Game demos had a minor resurgence during the last generation. Sprint’s not going down without a fight. The carrier on Thursday announced a new plan for individual subscribers that would give them unlimited talk, text and data for just $60 per month, the lowest price of any unlimited data plan offered by a major wireless carrier in the United States. Things have been going very poorly for Sprint for the last several years and T-Mobile is eager to kick the company while it’s down. T-Mobile on Thursday announced a new program that would give free data plan upgrades to its Simple Choice customers if they refer friends from other major carriers — and T-Mobile made sure to pay special attention to disgruntled Sprint customers.

After months of leaks and hints, Microsoft is finally prepared to unveil the next version Windows. The Verge reports that Microsoft will hold a press event on September 30th to officially announce Windows 9 and discuss details of the upcoming release. Microsoft is expected to launch a preview version of the new OS on the same day or in the first days of October, following earlier reports from ZDNet which pegged the same dates for the release.

Handset makers have managed to constantly improve battery life for smartphones, although battery life will hopefully be significantly further improved in future smartphone generations. Until then, mobile device users who own more than one device that needs charging will still have to recharge their batteries on a very frequent basis, and often at the same time.
