It’s finally Pixel 4 day, which means Google can share with the world all of the Pixel 4’s secrets — secrets which leaked well ahead of the press event, of course. The Pixel 4’s price, however, was one thing that didn’t get as much coverage in leaks. So far, three separate leaks suggested the Pixel 4 phones will be more expensive than their predecessors, but also more expensive than some of their direct competitors, including the iPhone 11 and OnePlus 7T, to name just a few. A last-minute Pixel 4 price leak, however, indicates the phone will cost just as much as the Pixel 3.

Much to the dismay of hardcore Fortnite players who can’t have enough of their favorite game, the Battle Royale hit was taken offline without warning on Sunday, with a black hole blocking all access. It was all a brilliant marketing stunt, and that much should have been clear from the moment the game offline. But we got the first unofficial confirmations that Fortnite is about to receive a significant update much later. Leaks on Monday explained that Epic Games was in the process of releasing Chapter 2 of the game, and season 11 with it, an update that’s supposed to bring several improvements, from a new map to new weapons, and new ways to play the game. Those leaks hinted that gameplay should resume on October 15th, although it wasn’t clear what time zone they referred to.

While Tesla’s initial master plan ended with the release of a mass market EV — which we now know as the Model 3 — the company’s automotive ambitions extend far beyond that. Looking ahead, Tesla has a number of intriguing vehicles in its product pipeline, including a crossover version of the Model 3 dubbed the Model Y, a next-gen Roadster, and the Tesla Semi. What’s more, Tesla has also been busy developing an all-electric pickup truck, a vehicle the company has been teasing for quite some time now.

Over the weekend, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed via Twitter that the official reveal for Tesla’s highly-anticipated pickup truck is still set for November. This is certainly encouraging news, especially in light of Tesla’s habit of making ambitious promises it’s not always capable of keeping.

Hookup apps blamed for STD spike

%name Hookup apps blamed for STD spike by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A few days ago the CDC issued an alarming new bulletin revealing that STD rates are skyrocketing across the United States. Cases of gonorrhea and syphilis have reached levels not seen for decades, and chlamydia is currently at an all-time high. It’s bad news, and it’s understandable that health officials want to get to the bottom of these alarming numbers as soon as possible.

So, what could possibly be leading to many new STD cases? Each state is doing its best to tackle the startling rise in STDs, but Hawaii’s Department of Health is one of the first to come out and say what everyone is already thinking: hookup apps are to blame.

California wildfires are no match for Tesla’s advanced ‘Bioweapon Defense Mode’

%name California wildfires are no match for Tesla’s advanced ‘Bioweapon Defense Mode’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Tesla’s “Bioweapon Defense Mode” feature is proving to be quite effective for California Tesla owners when it comes to withstanding the ongoing wildfires out west. As a quick refresher, the “Bioweapon Defense Mode” feature works to diminish the impact polluted air can have on a vehicle’s occupants.

Tesla notes that the feature was “inspired by the air filtration systems used in hospitals, clean rooms, and the space industry” and boasts that it’s capable of removing pollen, bacteria, and other types of outside pollution from the air before it enters the car.

Air pollution is killing fetuses before they’re born

%name Air pollution is killing fetuses before they’re born by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There’s no shortage of scientific evidence to show that air pollution can have seriously harmful effects on each and every once of us. Recent research suggests that the air quality in some major cities is so bad that it’s the equivalent of a pack-a-day smoking habit. Now, a new study out of China reveals that the dangerous effects of poor air quality extend to unborn fetuses as well.

The study, which was published in Nature Sustainability, focused on the patient records of over 255,000 pregnant women in Beijing between 2009 and 2017. The researchers examined the rates of miscarriage as well as the individual exposure of each expectant mother to various types of air pollution.

Smartphones with true all-screen designs might be closer than we thought

%name Smartphones with true all screen designs might be closer than we thought by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The smartphone design we all want is almost here, but handset vendors still have to iron out a few issues that prevent this perfect phone from existing. The phone we’re describing is truly all-screen, not with the kind of compromises we have now. As it stands, we have to accept workarounds like the notch (iPhone X and many others), hole-punch displays (Galaxy Note 10), sliding cameras (OnePlus 7T Pro and others), waterfall displays (Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha and Mate 30 Pro), and dual-screen designs (Nubia Z20), because there still are several elements on the front side of the screen that can’t be hidden.

The selfie camera is really what these design compromises are all about, but there are also other components that need to be adapted, including 3D face unlock components on some devices, as well as light and proximity sensors on others. Smartphone makers, however, are already developing actual all-screen devices where the front cameras and sensors are hidden under the display.

Apple says its new Jason Momoa show ‘See’ will be as good as ‘Game of Thrones’

%name Apple says its new Jason Momoa show ‘See’ will be as good as ‘Game of Thrones’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Everybody is familiar by now with the strategy of presidential campaigns in the run-up to the first of three head-to-head debates in the final days of the race. It’s when campaign surrogates try to dramatically amp up expectations about the other side (“Our guy will do good to just still be standing at the end”) so that their candidate looks even better after they exceed those expectations. It’s something of a game, in other words — one that not everybody believes in playing with the press. Apple appears to be following a similar path with Apple TV+.

Ahead of its launch next month, the company has decided to go ahead and try to raise expectations sky-high for the service. Take See, the new Jason Momoa-led series coming to Apple TV+, which presents a dystopian future of humanity in which the gift of sight is essentially wiped out.
