Wireless noise cancelling headphones are the sort of thing you can’t fully appreciate until you try. The music is loud enough on normal headphones to block out sound, so why do you need noise cancellation, right? Then you try them for the first time and you get that “aha moment” we’ve all experienced before. The problem, of course, is that most wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC) are quite expensive. As it turns out, there are actually several different pairs of wireless ANC headphones that are both affordable and shockingly good, like the TaoTronics SoundSurge 60 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones. They’re a bargain at $60, but clip the Amazon coupon and use the promo code ECQDWW3T at checkout, and you’ll get these top-rated headphones for only $39.99!

Apple will unveil the iPhone 11 series next week, likely alongside new Apple Watch models, but these aren’t the only new iOS products the company is developing. In fact, some of them might not be introduced until a much later date, and we’re not talking about the 2019 iPad Pro models that should be announced in October. A discovery in an internal iOS 13 development build suggests Apple hasn’t stopped developing its rumored augmented reality (AR) glasses, revealing some details about the unreleased device.

Netflix released its new 10-episode series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance on Friday, leading into the long Labor Day weekend, giving fans of fantasy adventures like this a new world to dive into.

It’s actually a prequel to the Jim Henson 1983 movie, The Dark Crystal, which got dramatically overshadowed when it was released back then by a movie about an alien you might have heard of — Steve Spielberg’s E.T., which opened six months prior in December 1982.

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Sep. 1)

%name Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Sep. 1) by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s not often that licensed content outshines Netflix’s original releases, but that’s certainly the case in the first week of September. Sunday, September 1st is packed with solid third-party flicks, from Stripes to Superbad to 300. Plus, The Two Towers and The Return of the King are coming back to Netflix, so if you’ve got nothing better to do on this lazy Sunday ahead of Labor Day, why not post up on your couch and watch The Lord of the Rings?

The one Netflix original series that I am intrigued by this week is The Spy, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen and “is inspired by the real-life story of former Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who successfully goes undercover in Syria in the early 1960s.” Not a typical role for the Borat star, but could be fascinating.

This incredible app lets you control your iPhone with your eyes

%name This incredible app lets you control your iPhone with your eyes by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A few years back, Samsung made an effort to popularize an ‘eye-tracking’ feature on its line of Galaxy flagships. It was a novel idea, but it didn’t exactly take the world by storm. While such a feature didn’t quite resonate with a mainstream audience, that’s not to see that there aren’t use-case scenarios where eye-tracking software can be incredibly useful.

To this point, developers at Hawkeye Labs recently demoed a video that illustrates how iOS users can control an iOS device using solely their eyes. As evidenced below, iOS users can use Hawkeye Labs’ technology — which relies upon Apple’s TrueDepth camera — to browse the web completely hands-free.

Some of your favorite ‘Stranger Things’ characters almost looked a lot different

%name Some of your favorite ‘Stranger Things’ characters almost looked a lot different by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

“Jopper” is the affection fan-named pairing of old childhood flames Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers on Netflix’s Stranger Things, with the bestowing of that nickname a testament not only to how much fans adore the gruff sheriff and loving mom but also how perfectly matched the actors are who portray them.

So perfectly matched, in fact, that it’s almost impossible to see how the Duffer Brothers, who created the hit Netflix series, were considering Ewan McGregor and Sam Rockwell at one point for the role of Hopper. While Naomi Watts and Marissa Tomei were likewise possible considerations for the character of Ms. Byers.

%name Watch a man brazenly light a cigarette at gunpoint during an armed robbery by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you think you’re cool under pressure, you’ve got absolutely nothing on a St. Louis man who — in a scene that could have easily been part of a Tarantino movie — calmly and brazenly lit a cigarette while the bar he was in was being robbed.

Not only that, our fearless hero refused to let the robber snatch his smartphone away. All the while, the robber was carrying around an assault weapon that was later revealed to be a Hi-Point Carbine. If that sounds familiar, the Hi-Point Carbine was one of the weapons used during the 1999 Columbine school shooting.
