Taking a trip to your local thrift shop probably isn’t going to yield any remarkable discoveries. You’ll probably find a few broken printers, an incomplete set of silverware or two, and lots of clothing that smells vaguely like mothballs. So, when a bargain hunter in Hertfordshire, England, listed a small vase purchased at a local thrift shop on eBay, they couldn’t possibly have expected their £1 investment to turn into £80,000.

The vase, which stands a mere eight inches tall, was picked up for next to nothing, but it got a lot of attention once it appeared on eBay. Art collectors flocked to the listing, prompting the unnamed owner to withdraw it from bidding and have it appraised. Now, it’ll appear in a fine art auction where it is expected to make its seller very, very happy.

Nintendo Switch Online is finally getting SNES games – here are the first 20

It was only a matter of time, but Nintendo finally announced that Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) titles are coming to the Nintendo Switch Online service starting this Thursday, September 5th. Switch owners have waited for this announcement ever since Switch Online launched with a selection of NES titles, and although it took a little longer than expected, it will be a welcome addition to the paid service.

Best of all, the addition of SNES games won’t change the price of the service, and won’t require you to do anything differently. If you subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online now, or plan to in the future, you will automatically gain access to the full collection of NES and SNES games right away as of tomorrow.

These were the most-watched shows across your favorite streaming platforms in August

Amazon found a surprise streaming hit at the end of July with its launch of The Boys, a comedy series that offers an irreverent take on what a gang of Earth’s mightiest, potty-mouthed heroes — with the show’s central conceit being that these are superheroes you don’t look up to. They don’t use their power for good, necessarily.

The series, which Amazon quickly picked up for a second season, debuted on the streamer two months to the day after Avengers: Endgame landed in theaters. It’s possible that fans of the superhero genre were still hungry for something else along those lines, with Marvel tying a bow on its run of 22 movies in that chapter of the MCU.

The Galaxy Note 10 that Samsung just launched is one of the best phones you can buy right now. It has a great screen, a speedy processor, faster than ever storage and an improved camera system. But, less than a month since Samsung unveiled the flagship, we already have an even better device, made with gaming in mind.

That’s because Android vendors keep making gaming phones, which are essentially flagship handsets that are even more powerful than the regular flagships.

iPhone 11 price will prevent many users from upgrading, survey finds

%name iPhone 11 price will prevent many users from upgrading, survey finds by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Thanks to market saturation and incremental upgrades, it seems that the excitement for Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 11 lineup isn’t as palpable as we’ve seen in years past. In light of that, it will be interesting to see how Apple’s next-gen iPhones perform from a sales perspective. Recall, Apple’s earnings report for the June quarter revealed that the iPhone accounted for less than half of Apple’s total revenue, something we haven’t seen since 2012.

In an effort to better ascertain how consumers will respond to Apple’s iPhone 11 lineup, Wallethub recently surveyed more than 1500 iPhone owners and came away with some interesting data points. Specifically, the survey revealed that “28% fewer people plan on buying the new iPhone this year than last year.”

Nintendo Direct September 2019 live stream: 40 minutes of Switch game news

%name Nintendo Direct September 2019 live stream: 40 minutes of Switch game news by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

This may very well be the last fall season for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One with two new consoles on the way next year, but we are still right in the middle of the life cycle for the Nintendo Switch. In fact, this could be the busiest holiday season the Switch has seen since it launched back in 2017, and in order to get everyone hyped up for all of the upcoming games, Nintendo is hosting a 40-minute long Nintendo Direct at 6 PM ET on Wednesday.

This is the first Nintendo Direct since E3 2019 in June, and though Nintendo says it will focus on 2019 Switch games that have already been announced, the stream is scheduled to last just as long as the E3 Direct. It’s not an especially bold prediction, but I have a feeling the company has a few surprises in store for the live stream.

Roku just unveiled a $180 soundbar that can stream content to your TV

%name Roku just unveiled a $180 soundbar that can stream content to your TV by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Roku’s hardware portfolio just got a little larger, thanks to the unveiling Wednesday of the company’s new Smart Soundbar that functions as both a TV speaker as well as a Roku media player that can serve up a ton of content without the need for a separate device.

Among its key features, the soundbar houses four different drivers to help it deliver a big improvement over your existing TV speakers. You’ll also get “automatic volume leveling” with the new soundbar, which retails for about $179.99 and which means you shouldn’t have to use a remote anymore to keep adjusting the volume because of loud and then softer volume and dialogue.
