A lot of people who now use iPhones and Android phones once used BlackBerry devices many years ago, and now BlackBerry says that its new square BlackBerry Passport is bringing some of them back into the fold. In a new post highlighting consumer response to its newest smartphone, BlackBerry picks up on several comments left on different websites of people who say that they can’t wait to dump their current smartphones for the BlackBerry Passport.

Google has a brand new Google Now feature related to reminders that will let users easily create new reminders by simply searching inside Google for “add reminder,” or “create reminder” followed by a name, date or place, Google Operating System revealed. The new feature will also support more advanced commands such as “add reminder to buy milk tomorrow” or “create reminder to buy sandwich when I am in Chicago.”

When Telltale Games was presented with the monumental task of following up The Walking Dead, the writers took it in stride. Rather than breaking too far from the formula, Telltale innovated just enough with The Wolf Among Us to bring us something that feels both familiar and entirely fresh. Having finished the first season, I can say with some confidence that I won’t be missing any future installments.

Apple on Monday released iOS 8 beta 4, just as our sources said would be the case. The new build is Apple’s fourth developer preview release of its new iOS 8 software, which will be let loose to the general public sometime in the coming months, likely just before the next-generation iPhone 6 launches. In the meantime, developers can use Apple’s iOS 8 betas to update their apps and build new ones that take advantage of all the new APIs Apple has provided. For the rest of us, iOS 8 gives us a look at all the great new things to come.

You know that 15Mbps, 30Mbps or 50Mbps Internet service you pay your cable TV provider way too much for each month? That lightning fast figure likely only refers to your peak download speeds, and your upload speeds are probably much slower. For example, the 30Mbps Internet service I pay Time Warner Cable more than $60 for each month only provides upload speeds of up to 5Mbps. This is likely fine for some users, but many people need faster upload speeds to avoid getting bogged down. If you happen to run Android L, or a port based on it, on your device and you’re wondering whether Google will release an update to fix any of the potential issues discovered with the Developer Preview ROM, you should know there’s a slim chance that will happen. German publication Smartdroid.de picked up a Google+ discussion in which Googler Rich Hyndman, who shared more details about Android L in a video published recently on YouTube, revealed that updates aren’t exactly in the picture for Android L.

Apple has been releasing new updates steadily since the first developer build of iOS 8 was let loose on June 2nd, and iOS 8 beta 4 couldn’t come soon enough considering how buggy beta 3 has been. Now, the latest and greatest iOS 8 build for developers — and anyone else who pays Apple $99 each year for a developer account — is available for download, just as our inside sources said it would be.
