It’s now been nearly two full weeks since India’s lunar lander, Chandrayaan-2, went quiet moments before what was supposed to be a soft landing on the Moon. Rather than gracefully gliding to a halt, the spacecraft crashed, and its handlers back on Earth haven’t been able to establish contact since.

Last week, NASA said it would do its best to help by targeting the suspected crash site with its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. It was thought that if the LRO could capture a clear image of the downed spacecraft it might provide some additional information and help the India Space Research Organization decide how to proceed. Unfortunately, the LRO’s powerful camera just couldn’t spot the lander, and hope of salvaging the mission is fading rapidly.

On the same day that iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 were shipped to the public, Apple confirmed that its next major software release — iOS 13.1 — is coming even sooner than expected. At its keynote last week, Apple announced that iOS 13 would launch on September 19th, to be quickly followed by iOS 13.1 on September 30th.

Apparently, that eleven-day wait was too long, as Apple revealed today that the release of iOS 13.1 has been pushed up to Tuesday, September 24th. From anecdotal evidence among our staff and from reading about the experiences of dozens of iOS 13 beta users over the past several months, it’s clear why Apple started pushing out iOS 13.1 betas in the middle of the iOS 13 beta program. Basically, iOS 13 is a bit of a mess.

We’re just a day out from the launch of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, but you don’t need one of the new phones to enjoy Apple’s latest operating system. On Thursday, following a rather tumultuous series of beta releases, Apple started rolling out iOS 13 to the public. This comes three months after Apple unveiled the iOS update at WWDC 2019, and just over a week after the new iPhone 11 models were announced.

Some of the highlights of iOS 13 include speed improvements, smaller app file sizes, swipe typing on the keyboard, a completely revamped Reminders app, and, of course, Dark Mode. The new system-wide Dark Mode is integrated into every element of the UI, as well as all of the default Apple apps that ship with your device.
