Half a century ago, NASA sent humans to the Moon for the first time in the history of mankind. The Apollo missions were incredible achievements, and while NASA is in the midst of preparing for the eventual return of humans to the lunar surface, relics from those decades-old missions are still providing scientists with new insights.

In a new report, NASA reveals that some of the Apollo-ear lunar soil samples it recently approved to be unsealed have finally gotten a chance to breathe. The samples, numbered 73002 and 73001, are the first lunar material samples to be unsealed in over 40 years.

Tesla’s Model 3 is luring customers away from luxury brands like BMW and Audi

One of the more intriguing aspects surrounding Tesla’s ongoing success is how that success continues to impact traditional automakers. As a prime example, it’s no secret that the allure of Tesla’s Model S lured away buyers who were otherwise keen on purchasing a Porsche. Notably, this isn’t even a point of contention as Porsche Cars North America CEO Klaus Zellmer admitted as much a few years ago.

“We have lots of respect for Tesla,” Zellmer said during a 2017 interview, “and, yes, I’m sure there are some Porsche customers, that in terms of connectivity, digital stuff in the car and electric battery in the vehicles, didn’t find the car that they wanted with Porsche so they bought somewhere else.”

Dip your fries into Wendy’s first new Frosty flavor since the dessert debuted

One of the most familiar, beloved aspects of Wendy’s, besides the red-haired girl with pigtails in the logo, is the chain’s iconic Frosty dessert. People have been dunking their fries into those smooth chocolate Frostys ever since Wendy’s got its start way back in 1969. Menu items have come and gone since then. The sweet, simple Frosty endures.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s has decided to take a bold, dramatic step in honor of its 50th anniversary on Friday, November 15. What a perfect moment, the chain decided, to bless us all with something new — for the first time, a new Frosty flavor (that of a birthday cake, of course).

Of all the incredible pieces of machinery that NASA has orbiting Earth right now, the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is one of the most impressive. Its ultra-sensitive lenses can spot the tiniest changes in brightness of far-off stars that hint at the presence of distant worlds. Every image that TESS sends back to Earth holds a wealth of information, and when you stitch over 200 of them together you get a truly glorious glimpse of our home galaxy.

In a new release, NASA showcases the awesome power of TESS with a panorama of the southern sky. It’s the result of 208 TESS images that have been delicately pieced together, and boy does it do a good job of making us feel tiny.

I could have used this new Google Maps feature on my recent trip to Europe

%name I could have used this new Google Maps feature on my recent trip to Europe by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Getting around and navigating your transportation options can be one of the more stressful aspects of foreign travel, especially when you’re somewhere where you don’t speak the language and have to try and convey to a taxi or Uber driver where you’re trying to go. I encountered it myself a couple of months ago with a French Uber driving trying to tell me something pretty insistently about my trip as I got into his car near my hotel in Paris’ 10th Arrondissement.

I definitely would have liked to have been able to turn to a new Google Maps feature that’s rolling out this month — a translate text-to-speech feature that will allow Google Maps to speak the text you input in the language of the country you’re in, precisely for the reason I outlined above. Perfect for when you, for example, have Google Maps open and want to convey to your driver where you’re trying to go, rather than gesture and point wordlessly at the app.

Former HBO CEO to join Apple as the company looks to compete with Netflix and Disney+

%name Former HBO CEO to join Apple as the company looks to compete with Netflix and Disney+ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s crazy how fast the media landscape has changed in just a few short years. Not too long ago, Netflix was the bonafide king of streaming without a challenger in sight. These days, Netflix is seemingly under siege from all angles as the streaming giant faces competition from a growing array of media giants. Aside from traditional competitors like Hulu and Amazon, Netflix now has to contend with a new streaming service from Disney that offers up an impressive library of content at a remarkably cheap price point.

Meanwhile, Apple is also in the mix with Apple TV+. And though it’s no secret that Apple currently doesn’t pose much of a formidable threat given its paltry selection of media content, Apple undeniably has more money to spend than anyone else as it looks to shore up its media library with high-quality content.

Watch Mercury transit the Sun in glorious 4K

%name Watch Mercury transit the Sun in glorious 4K by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Monday was a big day for astronomers around the world as it provided the rare opportunity to see Mercury transit the Sun. If you missed all the hype leading up to the event, the bad news is that you missed the chance to watch it happen live. The good news, however, is that NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) was keeping several close eyes on it, and NASA just released a new video showing the transit in gorgeous 4K.

The video, which is just over a minute long, shows the tiny planet passing in front of our star using a variety of different imaging tools. NASA’s hardware can capture the light of the Sun in a variety of wavelengths, and seeing the transit through the SDO’s various filters is a real treat.

Chris Evans might return to the MCU, but only if Captain America’s arc is unchanged

%name Chris Evans might return to the MCU, but only if Captain America’s arc is unchanged by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Chris Evans said his emotional goodbye to the MCU after wrapping up work on Avengers: Endgame, many people assumed Captain America would die in the film. Evans then had to clarify his comments, just as Marvel execs made it clear that the farewell had nothing to do with Steve Rogers’ fate in the film. Then Endgame hit theaters, and we all learned what really happens to Cap in the end.

We explained at the time that Endgame gives Cap’s arc a beautiful finale, although some fans had trouble reconciling what happened with Steve when he went back to Peggy. Marvel confirmed time and again that Cap lived his life with the love of his life in a different timeline, before returning to his original version of Earth with a new shield to pass on to the new Captain America. But would Evans ever want to reprise his iconic MCU role? The actor appeared to be open to the idea, but if it would ever happen, it’d have to respect what happened to his character in Endgame.
