If there’s one thing you can say about NASA it’s that the space agency really does do its best to make its projects accessible to even the most casual space fans. In recent years, NASA has made a habit out of sending the names of everyday people along for the ride during some of its most high-profile missions, and the upcoming Mars 2020 launch will be no different.

Back in May, NASA opened submissions for names to be included on the Mars 2020 mission. The names, which will be printed in almost impossibly small text on a chip included on the Mars 2020 rover, are being gathered via a sign-up form on the agency’s website. Now, with just a couple of weeks left before submissions are closed forever, NASA is making its “final boarding call.”

If you haven’t cut the cord yet, this survey might change your mind

As if anyone needed a reminder that the TV landscape continues to evolve, NBC announced this week that its forthcoming streaming service — named Peacock, after the network’s iconic logo — will be the home of a slew of content both new and old. The latter includes classic comedies like The Office and Parks and Recreation, adding NBC’s streamer that launches in April to the long list of services coming soon from Apple, Disney, and other big players.

One obvious consequence of the launch of these and other services: The inexorable growth in cord-cutting, as consumers abandon the cable TV industry in favor of streaming options that offer better pricing and convenience. And it’s with that in mind that two new surveys are out — from Roku and Consumer Reports — which both shine a new light on this unstoppable trend.

Google canceled the Pixel Watch years ago and never looked back

%name Google canceled the Pixel Watch years ago and never looked back by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’ve come across rumors detailing Google’s so-called Pixel Watch with some regularity, but the company never made a Wear OS gadget of its own that could compete against the Apple Watch.

Meanwhile, the Apple Watch kept growing, having virtually no rival in the market that stands a chance against the Apple Watch Series 5. But it turns out that Google did have a Pixel Watch ready back in fall of 2016 when it launched the first Pixel phones, but the company canceled the device in the 11th hour and never looked back.

Manufacturer halts distribution of generic Zantac after cancer-causing impurity discovery

%name Manufacturer halts distribution of generic Zantac after cancer causing impurity discovery by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When the FDA issued a bulletin alerting everyone to the presence of a possible cancer-causing impurity in the popular heartburn drug marketed as Zantac, the administration stopped short of telling people to stop taking the popular drugs. Now, in the wake of that news, shipments of a generic version of the drug are being halted.

In its release, the FDA noted that samples of the drug known as ranitidine, also sold under the brand name Zantac, tested positive for a potentially cancer-causing agent called N-nitrosodimethylamine, or NDMA. Levels of the carcinogen weren’t alarmingly high, but its presence alone was enough to warrant a public alert.

The most hotly anticipated Android phone this fall won’t launch in the US or Europe

%name The most hotly anticipated Android phone this fall won’t launch in the US or Europe by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The iPhone 11 series might be the hottest new phone lineup right now, but every other company in the business is trying to shift the conversation toward their own Android flagships. Several of the major smartphone makers out there have already unveiled new high-end devices (Galaxy Note 10, Vivo Nex 3) or are about to launch new handsets in the coming days and weeks (Huawei Mate 30 series, OnePlus 7T series, Pixel 4, Oppo Reno 2). Out of all of them, the Mate 30 Pro is easily the most anticipated Android of the fall, and it’s likely to be one of the best iPhone 11 alternatives of the year. That’s because we’re looking at the successor of a smartphone that was a few steps ahead of its Android competitors last year. Unfortunately for Huawei, the Mate 30 Pro won’t be a similar success, and that’s all because of the ban against the Chinese smartphone maker. Now, a brand new report seems to confirm the worst rumor about the Mate 30 Pro, claiming the entire Mate 30 series won’t be available in the US, which was obvious, but it apparently also won’t launch in Europe.
