Over the past few years, one of the hallmarks of Apple’s strategy to boost iPhone sales has been to actively convince Android users to make the switch over to iOS. All told, it’s been a solid strategy given that iPhone owners, historically speaking, have tended to be more loyal to Apple than Android owners are to whatever brand of smartphone they happen to be using.

That said, the dynamics that govern the smartphone market are always changing. Rules of thumb that may have applied 5 years ago, for example, may be completely different today. As a prime example, the notion that iPhone users upgrade their devices en masse every two years has been completely turned on its head. These days, iPhone users are hanging onto their devices for upwards of four years before upgrading.

Game of Thrones is dead and buried, leaving behind a massive vacuum that everyone is looking to take advantage of. HBO is working on two separate fantasy shows, including a Thrones prequel as well as His Dark Materials, based on the novel trilogy of the same name. Amazon also has two series in the works that will attempt to deliver the same type of fantasy stories, filled with political intrigue, spectacular action, and varying levels of gratuitous nudity — I’m just speculating on that last bit. We’re looking at Carnival Row, which premieres later this month, and The Lord of the Rings TV series that hasn’t even started shooting.

But it’s Netflix’s upcoming The Witcher series that seems like it could be the closest thing we get to a Game of Thrones replacement, with the first season of the TV series set to premiere on the streaming service by late 2019.

India is now poised to become the fourth country on Earth to pull off a soft Moon landing. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) launched the Chandrayaan-2 mission in late July — after a “technical snag” delayed the launch by about a week — and it just hit another major milestone on its way to achieving the ultimate goal.

The Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft successfully entered lunar orbit just hours ago, completing a delicate maneuver that allowed it to transition from an Earth-centric orbit to a new path that orbits Earth’s tiny neighbor instead. This will allow the ISRO team to begin planning for an eventual landing near the Moon’s south pole.

While this console generation has begun to wind down, there are still a few massive games slated to release before the PS4 and Xbox One go the way of the dodo next fall. One of those games is Marvel’s Avengers, which has been the subject of controversy ever since it was officially unveiled at E3 2019 in June.

Marvel has had a relatively sustained track record when it comes to games in recent years, from Spider-Man on PS4 breaking sales records and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 resurrecting a beloved franchise, but no one knew quite what to make of Square Enix’s Avengers game. Part of that skepticism came from the fact that the studio wasn’t ready to show off gameplay less than a year from launch, but as of today, we can finally see the game in action.
