Don’t get your hopes up for a secret Spider-Man deal between Sony and Disney

%name Don’t get your hopes up for a secret Spider Man deal between Sony and Disney by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Spider-Man is no longer a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we’ve explained in great detail what happened between Sony and Disney. Sony chose to go forward with the character on its own, looking to launch a Spider-Man-based equivalent of the MCU that eill feature several of the other Marvel characters it owns. The other option, which Sony rejected, was to give Disney a cut as high as 30% of the box office take for future Spider-Man films, according to reports. Meanwhile, Marvel will go forward with its own MCU expansion plans that don’t depend on Spider-Man whatsoever.

A new deal between the two studios is certainly possible at some point in the future. But if you’ve heard that Sony and Disney cut a new deal in secret since they confirmed the split a few weeks ago, that’s almost certainly not accurate information.

Google just released Android 10

%name Google just released Android 10 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As expected, Google rolled out Android 10 on Tuesday for all Pixel devices. The release date wasn’t shared ahead of time, but Canadian mobile carrier Rogers let the secret slip by including the date in its public schedule of OS updates. The schedule listed the Pixel, Pixel 2, Pixel 3, and Pixel 3a, as well as their XL counterparts. Every phone was set to receive “Android Q” (which has since been renamed Android 10) on September 3rd.

Google’s own smartphones are always the first to receive new versions of the Android mobile operating system, so if you own a Pixel, you can start downloading Android 10 right now. Everyone else will have to wait, though there have been hints that the OnePlus 7 Pro will update to Android 10 today as well.

Sorry, binge-lovers: Some of Netflix’s newest shows won’t be released as full seasons anymore

%name Sorry, binge lovers: Some of Netflix’s newest shows won’t be released as full seasons anymore by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Netflix is soon to face some of its toughest challenges yet, thanks in part to the imminent launch in November of Disney+ with the massive pile of streaming content it’s already assembled to offer fans of Disney’s myriad brands plenty to binge for a low monthly price.

One of the aspects of the Disney+ user experience that hasn’t been talked about too much yet is the fact that some of its shows, like The Mandalorian, will be released week-to-week instead of the familiar all-at-once binge, Netflix-style. Hulu’s originals (Hulu, of course, also being a Disney-owned property) has already gone done this road — and it should perhaps come as no surprise that Netflix, looking over its shoulders, is experimenting with this format, as well.

ESA forced to redirect satellite after SpaceX ignores collision risk

%name ESA forced to redirect satellite after SpaceX ignores collision risk by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You’d never be able to tell from the ground, but the area around Earth is getting a bit crowded. Fully functional satellites from NASA, the European Space Agency, and other groups have to regularly account for all manner of manmade space junk, and occasionally they even have to dodge one another.

That’s exactly what happened on Monday, as the ESA’s Aeolus observation satellite fired its thrusters to push it away from a potential collision with a SpaceX Starlink satellite. Everything appears safe now, but what’s particularly interesting about the incident is that SpaceX apparently didn’t care enough about a possible collision to do anything about it.
