If you were to list the creatures that scare you today, turtles probably wouldn’t be near the top of the list. Sure, a snapping turtle can destroy a finger or two, but generally speaking, turtles are pretty chill. If you happened to be hanging out in South America five to ten million years ago, however, you might have come across a turtle that wasn’t just scary, but downright massive.

The turtle, which is the subject of a new research paper published in Science Advances, was a true goliath. Weighing in at over 2,500 pounds, the beast now known by the scientific name Stupendemys geographicus would have been as large as a mid-sized car.

A new service will print your face on a mask so you can still unlock your phone while avoiding germs

The coronavirus is a real concern right now, especially if you happen to live in a heavily-populated area and worry about potential infections. The new virus has the same symptoms as the flu and has to be diagnosed using special tests, which means anyone could be infected. Again, that’s if you live in a region where a significant number of cases have been confirmed already. There’s no reason to panic over the new virus, and you won’t get it if nobody in your area has it.

Protective gear such as masks can help prevent the spread of the virus, but it’s not a guarantee that you won’t come in contact with the virus. If anything, the use of face masks helps you protect others from your own germs. And the coronavirus isn’t the only thing spreading this season. So is the flu, which can be even deadlier than the coronavirus. One of the downsides of using a face mask is that it might make it impossible to use your phone if you rely on a face scanner system to unlock it. However, someone already thought of a clever solution to this problem: Print your face on N95 masks so that you can unlock your phone while you wear them.

With scientists and researchers still working hard to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the epidemic is having a tangible impact on manufacturing in China. While some companies have been actively looking to shift manufacturing resources to Taiwan, overall production across a range of products is expected to take a hit.

As it pertains to Apple, a new report from DigiTimes relays that the coronavirus might see Apple release its rumored AirPods Pro Lite a little bit later than initially anticipated. Word of Apple’s potentially releasing a more wallet-friendly version of its popular AirPods Pro first surfaced last week, though we haven’t seen any details regarding how much it might cost or what features it might leave out as to differentiate it from Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Boston Dynamics has been striking fear into the hearts of the general public for years now. The company’s robotic creations are incredible, and sometimes a little bit scary, but generally speaking, they’re just really, really impressive pieces of technology. In the newest episode of Tested, hosted by Adam Savage, the former Mythbuster turns one of Boston Dynamics’ most iconic creations into a method of transportation.

In the video, the robot “dog” Spot stars as a rickshaw puller, hauling Savage around at relatively modest speeds. However, if you think getting a robot dog to pull you around is a simple endeavor, you should probably think again.

Finally, here’s a secret weapon to use against all those despicable robocallers

It’s probably fitting that I’ve already had to fend off one robocall while typing this. “This,” being the following news — if you’re reading these words, then statistically you’re probably one of the millions of Americans bombarded with robocalls and spam calls each year, something that usually elicits a quick hang-up or a tap of the “decline” button on your phone. One app, however, wants to give us a new tool to address these calls. A tool, in fact, that will let users sue robocallers for up to $3,000 for each annoying call they spam you with.

The app is called DoNotPay, which offers a number of solutions including help with appealing parking tickets and an easy way to cancel subscriptions. This new solution is called Robo Revenge, and you can now use it through DoNotPay’s website as well as its mobile app.

Purported OnePlus 8 specs leak contains a few surprising revelations

%name Purported OnePlus 8 specs leak contains a few surprising revelations by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The first wave of 2020 flagship Android phones is here, with the Galaxy S20 and Xiaomi Mi 10 being the first phones to rock Qualcomm’s brand new Snapdragon 865 processor, which comes with built-in 5G connectivity. These phones also feature insane specs when it comes to RAM and storage, with the 16GB/512GB Galaxy S20 Ultra being a phone that has no rival. It’s also extremely expensive, retailing for $1,599.

But the S20 won’t be the only high-end handset hitting stores this spring, and a much cheaper flagship is right around the corner. The OnePlus 8 series is also expected to rock the same Snapdragon 865 chip, but the new OnePlus phones will be a lot cheaper than Samsung’s without sacrificing performance. In fact, we have a brand new leak that lists the main specs of the purported OnePlus 8 models the Chinese vendor is about to unveil.

Apple Watch alerts 13-year-old about a serious, undetected heart condition

A teenager in Oklahoma is crediting the Apple Watch for alerting him to a serious heart condition that may have otherwise gone undetected. In a story that first appeared on KFOR News, 13-year-old Skylar Joslin was sitting in class when an alert about his heart rate appeared on his Apple Watch. To his credit, Joslin reacted immediately and quickly fired off a text to his mother.

“I got a text message along with a screenshot of his heart rate that was 190,” Joslin’s mom said. A follow-up message from Skylar relayed that he suspected something was wrong given that he wasn’t engaged in any type of physical activity at the time.

In rare misstep, SpaceX loses Falcon 9 during landing attempt

%name In rare misstep, SpaceX loses Falcon 9 during landing attempt by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In its continued efforts to create a global communications network with its Starlink satellites, SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket today, delivering another 60 of the spacecraft into Earth orbit. It was a relatively routine mission for the company and its attempt to land its Falcon 9 booster was expected to go smoothly. It did not, in fact, go smoothly.

As it has done many times before, SpaceX’s droneship was expected to catch the booster after it delivered the payload. Cameras aboard the droneship did not show the rocket making its soft landing. In fact, it didn’t show the rocket at all.

Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra has the best smartphone display ever made

%name Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra has the best smartphone display ever made by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After a few years of incremental upgrades, Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 models arguably represent the company’s most compelling offering in years. Introduced last week at the company’s annual Unpacked event, Samsung’s 2020 smartphone lineup consists of three devices: an entry-level 6.2-inch Galaxy S20, a 6.7-inch Galaxy S20+, and last but not least, a gargantuan 6.9-inch Galaxy S20 Ultra. As a point of reference, Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro boasts a 6.5-inch display, which is to say that the S20 Ultra is almost veering into tablet territory.

Per usual, Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra houses the company’s latest and greatest technologies and, in turn, the device is priced accordingly. While you can get the S20 for under a grand, the entry-level Galaxy S20 Ultra will set you back a cool $1,399. That said, if you’ve got the money to spare, and if you don’t mind a somewhat imposing form factor, the S20 Ultra certainly provides users with a lot of bang for the buck.
