The slow drip of hardware releases continues as Apple unveiled an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro model on Monday morning. Rumors of a new MacBook had been swirling around the internet for weeks, and on Monday, Apple shared a press release detailing the laptop. The most notable change is the addition of the new Magic Keyboard that previously appeared on the 16-inch MacBook Pro and the latest MacBook Air model. With a redesigned scissor mechanism and a physical Escape key, Apple has addressed many of the keyboard’s biggest issues.

If you’re a hardcore Apple fan and you follow all the latest rumors and leaks, you’ve undoubtedly read several times by now that Apple’s iPhone 12 release is likely delayed. Nothing is known with absolute certainty, of course, but more and more rumblings suggest that Apple will end up missing its customary mid-September release timeframe. The novel coronavirus pandemic has been wreaking havoc around the world for months now, and it will continue to disrupt our lives for the foreseeable future. Practically everyone and everything is impacted in one way or another, including the factories in China and elsewhere that manufacture consumer electronics.

The most recent reports have said that iPhone 12 mass-production has been pushed back by at least one month. If true, that means one of two things: either Apple’s iPhone 12 models will be released on time in September and they’ll be in very short supply, or Apple will push the release back to sometime in October or November. Whatever the case, we still have at least four months and change before Apple reveals its new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro designs. Unfortunately for Apple and luckily for us, however, the new designs have already leaked.

Apple released a bunch of new products in the past few weeks, despite the coronavirus pandemic that makes it impossible to visit Apple retail stores in most countries. The list includes of new releases includes the new iPad Pro and Magic Keyboard, cheaper MacBook Air, and the iPhone SE refresh, all of which are available to order online. Apple is yet to upgrade the MacBook Pro line, although we already have several rumors detailing the upcoming releases. Apple is expected to replace the 13.3-inch MacBook with a 14-inch model, just like it did with the 15.6-inch version that got a 16-inch display upgrade last year. On top of that, Apple might launch its first ARM MacBook later this year, part of the rumored plan to replace Intel chips with its custom A-series processors. • So far, Netflix has been pretty unstoppable during the coronavirus pandemic, when most TV and movie productions have been forced to shut down and we’re all stuck at home with nothing but time.
• In recent days, for example, the streamer debuted Extraction, a new Netflix original movie starring Chris Hemsworth and produced by the Russo brothers of Avengers: Endgame fame — and Netflix claims some 90 million households have already watched at least part of the movie.

It’s been described as Ozark meets The O.C. That’s certainly one way to put it, in case you haven’t yet checked out Outer Banks — the umpteenth Netflix original to debut on the streamer this year, never mind the global pandemic raging outside, and the latest in what’s been a string of super-buzzy projects from Netflix since January.

So far in 2020, Netflix has given us series like The Circle, Tiger King, Too Hot to Handle, new seasons of Ozark and Money Heist, and now this. • Some hotels in Japan are now being used to house patients experiencing mild coronavirus symptoms.
• Patients arriving at one such hotel in Tokyo are being greeted by a robot named Pepper that, in addition to offering up pleasantries, can also provide guests with simple directions.

With many hospitals operating at or near capacity on account of the coronavirus, we’ve seen some interesting approaches to dealing with patients who either have light corona symptoms or who need medical care for other reasons.

Just a few weeks ago, for example, New York City brought in a floating hospital called the U.S.N.S comfort to help treat patients suffering from ailments outside of the coronavirus. It was an interesting idea, but the ship didn’t prove to be as useful as anticipated and was only docked for about four weeks before departing.

Two things make Avengers: Endgame the ultimate superhero movie, but they’re both valid only if you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and have seen every single film released before the epic conclusion that made nearly $3 billion at the box office. First of all, Endgame is the culmination of 10 years of intertwined MCU stories. Like in Infinity War, you get to see all these characters come together on screen in new ways. The more familiar with are with all of them, the more satisfying the film is. Secondly, Endgame is one of the few superhero movies where it’s clear from the beginning that you’re not going to get a perfect happy end. In most superheroes flicks, the bad guys die and the good guys survive. It’s rare to get a darker tone in superhero movies and even more unusual to see some of your favorite characters perish in order to help save the day.

The question is, will Marvel be tempted to ruin Endgame in the years to come?
