Big providers like Comcast and Time Warner Cable may want to cling to the past but it looks like smaller cable providers seem to know that cord cutting is actually the future. The Wall Street Journal reports that smaller cable providers are increasingly placing more emphasis on their broadband offerings and less on TV packages as consumers have shown that they would much rather have a faster Internet service than hundreds of channels they never watch.

Whenever mobile malware comes up, the usual reports detail new malicious apps that are found to affect Android, while iOS remains largely unaffected by such programs. However, The New York Times now says that security researchers have discovered a sophisticated malware attack that’s currently spreading in Hong Kong between Occupy Central protesters, and which is able to infect and then spy upon both Android and iOS devices.

We absolutely love the new time lapse video feature that Apple has added to its iPhone cameras if for no other reason than it’s enabling iPhone users around the world to take some incredible videos and share them with everyone. One such video was uploaded onto Vimeo recently and it shows what a gorgeous afternoon in London looks like when it’s speeding by in the span of 21 seconds.

It’s pretty much accepted that when a Christopher Nolan film comes out, it’s an event. Leading up to that event, Nolan just teases moviegoers to the point that viewers don’t know what the movie is about. Over the weekend, AT&T announced a data plan promotion which would allow customers to sign up for double the data at the same price as their current plans. Verizon Wireless on Wednesday announced that it is cancelling plans to throttle subscribers with grandfathered unlimited data plans. Back in July, the nation’s top carrier had said it would being slowing data speeds for the top 5% of data users in congested areas, and the new policy was set to go into effect on October 1st. According to a statement released on Wednesday afternoon — the same day throttling was set to begin — Verizon will no longer take any measures to limit data speeds.

Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled Windows 10 — not Windows 9, as users were expecting — and revealed various Windows 10 features, although not all of them. Microsoft focused on assuring existing Windows users that it understood their main concerns with Windows 8, and showed off various user interface changes that are supposed to offer both future desktop and tablet Windows 10 users a much better experience than Windows 8.
