paid apps gone free: SwiftKey offers a hugely improved Android typing experience
One of the best Android keyboard replacements out there is now free. SwiftKey announced on Wednesday that it’s dumping its traditional $3.99 price tag and is moving toward a “freemium” model that will offer in-app purchases that include up to 30 new individual themes and other customizable content that it will add to its in-house store in the coming weeks.
