With Facebook making more of a concerted effort to ensure that its massive platform isn’t being used to spread lies and inflammatory disinformation, the social networking giant today revealed that it recently kicked off a network of fake profiles and group pages designed to just that. According to a blog post on the matter, Facebook said that the profiles in question can be traced back to groups located in both Iran and Russia.

All told, Facebook removed more than 100 profiles, about 23 pages, and upwards of 20 Instagram accounts for spreading a multitude of false stories across a variety of issues, including the conflict in the Middle East, U.S. relations with Iran, the Black Lives Matter movement, U.S. political figures, and more.

iOS 13’s Dark Mode proven to significantly boost battery life on OLED iPhones

%name iOS 13’s Dark Mode proven to significantly boost battery life on OLED iPhones by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the signature features of iOS 13 is Dark Mode, and as a major proponent of dark modes, I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to dim most of the apps on my phone after the sun sets. But it turns out that Dark Mode is more than just a visual upgrade — it could also extend the battery life of your iPhone substantially.

In order to prove this, YouTuber PhoneBuff performed an experiment with the iPhone XS Max to see whether or not turning on Dark Mode would actually have a noticeable impact on battery life, especially on an iPhone with an OLED display, where every pixel is powered on its own and black pixels are inactive.

Frontier is offering unheard-of discounts with fares as low as $20 – for today only

%name Frontier is offering unheard of discounts with fares as low as $20 – for today only by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Ahead of its publication in November, Barnes and Noble is currently offering a hardcover edition of author James Patterson’s newest title Criss Cross for preorder, at $20.30. I would spend at least that much money if I decided to go to the movies by myself tonight, buy some concessions and a ticket to, say, Joker. It costs me around $20 or so to fill up my car about halfway with gas — I could go on and on. My point is this:

It feels amazing to me that I could buy an airline ticket today, if I wanted, that costs roughly the same amount as those things. Frontier Airlines is currently offering discounted fares as part of one of the most ridiculously low-priced sales I’ve ever seen. For a measly $20, you could buy a one-way fare to a number of cities, such as from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. The main catch with this promotion? It ends today.

Apple to release a 16-inch MacBook Pro with a vastly improved keyboard by the end of the month

%name Apple to release a 16 inch MacBook Pro with a vastly improved keyboard by the end of the month by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple’s rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro is slated to launch by the end of October, according to a new report from Digitimes. The report adds that Apple’s next-gen MacBook Pro will boast thinner bezels than on current models and will incorporate next-gen chips from Intel.

Though the publication has something of a mixed track record when it comes to Apple rumors, we’ve seen enough reports from more credible sources over the past few weeks as to make the Digitimes report quite plausible.

Samsung is way too optimistic about how many foldables it wants to sell in 2020

%name Samsung is way too optimistic about how many foldables it wants to sell in 2020 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold hasn’t exactly set the smartphone world on fire, with the company reportedly on track to have sold around 500,000 or so of the much-maligned device by the end of this year. Nevertheless, Samsung has decided to go pedal to the metal when it comes to the company’s ambitions around foldable handsets, with Samsung reportedly planning to ramp up those efforts to try and sell 6 million foldables in 2020 — a 12-fold increase (no pun intended).

Huawei exec: Our Android alternative won’t be ready anytime soon – maybe for years

%name Huawei exec: Our Android alternative won’t be ready anytime soon – maybe for years by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Well, after months of quite assertive posturing from Huawei — that it could survive the ban from the Trump administration, thank you very much, and that it also has a Plan B for losing access to Android — the world’s #2 smartphone manufacturer seems to be changing its tune. In a new interview with The Financial Times, a senior executive with the company seems to finally come around to what we expected all along:

Namely, that any viable replacement the company could use in place of the Android mobile OS won’t be ready for a while — perhaps years.

Watch a snake eat another snake while being attacked by a wasp and remind yourself to avoid Florida

%name Watch a snake eat another snake while being attacked by a wasp and remind yourself to avoid Florida by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

To an outsider, Florida might seem like a lovely place. There’s a seemingly endless number of lovely beaches and near-tropical weather for a good chunk of the year, not to mention all the great parks and attractions to take in. That’s the Florida that they want you to see. The reality is a lot closer to this disturbing clip that is making the rounds on Twitter.

The video, posted by one Evangeline Cummings, is gruesome and strange and pretty much perfect. It shows a coral snake doing its best to feast on a fellow reptile while the two hang perilously from a branch. Oh, and a wasp is also attacking the snake, because Florida.
