We’ve known for several months that Motorola would be among the first smartphone vendors to launch a foldable phone. The company announced as much around the time the Galaxy Fold and Mate X were introduced. Reports claimed that Motorola was working on a foldable phone that will bring back the iconic Razr brand and flip design. The company never confirmed any of those rumors, nor did it announce any specifics about its foldable devices in the months that followed. The delayed launches of the Fold and Mate X may have played a part in that, as they could have given Motorola more time to refine its own foldable design and ensure it doesn’t encounter any embarrassing issues like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold. But Motorola is almost ready to unveil the foldable handset, and we already have a date for the announcement.

We’ve been waiting for Marvel to announce Deadpool 3 ever since Disney completed the Fox acquisition, regaining the rights to nearly all of the Marvel characters that weren’t available for Kevin Feige and Co.’s MCU. The list doesn’t only include Deadpool, but also Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Of those properties, however, it’s just the Deadpool franchise that won’t be rebooted, Disney confirmed. Ryan Reynolds will continue to play Wade Wilson/Deadpool and a third installment of the franchise is already in the works.

Reynolds has trolled fans a bunch of times already about Deadpool 3, most recently just a few days ago when he posted a photo on Instagram of his “failed” audition for an “Anthony Stark” role. We also learned recently that standalone Deadpool movies will continue to be R-rated, and the writers of the first two movies have just about confirmed that Deadpool will get to play with other MCU characters, teasing that we should expect crossovers down the road.

With hotly-anticipated new streaming media services set to pop up left and right in the coming months, there has been some uneasiness surrounding Netflix lately. Most or even all of it was erased on Wednesday afternoon, however, when Netflix announced third-quarter earnings and crushed the Street’s estimates. EPS climbed to $1.47 compared to earnings of $0.89 per share in the year-ago quarter, and revenue climbed to $5.25 billion from $3.91 billion in the third quarter last year. But the biggest news may have been the addition of 6.77 million new paying subscribers over the course of the quarter, which is a big bounce back from a disappointing second quarter. Despite the impending launches of Apple TV+ on November 1st, Disney+ on November 12th, and HBO Max early next year, Netflix has proven that it can still attract new customers to its ever-expanding catalog of streaming movies, shows, and specials. That said, global growth in markets outside of the United States could prove to be crucial in the coming years — while overall Q3 subscriber additions beat estimates, Netflix only added about 500,000 new subscribers in the US despite estimates that were north of 800,000. It was a big miss, though it was still seen as a victory by many industry watchers since Netflix actually lost US subscribers in the prior quarter.

Long story short, Netflix is in a good place right now. The company is obviously well aware that more competition is coming, but it doesn’t seem to be overly concerned about the longterm impact on its business. “Many are focused on the ‘streaming wars,’ but we’ve been competing with streamers (Amazon, YouTube, Hulu) as well as linear TV for over a decade,” Netflix said in a statement. “The upcoming arrival of services like Disney+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, and Peacock is increased competition, but we are all small compared to linear TV. While the new competitors have some great titles (especially catalog titles), none have the variety, diversity, and quality of new original programming that we are producing around the world.”

NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir are making history today. The pair are currently carrying out the first all-female spacewalk in the history of the International Space Station, performing some much-needed maintenance on the high-tech orbiting laboratory.

As is often the case, the spacewalk is being livestreamed by NASA, with cameras attached to both astronauts as well as external cameras affixed to the ISS itself. You can watch the lengthy operation live as it happens right here.

Earlier this week, a Galaxy S10 user discovered that her husband was able to unlock her phone despite the fact that his fingerprint hadn’t been registered with the device. It turns out that the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the S10 can recognize the 3D patterns that appear on certain silicone screen protectors as fingerprints, which means that anyone can unlock the phone if the fingerprint was registered when the screen protector was on.

Once news of the issue began to spread, Samsung quickly notified the press that it was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and on Friday, the South Korean company released a full statement.
