When NASA’s Mars 2020 rover eventually arrives at the Red Planet in early 2021 it will be the most advanced piece of hardware the space agency has ever sent to another world. It’s absolutely packed with tools and sensors that will send a wealth of data back to Earth, and it should teach scientists a lot of new and exciting things about our dusty orange neighbor.

But let’s be honest, there’s only one thing that will truly change the way we all look at Mars, and that’s the confirmation of past Martian life. The Mars 2020 rover is well equipped to search for evidence of ancient life near the shores of the massive lake bed where the rover will land.

Everyone’s favorite Anker fast wireless charging pad is still on sale for $8.99

%name Everyone’s favorite Anker fast wireless charging pad is still on sale for $8.99 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I made a mistake. When I first got a smartphone that supports wireless charging, I spent $40 each on brand name wireless charging pads and it was a total waste of money. I’m reminded of that mistake every time I cover killer deals like this one, which slashes the wildly popular Anker Powerwave Pad Fast Wireless Charger to just $8.99 with the coupon code AKSD0313. It’s just as good as my $40 wireless charging pads — in fact, it’s even better because mine have huge blue LEDs that glow all night long — but for a fraction of the price!

Anker Wireless Charger, Powerwave Pad Upgraded 10W Max, 7.5W for iPhone 11, Pro, Max, XS Max, X…: $8.99 (use code AKSD0313 by 11/15)

Here’s some additional info from the product page:

  • The Anker Advantage: Join the 50+ million powered by our leading technology.
  • The Need for Speed: A high-efficiency chipset provides 10W high-speed charging for Samsung Galaxy, while iPhones get a boosted 7. 5W charge that’s 10% faster than other wireless chargers. For best results, use a quick charge Adapter (9V/2a) for Samsung Galaxy and iPhone charging.
  • Led indicator: The LED indicator lets you know the charging status. If the indicator is flashing blue, check to make sure that there are no objects between your phone and the charging surface. If the indicator is flashing Green, make sure you are using a 5V/2a or above adapter, or try a different adapter and cable.
  • Case friendly: Don’t fumble with your phone case. Power Wave transmits charging power directly through protective cases. Rubber/plastic/TPU cases under 5 mm thickness only. Magnetic and metal attachments or cards will prevent charging.
  • What you get: PowerWave pad, 4 ft Micro USB cable, welcome guide, worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

%name The 10 best shows available on Disney+ right now by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Now that Disney+ has finally gone live, you might be wondering what you should watch. As with most video streaming services, it can be incredibly overwhelming to log on and see dozens of TV shows and movies all lined up next to one another, daring you to sink hours of your time into any and all of them. So we thought it may be a good idea to whittle your choices down for you by putting together a list of the best shows available on Disney+.

With over 600 movies and shows to choose from, this might not be a definitive list (there’s really no such thing), but if you’re looking for somewhere to get started, this should at the very least put you on the right track.

%name Facebook bug can secretly turn on your iPhone camera while you browse by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As a company beleaguered by a seemingly endless string of scandals and public relations gaffes, the last thing Facebook needs is the discovery of a bug that calls the company’s commitment to privacy into question. And yet, that’s exactly what happened this week.

As it turns out, there’s a pesky bug in Facebook’s iOS app that activates the iPhone camera in the background, all without any overt indication to users. The bug was brought to light by designer Joshua Maddux who discovered that the iOS camera is sometimes called into action while a user is innocently perusing their news feed.

Chrome will start warning you when you visit a website that loads slowly

%name Chrome will start warning you when you visit a website that loads slowly by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The internet is faster and more accessible than ever, but there are still plenty of websites that take far too long to load. Google appears to be just as fed up with these sites as we are, because, on Monday, the Chrome team revealed that it is considering a new feature which will “identify sites that typically load fast or slow for users with clear badging.” It isn’t clear how this feature will be implemented yet, but Google will experiment with several options.

“Badging is intended to identify when sites are authored in a way that makes them slow generally, looking at historical load latencies,” Google explains in a blog post. “Further along, we may expand this to include identifying when a page is likely to be slow for a user based on their device and network conditions.”

If you’re on Spotify’s free tier, you can finally stream music on Sonos speakers

%name If you’re on Spotify’s free tier, you can finally stream music on Sonos speakers by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A little less than a month after giving its Premium subscribers a free Google Home Mini speaker that can be used to stream music, Spotify is now showing some similar love for the subscribers on its free tier (who, it should be noted, vastly outnumber the paid subscribers on a monthly basis — 248 million, compared to 113 million paying).

Until today, Spotify’s free users weren’t able to stream music on Sonos speakers. That changes as of today, though, with a software update rolling out that allows for access on Sonos to Spotify’s entire catalog via the shuffle feature. Listeners will also be able to access 15 personalized playlists on-demand, including Discover Weekly, Release Radar, and Daily Mix.

Watch a massive fireball streak across the St. Louis sky

If you happened to be hanging out in St. Louis, Missouri, last night at around 9:00 p.m. local time you may have witnessed something truly spectacular in the skies. Many people across the area reported seeing an incredibly bright flash of light in the sky, followed by a streak slicing down toward Earth from above. It was a meteor, and thankfully for those of us who don’t live in St. Louis, it was captured on video for us all to enjoy.

As local CBS affiliate KMOV reports, the brilliant fireball was captured by many home cameras across the region, and one of the lenses from the EarthCam network even managed to catch a glimpse of it.
