This year, Google’s first big announcement is Android “L.” Google says Android L will have 5,000 new APIs and a fresh new design that will carry Android across not just phones and tablets, but many other device categories as well.

It’s always smart to expect the unexpected with Google, but a new report from Seth Weintraub at 9to5Google is the most unexpected Google I/O rumor we’ve ever heard. One of Weintraub’s sources, who apparently tipped him off to Google’s Glass skydiving stunt two years ago, says that there’s a chance that Google will take the wraps off of “some cutting-edge micro bots that can detect things like certain kinds of cancer” at I/O this year, although the source cautions that these nanobots are at least two years away from being ready to launch onto the market.

We have seen several videos of mockups said to accurately represent Apple’s 5.5-inch iPhone 6 model, but we’ve never seen one quite like this. A number of reports from top news agencies state that Apple is working on not one but two new iPhone models that will debut in 2014. The flagship iPhone 6 is believed to feature a brand new design and a 4.7-inch display, and then an even bigger iPhone phablet is expected to debut with a similar design and a 5.5-inch screen.

Now, a model believed to be a close replica of the larger 5.5-inch iPhone phablet has been compared to the iPhone 5s along with several Android phablets in a new ultra high-definition video.

Aereo as we know it has effectively been put out of business. The United States Supreme Court on Wednesday sided with broadcasters who were suing Aereo for taking over-the-air broadcast signals and delivering them to your smartphone, tablet or laptop over your Internet connection. As SCOTUSblog informs us, the court’s 6-3 ruling “appears sweeping and definitive, determining that Aereo is illegal.” If Aereo wants to keep delivering broadcast networks’ shows to your Internet-connected devices, it will need to pay licensing fees to broadcasters.
