Anyone considering picking up a smartwatch in the near future is keeping a close eye on the Moto 360, but LG is doing everything it can to get the attention of potential customers. In fact, after launching a solid contender in the G Watch earlier this summer, LG went straight back to the drawing board in order to build an even more competitive entry for later in the year. Now, as Motorola waits to detail its own smartwatch, the G Watch R has already been dated for October 14th.

Actually, that’s not true — as you can probably guess, it’s Samsung that’s getting hit with yet another intellectual property suit from yet another different company. Chipmaker Nvidia announced on Thursday that it’s launching a patent infringement lawsuit against both Samsung and Qualcomm for allegedly infringing on its patents related to mobile graphics processors. Nvidia says that this is the first patent lawsuit in the company’s history of more than two decades, and we’re sure that Samsung is honored to be part of this important milestone.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, my grandmother ran a restaurant. It was in the middle of nowhere North Carolina, a solid 20 miles from any town of size in either direction. The exterior wasn’t much to look at, and the view was simply fields upon fields upon fields. Inside, however, was a different story. Inez’s Restaurant (simple times called for simple names, folks) was home to hand-patted hamburgers, hand-cut fries, apple turnovers, and a soft serve ice cream machine that I attempted to deplete daily while growing up. With less than a week to go before the grand unveiling of the iWatch, new details keep pouring in. Earlier on Thursday we learned from The Wall Street Journal that the device would come in two different sizes and would be equipped with NFC technology to facilitate wireless mobile payments. And now a new report from The New York Times has just confirmed two more key details about the iWatch: It will come with wireless charging and feature a flexible display.

Yes, it turns out that being able to fly is just as cool as you imagined. A Mexican soccer team recently strapped a GoPro camera to its resident trained eagle and captured some incredible footage of the bird soaring over El Estadio Azteca in Mexico City before landing somewhat awkwardly on the pitch. The video was filmed with a GoPro Hero3+, which weighs in at just 4.8 ounces with its complete housing and thus isn’t nearly heavy enough to seriously weigh the eagle down during its flight. Even so, we’re sure that PETA won’t be too happy with this video but we’re still glad they filmed it because it’s so incredibly cool.

It’s been a busy week for privacy and security related to personal data, obviously caused by a certain celebrities’ nudes hack, so it’s not entirely surprising to see Facebook double down on privacy at this time. The company on Thursday announced that its Privacy Checkup tool – which was first mentioned a few months ago – is finally rolling out to users in order to help them make sure they’re sharing status updates, posts and other things only with the people they want.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 smartphone on Wednesday at IFA 2014 but it never actually revealed when the device will be launched other than saying it’ll be available in U.S. in early October. But a new report from Dutch publication Galaxy Club seems to indicate the actual release date of the phablet, and from the looks of it potential buyers may have to wait more than a month to get it.
