Scientists think they’ve solved the mystery of sunspots

We owe a lot to our Sun, and without it, well, we wouldn’t be here at all. Scientists have studied our star for a long time, and learned plenty about it over the years, but one of the mysteries that has endured for centuries is the sunspot cycle.

Every 11 years, the Sun produces far more sunspots — dark blotches on the star’s surface — than at any other time, and this cycle has always left researchers scratching their heads. Now, a new study out of the University of Washington suggests a possible explanation, and it hinges on the behavior of plasma.

Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro doesn’t have Google’s app store, but Android is still its future

%name Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro doesn’t have Google’s app store, but Android is still its future by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Mate 30 phones might be powered by EMUI 10 based on Android 10, but they’re not running Google’s version of Android. You won’t find the Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps, or Google Search, and that much was evident early in the Mate 30 presentation on Thursday. As soon as Huawei’s App Gallery app store appeared, it was obvious that Huawei would march ahead without Google, as long as the US ban is still in place.

That’s because Huawei is giving serious consideration to using Android as a base for its own OS. And it’s not even talking about HarmonyOS for smartphones, which is what we’re probably going to see one day on Huawei phones, ban or no ban. Huawei, forced by the US government, seems ready to put a lot of resources into mounting a sort of attack unlike anything we’ve seen before, though others have tried: Using Android against Google.

US Navy confirms recent UFO videos are, in fact, real

%name US Navy confirms recent UFO videos are, in fact, real by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

UFO sightings are a dime a dozen, but some are definitely more credible than others. Your neighbor two doors down that swears he saw a glowing triangle on the horizon probably didn’t see aliens, but when US Navy pilots spot something that, in their expert opinion, defies the laws of Earthly flight, well, that’s something to pay attention to.

A couple of years back, videos began to surface showing mysterious flying objects which were captured on video by military aircraft. The videos, complete with cockpit audio records, are truly incredible, and now the U.S. Navy has weighed in, admitting that nobody has any idea what they are.

A huge list of Samsung Galaxy phones set to be updated to Android 10 just leaked

%name A huge list of Samsung Galaxy phones set to be updated to Android 10 just leaked by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A leak earlier this week claimed that Samsung will soon release Android 10 betas for its 2019 flagships, including the Galaxy S10 series and the Note 10 series. That’s hardly surprising, considering that Samsung usually updates its latest flagships to Google’s most recent major Android version. If the rumor is correct, then the Android 10 update for the S10 and Note 10 models might drop a lot sooner than anticipated, maybe as soon as this winter. But a new leak gives us even better news: Samsung is apparently looking to update several other Android phones, although it’s unclear exactly when these devices will get Android 10.
