Samsung may fix one of the Galaxy Fold’s worst problems in time for the Fold 2

%name Samsung may fix one of the Galaxy Fold’s worst problems in time for the Fold 2 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold was never going to compete with any of the traditional flagship smartphones that launched in 2019. Of course, that wasn’t really the point, as Samsung’s primary goals were to beat everyone else to market with a foldable phone, and to show everyone that the technology was not only viable, but ready for primetime. The company failed miserably in regards to the latter goal, as the review units sent to press were fraught with issues, and the units that shipped to consumers months later have had their own share of reported problems as well.

Samsung needed to prove to consumers that a foldable phone could work. It failed. That shouldn’t be the case for the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2, though, as SamMobile reports that Samsung is changing how it makes displays so that one of the most worrisome concerns regarding the device’s durability will no longer be an issue.

It’s hard to believe, but even though no one has been wearing an Apple Watch Series 5 for terribly long at the moment (not even two months yet) we’re already starting to see rumors about next year’s Apple Watch model starting to trickle out.

TF International Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo, probably the industry’s most reliable and well-connected Apple insider, is predicting via a new research note he’s released that the Apple Watch 6 will not surprisingly be faster as well as offering even better water resistance than its predecessor. Additionally, faster Wi-Fi and cellular speeds might also make for even better wireless transmission.

Something massive blasted X-ray energy into space, and NASA saw it happen

We’ve got it pretty good here on our little blue orb orbiting a relatively chilled-out star, but space is dark and full of terrors. In a new paper published in The Astrophysical Journal, scientists using data from NASA’s NICER telescope reveal the discovery of an absolutely massive energy burst spotted some 11,000 light-years away from Earth.

NICER, which is a high-tech sensor installed on the International Space Station, detected the incredible release of energy coming from a system known as SAX J1808. Unlike our own solar system, J1808 is a binary system, meaning that its heart is made up of two objects rather than one.

Nintendo says the Switch isn’t getting cheaper anytime soon

%name Nintendo says the Switch isn’t getting cheaper anytime soon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Nintendo’s insanely popular Switch console is no doubt going to end up under a ton of Christmas trees this holiday season after serving as a favorite target of Black Friday and other holiday shoppers. Almost three years after the console’s introduction in early 2017, the Switch has impressively helped Nintendo keep pace with the latest console offerings from rivals Microsoft and Sony, by giving fans something that doesn’t match those rival consoles in terms of specs but builds instead on what Nintendo has always offered: A solid gaming foundation for a lineup of supremely fun first-party titles.

All of which should make it no surprise, really, that during a question and answer session held in tandem with Nintendo’s presentation of its latest financial results, company president Shuntaro Furukawa broke this expected news: The Switch isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

On Tuesday, a major new chapter in the ongoing Streaming Wars begins in earnest with the launch of Disney’s hotly anticipated new Netflix rival, Disney+. The service launches in the US for $6.99/month or $69.99 for an annual subscription (for those of you who haven’t signed up early or taken advantage of the myriad discounts in advance), and the streamer will be the exclusive home for content from beloved brands like Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Disney itself. In addition to the hundreds of movies, users will also get to enjoy all-new TV series created just for the service, like the one I’m especially eager to dive into on Tuesday — the Star Wars-themed series The Mandalorian about the escapades of a wandering bounty hunter.

If you’re already eager to check out the service, it’s likely you already know the answers to most of the questions that interest you. Except, perhaps, for one — What time can you start streaming Disney+ content on launch day?

The International Space Station may get a new lease on life

%name The International Space Station may get a new lease on life by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The International Space Station has been around for long enough that it’s easy to forget that it has a finite lifespan. The massive orbiting laboratory has been flying for over two decades now, and it’s been inhabited for over 19 years. Keeping it up and running is a massive effort, and it’s not cheap.

When the space station outlives its usefulness it will be decommissioned, but we’re not there yet, and ensuring that the spacecraft remains up and running means spending heaps of cash. A new proposal by a bipartisan group of lawmakers suggests that the US government do just that, clearing the path to funding the space station’s continued operations for another decade.
