A war of words between the US and China has been escalating this week, with both sides directing increasingly pointed criticism at the other as the response to the coronavirus pandemic that originated in China enters a new phase.
Tensions between both countries were already strained pre-coronavirus. And now, a video released by a Chinese state-run media outlet uses Legos to blast what it presents as a bumbling US response to the deadly COVID-19 coronavirus. The video presents China as the hero of the coronavirus pandemic, naturally.

So it’s come to this. Tensions between the US and China, which were already strained well before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, have apparently hit enough of a low that a state-run media agency in the country has released a video in which cute Lego characters depict the respective responses to the pandemic from both China and the US. (Spoiler: The video shows China as the good guys and the US as bumbling fools).

The video was released on Thursday by the Xinhua News Agency, following President Trump’s declaration on Wednesday that China’s central government is purposefully working to hurt the president’s re-election chances. “The high-volume attacks against China, including absurd and ill-disposed calls for inquiry, lawsuits, and compensation to hold China liable for coronavirus damage, all stem from the desperate effort to divert domestic attention and shield their own incompetence and mistakes from scrutiny,” the Chinese media outlet shot back on Friday.

The drug has proved to be effective against the novel coronavirus and can significantly reduce the recovery time for some COVID-19 patients. However, there is no evidence so far that suggests remdesivir can reduce the mortality rate of COVID-19. It can be speculated that the earlier you diagnose a patient and put him or her on a therapy that includes remdesivir, the less likely the chances that he or she might develop complications. But more research will be needed to see what happens if the drug is administered early enough.

Still, having remdesivir as a new standard therapy is precisely the kind of progress the world needs until vaccines are ready. And now, Fauci says that millions of COVID-19 vaccines might be ready much sooner than expected.

Like the other two AirPods models that are currently available, Apple’s AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case have been on sale at a discount on Amazon for several weeks now. They’ll cost you $199 if you order them from Apple, but Amazon is offering the exact same true wireless earbuds for just $169.

That’s a terrific deal, but we’ll note that the other two versions are also available with solid discounts. The $159 AirPods 2 with a regular Lightning case are down to $139, and Apple’s best-selling AirPods Pro with active noise cancellation are available at Black Friday’s all-time low price on Amazon.
