LG’s new dual-screen phone has a design decision we really can’t stand

%name LG’s new dual screen phone has a design decision we really can’t stand by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Even though we’re well aware that LG is developing a few exciting concepts for foldable phones, the company is yet to embrace the foldable movement. And who can really blame them given that foldable phones aren’t easy to make or sell. Instead, unlike any other smartphone makers out there who’re carving up sleeker and better flagships, LG is going for a type of device that should never be allowed to exist in the current market place: a dual-screen phone that looks uglier and more cumbersome to use than a foldable device. And somehow, LG G8X Thin Q’s second screen features a secondary notch that serves no purpose.

BGR has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. BGR and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Generally speaking, whenever you come across a public welcome offer from a credit card issuer — which could be something like, say, an incentive of 100,000 rewards points to sign up for the card — what you see is what you get. That’s the offer, pretty much everyone is eligible to get the same offer, and that’s that. With just a little bit of extra effort on your part, however, that may not actually be the end of the story — because, every now and then, banks will target specific customers with even better offers than the publicly available enticements.

‘The Matrix’ deepfake shows Will Smith as Neo, in the role he turned down

%name ‘The Matrix’ deepfake shows Will Smith as Neo, in the role he turned down by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Earlier this year, Will Smith filmed a fun, lighthearted confessional video in which he explains why — back in the 1990s when he was at the height of his success as a Hollywood mega-star — he turned down a huge role.

This was back when he was still riding high on the strength of roles in TV shows and movies like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Independence Day. The role he got offered and declined, however, was that of Neo, the main character in The Matrix who, of course, was ultimately played superbly by Keanu Reeves.

Google launches a brilliant, Tinder-style TV and movie recommender inside Search

%name Google launches a brilliant, Tinder style TV and movie recommender inside Search by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

One of the byproducts of the ongoing Streaming Wars that have come to characterize the modern entertainment landscape, with Netflix continuing to evolve and new streaming platforms launching almost everywhere you look, is that it’s never been this fun to be a TV fan. There’s more great content than ever to watch — which is also its own kind of problem. For some people, the paralysis of choice makes it harder than ever to answer the question of what to watch, since there’s more than ever to pick from.

Today, Google launched a new kind of recommender that functions a little like a TV guide with some fun Tinder-esque functionality, to make picking what you want to watch a little easier.

Ocean buoy reveals birds hanging out in eye of Hurricane Dorian

%name Ocean buoy reveals birds hanging out in eye of Hurricane Dorian by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Whenever a powerful storm threatens coasts, we often focus on the potential impact on human lives and infrastructure. It can sometimes be easy to forget that hurricanes can severely disrupt the lives of wildlife as well, but some new images from a buoy in Hurricane Dorian’s eye is a great reminder.

The photos, first tweeted out by the National Weather Service in Charleston, South Carolina, show the conditions inside the eye. As you’d expect, there are relatively calm waters, a wall of clouds covering the horizon on all sides and… wait a second, are those birds?
