Fleksy, a popular Android keyboard app that’s going to also be available on iOS 8 devices this year, on Wednesday released a new update in the Google Play Store that brings various new features including a major redesign, premium themes and emoji, and 17 new languages that had only been available in the beta.

There was a great deal of interest surrounding Apple’s iBeacons when they launched alongside iOS 7 late last year, but as they are still in the initial stages of deployment, we haven’t seen much data regarding their effectiveness. Advertisers claimed that the potential for iBeacons as a new platform was vast, and now we’re finally beginning to see the results. 9to5Mac shares a report from InMarket, a company currently installing iBeacons in grocery stores, which illustrates the point of the advertisers perfectly.

Following the solid quarter Verizon posted on Tuesday, AT&T on Wednesday reported its results for the second quarter. Wall Street was expecting a slight on-year decline in EPS, with consensus earnings of $0.65 seen on revenue totaling $33.22 billion, an improvement over the $32.1 billion in sales it posted in the June quarter last year. The numbers are now in, and AT&T beat expectations, having reported earnings of $0.68 per share on revenue of $32.6 billion.

No one was overwhelming impressive by Amazon’s lackluster streaming music offering, Prime Music, when it launched out of nowhere early last month, but the company isn’t giving up on it yet. Amazon announced on Wednesday that Prime Music has added hundreds of thousands of new tracks to the service along with hundreds of new professionally curated Prime Playlists.

Canvas fingerprinting is a completely new way of tracking users online for advertising purposes, and reports detailing it claim it’s rather difficult to bypass. Even Adblock Plus users can’t escape canvas fingerprinting, but the company explained on its blog there is a way to deal with it, and with cookies for that matter, using its browser plugin.

Apple will release the public OS X Yosemite beta on Thursday, with 9to5Mac reporting that the final version will be released as a free download via the Mac App Store at some point in late October, possibly alongside new Macs that will come with high-resolution displays.

Flying is amazing. You can start your day in Russia, and finish it in Reno. You can travel in relative comfort at over 500 miles per hour. Of course, the operative word here is relative. Few things are sweeter than figuring out a way to cruise in business class as you cross an ocean or two, but if I’m honest, it’s pretty impractical for the vast majority of humans. So, do you squeeze yourself into an impossibly tight seat for 13 hours to get from Atlanta to Seoul, or do you stay home and spend the day clicking through Google Images?

I’ve endured my fair share of excruciatingly long flights in economy class, and there’s really no redeeming quality to the experience. The only benefit is that you arrive somewhere different. In fact, a quick Google search for “how to survive long flights” yields page upon page of tips from here, there, and yonder. I suppose I’m adding yet another to the pile.

Unlike Apple, which thinks merging iOS and OS X would be a “waste of energy,” Microsoft wants one single Windows operating system to be available to all its device users, whether they’re Windows Phone handset owners, Xbox fans, or rely on a Windows computer for work or play. Business Insider reports that CEO Satya Nadella said on the company’s FQ4 earnings conference call that a future version of Windows will merge all current Windows versions, becoming an “operating system that covers all screen sizes.”

When Amazon first announced the price increase from $79 to $99 for Prime memberships, everyone was up in arms. Looking back at the reaction of Amazon customers following the announcement, you might have thought we’d be in the middle of a worldwide boycott of Amazon Prime about now, but it appears that the fallout was much less eventful than many had predicted. On Wednesday, CIRP released a report which shows that even after the price increase, 95% of U.S. Prime members still indicate that they will either “probably” or “definitely” renew their membership when it runs out.
