Samsung’s Galaxy Fold hasn’t been the massive success the Korean giant has envisioned, but it’s finally out there. Samsung can easily claim it was the first major smartphone vendor to ship a foldable phone in 2019 and does deserve some credit for taking the risk and pushing forward with the launch of a futuristic device well ahead of time. Foldable phones and laptops are certainly going to become more prevalent in the coming years, but the technology isn’t quite there yet — not to mention the sky-high price. Samsung will keep making foldable phones in the coming years, with recent reports saying that Samsung is planning a different foldable design. And the company just confirmed all those rumors, revealing that it essentially intends to launch a Galaxy Fold 2 device that will look just like a Galaxy S10 or Note 10 that’s folded in half.

HBO Max isn’t Netflix or Disney+: It costs more, comes with a new ‘Game of Thrones’ show, and might launch too late

The streaming wars are about to be reignited by the imminent arrivals of Apple TV+ and Disney+, with the latter being the best alternative to Netflix so far, especially when it comes to pricing and content. These aren’t the only new streaming services about to become available to users. AT&T just unveiled more details about its new HBO-branded offering, HBO Max, which CEO Randall Stephenson said it’s not Netflix or Disney. HBO Max will be slightly more expensive than Netflix — and a lot more costly than Disney+ — and it’ll only launch next May. But the service will include a ton of original programming, as well as other licensed content. Yes, you’re getting the old Game of Thrones, as well as a brand new spin-off.

Restaurant cake mix-up results in a bunch of very surprised, stoned customers

A group of funeral-goers in Germany found themselves getting very, very high after a cake mix-up at a restaurant threw a wrench in an otherwise somber day of mourning. The bizarre incident took place near the city of Rostock, with over a dozen members of a funeral party stopping by a local restaurant for cake and coffee.

The restaurant served the mourners and it wasn’t long before several of them began to feel odd, with some becoming dizzy and reporting nausea. As it turns out, the cake that they had been served was made with hash, and the customers were high as kites.

HBO Max will be a lot different from Netflix and Disney+, AT&T claims

%name HBO Max will be a lot different from Netflix and Disney+, AT&T claims by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Call me crazy, but in a market already saturated by streaming services — and not to mention upcoming options from the likes of Disney and Apple — I’m more than a bit intrigued by HBO Max. Aside from the confusing matrix of names (HBO Max, HBO GO, HBO Now), the reality is that HBO Max really looks to be a compelling offering. With a rumored price point in the $15 range, HBO Max will not only offer up everything currently available on HBO, but additional content from Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, TNT, TBS, the Cartoon Network, and much more.

What’s interesting about the impending launch of HBO Max is that AT&T seems completely unfazed by what is undeniably a crowded field of competitors. During an earnings conference call earlier this week, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson seemed to downplay rivals by insisting that HBO Max is so unique as to clearly stand apart from other streaming services.

Hubble spots giant ‘alien’ face in deep space, scientists say we shouldn’t be terrified

If science fiction flicks have taught us anything, it’s that when we eventually find an ultra-intelligent alien civilization they’re going to have big, oval-shaped heads and huge bulging eyes. When you think of aliens, it’s an image that immediately pops into your mind, and the Hubble Space Telescope just spotted something that looks eerily similar.

Hubble peered deep into space and there, sitting 704 million light-years from Earth, is a creepy face glaring at the rest of the cosmos. It’s bizarre and awesome, and its existence tells the story of a colossal collision between two galaxies a long, long time ago.

HBO officially reveals ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘House of the Dragon’

Not long after reports began to surface that HBO’s first Game of Thrones prequel had been canned, a new prequel has risen from its ashes. On Tuesday evening, HBO announced via its Twitter account that House of the Dragon will be the first new series set in the world of Game of Thrones to come to the network. As previous reports suggested, it will be based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, which follows House Targaryen and conquests of the Targaryen kings leading up to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire (upon which the original show was based).

Pittsburgh sinkhole slurps up delicious city bus

You never know what life is going to throw at you, and that’s especially true on Mondays. Pittsburgh residents taking advantage of convenient public transportation were reminded of that fact this week when the bus they were riding on was swallowed up by a city street.

The incident, which occurred in the city’s downtown area, saw a city bus fall rear-first into a cavernous void that materialized in the middle of the road. It happened during the morning rush hour, of course, because that’s exactly what everyone needed to start their week off on the right foot.

Sony will shut down live TV service PlayStation Vue in January 2020

%name Sony will shut down live TV service PlayStation Vue in January 2020 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

New streaming services have been springing up consistently for years now, but in January, one is actually being shut down. On Tuesday, Sony announced that its live TV service, PlayStation Vue, will no longer be accessible starting on January 30th, 2020. If this is how you watch live TV, you’ll need to find a new service.

John Kodera, Deputy President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, blames “the highly competitive Pay TV industry” for the death of PlayStation Vue, as he claims it didn’t adapt as quickly as the company hoped it would. As a result, Sony has decided to focus on its gaming business instead, which has been a major driver over the last several years, and will likely continue to be one with the launch of the PlayStation 5 next holiday season.

Leak says Samsung’s next foldable phone might not look anything like the Galaxy Fold

%name Leak says Samsung’s next foldable phone might not look anything like the Galaxy Fold by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The first Samsung foldable phone is available in stores in select markets, and while it may represent a valiant effort from the company — hey, someone had to make one of these for us to realize the technology just isn’t there yet — it’s still a phone you should avoid. No matter how careful you might be with it, the Galaxy Fold is just too fragile, and you may end up ruining that foldable display without too much effort.

Samsung isn’t going to give up on making foldable phones just because of the initial Fold failures, though, and the Korean vendor is already expected to launch a Galaxy Fold 2 at some point next year. A brand new leak indicates the device might also deliver a completely different design.
