OnePlus 7T review: An Android flagship on par with the iPhone 11 Pro Max for literally half the price

%name OnePlus 7T review: An Android flagship on par with the iPhone 11 Pro Max for literally half the price by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After a few painfully boring years when smartphone makers released phone after phone that was pretty much the same as every other phone, 2019 has been a breath of fresh air. Apple’s new iPhone 11 series might look a lot like last year’s iPhones from afar, but the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max finally put Apple back on top of the pile where mobile photography, performance, and battery life are concerned. Then on the Android side of the fence, smartphone brands have been coming up will all sorts of exciting new designs and features. This is especially true in China, where companies haven’t merely reached the 100% screen-to-window ratio mark, they’ve surpassed it.

All sorts of exciting new designs have been released this year, which is a fantastic thing for consumers. Unfortunately, however, another trend has accompanied all this innovation: flagship smartphone prices are skyrocketing. High-end smartphones have gotten so expensive over the past year that the top companies in the market have begun to release cheaper, stripped-down versions of them in order to combat slumping sales. Handsets like the iPhone XR, Galaxy S10e, and iPhone 11 are priced in line with premium phones just a few short years ago, but now they sit at the top of the mid-range while flagship prices reach as high as $1,500 or even more. That’s no exaggeration — the top-of-the-line iPhone 11 Pro Max costs a whopping $1,449 before taxes!

That price tag is absolutely insane, there’s no doubt about it. But if you think it’s bad now, I’m about to make it even worse. OnePlus’ upcoming new flagship OnePlus 7T will feature cutting-edge specs, a 6.55-inch AMOLED display, and performance on par with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but it will cost literally half as much as Apple charges for its flagship phablet.

Sandwiched between Apple’s reveal of the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro earlier this month and Google’s Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL in October, OnePlus is taking the stage today to take the wraps off of its next flagship phone. Unlike most other vendors, OnePlus isn’t quite as secretive when it comes to smartphone releases, but either way, the OnePlus 7T has leaked extensively in the weeks ahead of the launch event, which kicks off at 10:30 AM ET.

According to the leaks, the OnePlus 7T will feature a 6.55-inch 2K AMOLED 90Hz display, Snapdragon 855+ CPU, 3800 mAh battery, triple camera system, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. We also know exactly what the phone is going to look like, because OnePlus CEO Pete Lau showed us last week.

DxOMark’s meaningless Mate 30 Pro camera review is even more meaningless than usual

%name DxOMark’s meaningless Mate 30 Pro camera review is even more meaningless than usual by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei launched the Mate 30 series last week, which includes the Mate 30 Pro that is one of the best if not the best Android handset of the year. You won’t find the Mate 30 Pro in US stores, which is hardly a surprise for a Huawei phone, and now there’s another reason why procuring one from overseas might not be worth the hassle. The phone ships without Google apps. Sure, it takes 10 minutes to get Google Play and all the Google apps back, but this doesn’t change the fact that the Mate 30 Pro will be a tough sell this year.

The one reason why you might go for the Mate 30 Pro in spite of all that is the camera, a quad-lens camera shooter that packs a bunch of exciting features. And if you were looking for some sort of proof that the Mate 30 Pro delivers a great camera experience you should know the phone now tops DxOMark’s rankings with the highest-ever score. Unfortunately, this particular DxOMark score is even more meaningless than they usually are.

If you have an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, there’s one default setting you need to fix right now

%name If you have an iPhone 11 or iPhone 11 Pro, there’s one default setting you need to fix right now by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you had asked Apple fans to be honest a few months ago, they likely would have told you that they were worried about the iPhone 11. So much information had leaked from reliable sources, including the phone’s new design and a bunch of new features that Apple had planned for its 2019 iPhone lineup. Leaks are nothing new, of course, but these particular leaks painted a picture of a new iPhone lineup that really wasn’t shaping up to be much of an upgrade over Apple’s iPhone models from last year. Sources that had almost always been reliable in the past suggested that the design of the iPhone 11 series was going to be exactly the same as the iPhone XR and iPhone XS, but with a big new camera bump. On top of that, none of the new features that had been revealed were terribly compelling.

Fast-forward to Apple’s launch and release of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, and we now know that the early leaks didn’t paint an accurate picture at all. Apple made a number of big design changes on the outside of its new iPhone models, and there are even bigger changes inside. The new 2019 iPhones are sleek, stylish, and incredibly powerful, plus the Pro models offer massive improvements where battery life is concerned. But there’s no question that the stars of the show on Apple’s iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro phones are the new cameras Apple introduced, and that’s where we need to focus for a moment.
