Apple earlier today released a new trailer highlighting many of the games coming to its upcoming Apple Arcade subscription service. The video itself is relatively short but provides us with some captivating previews of what may very well prove to be a surprising money-maker for the company.

Apple originally introduced Apple Arcade at WWDC this past year and shed some new details on the service at the company’s special iPhone event earlier in the week. Set to launch on September 19 in more than 150 countries, Apple Arcade will offer subscribers over 100 exclusive titles for just $4.99 a month.

Apple unveiled quite a few products earlier this week during its iPhone 11 event — not just the new iPhones we’ve all been waiting to see. We learned the pricing structure for Apple’s new services, we got a new Apple Watch as well as trio of health studies, and a brand new affordable iPad that’s even bigger than the old one.

And then there were the three new phones, including the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max, and all their special features that needed a proper introduction. The event was rather long, and we covered all the announcements coming from Tim Cook and company as it happened. But if you want to relive it, Apple created a whimsical two-minute clip of the entire press conference and introduced a hilarious Easter egg in it.

We’re only a little more than a week away from the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, when HBO and the team behind Game of Thrones will most assuredly scoop up an impressive haul of golden statuettes. Fitting, then, that the news has begun to leak out today confirming rumors that had been circulating for a while now — namely, that HBO is nowhere close to leaving the Game of Thrones franchise behind and is reportedly poised to actually greenlight a second Thrones prequel series to complement the Naomi Watts-led prequel which just finished shooting its pilot episode.

A pair of asteroids are about to whiz past Earth, but we’ll be fine

%name A pair of asteroids are about to whiz past Earth, but we’ll be fine by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the great things about having powerful observational tools to scan the heavens is that we have a good chance of spotting potential planet-killing asteroids before they actually get here. The other side of that coin is that scientists keeping an eye on possible threats have to sift through lots and lots of space rocks that will never pose a problem for our planet.

That’s the case for a pair of asteroids set to pass by Earth in the next couple of days. The rocks, called 2010 C01 and 2000 QWZ are considered “near-Earth objects” because their orbit brings them close enough that researchers consider them worth watching, but their trajectory won’t put them on a collision course with our home.

HBO’s next attempt to replace ‘Game of Thrones’ launches on November 4th

%name HBO’s next attempt to replace ‘Game of Thrones’ launches on November 4th by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With Game of Thrones over, fans of the series are probably looking for a similar alternative, and studios, HBO included, have already created several series that could rival Thrones.

Amazon is betting on Carnival Row, which is already streaming, and especially on the Lord of the Rings TV show that’s already in the works. Netflix, meanwhile, has adapted the popular Witcher novels, and the show’s launch date is rumored to be December 17th. HBO, meanwhile, is working both on a Thrones spinoff that has yet to get a launch date, but also on His Dark Materials, which will be available in early November.

Google is now shamelessly ripping off Instagram, because why not?

%name Google is now shamelessly ripping off Instagram, because why not? by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The trend of adding an Instagram-like “Stories” bubble at the top of apps rolls on, with Google’s Photos app now the latest to jump on the bandwagon.

A new feature is rolling out in the app starting today called “Memories,” which essentially tweaks an existing feature that regularly treats users to a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Frequent users of the app will be familiar with the “rediscover this day” feature, which routinely resurfaced old photos you took on a certain day within the app’s “Assistant” tab. That feature is what’s being turned into an Instagram Stories-like bubble that will now sit at the top of the app.

Looking for something to put on your desk or in your living room that’ll really draw attention and get people talking? We’ve got just the thing. The EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem is basically a little self-sustaining world that you can get on Amazon for as little as $50. These crazy spheres are filled with water, some decorative bits, algae, and real marine shrimp that are actually alive! The shrimp eat the algae as it grows, the algae clean the shrimp’s waste, and on and on the cycle goes. These EcoSpheres are awesome and you definitely need to check one out.

EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem, Small Sphere, with Turntable Base: $49.45

EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem, Medium Sphere, with Turntable Base: $155.99

EcoSphere Closed Aquatic Ecosystem, Large Sphere, with Turntable Base: $207.63

Here’s what you need to know from the product page:

Medium Sphere EcoSphere with turntable base. This fascinating enclosed world contains 7 to 8 marine shrimp, algae and micro-organisms. Made from hand blown glass, each EcoSphere is a completely enclosed, self-sustaining little world. The EcoSphere only needs indirect light and comfortable room temperature (between 60F and 80F.) The EcoSphere works on the basis that a closed system recycles its nutrients and does not produce excess waste. The shrimp consume the algae and micro-organisms and they, in turn, break down the shrimp waste. External light, either artificial or natural, keeps the algae growing. There is no feeding or water changes required. Each EcoSphere comes with a replacement, recharge or upgrade policy.

Of all the planets in our solar system, most people would agree that Saturn is the most instantly recognizable. Its massive rings make it an unmistakable sight, but despite its celebrity status among us Earthlings, there’s still plenty we don’t know about it. Now, a new series of images captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope is helping to shed light on the iconic planet.

As NASA explains in a new blog post, this new portrait reveals some interesting things about Saturn’s ring structure and even offers some clues about the planet’s intense weather.

For as much as the iPhone camera has improved over the past few years, low light photography has long remained one area where Apple’s smartphone has been somewhat lacking relative to the competition. Not only that, but companies like Google and Huawei over the past few months have been absolutely killing it when it comes to low light photography.

In particular, Night Sight mode on Google’s Pixel devices and Huawei’s P30 Pro take such crisp, vibrant, and detailed shots in low light environments that the software almost seems magical. With that said, it will be interesting to see how Night mode on the iPhone 11 stacks up against the competition once it starts shipping in about a week from now.
