There hasn’t exactly been a shortage of Moto X+1 leaks since the name was revealed earlier this year, but now we’ve finally been given a chance to see the phone in action. TK Tech News, the same source that leaked photos of the Moto X+1 last week, published a video on Thursday showcasing the boot animation of the upcoming Motorola flagship. In order to hide any identifying marks, the phone has been wrapped twice over in plastic wrap, resulting in an obscured look at the phone.

After recent changes in Android Open Source Platform code recently revealed that Google’s next major Android update will replace the Dalvik runtime with ART, xda-developers has discovered new information about the next version of Android that might be announced at Google I/O this week. According to recent merges in the AOSP master branch, the latest version of Android will come with 64-bit support.

The biggest two items on Apple’s fall release schedule are going to be the iPhone 6 and the yet-to-be-seen iWatch, but we shouldn’t forget that the company’s popular tablets are due to get new models as well. MacRumors directs our attention to a new picture published at Taiwanese website Apple.club.tw that shows a mockup of the iPhone 6 sitting on top of what appears to be the next-generation iPad mini and the next-generation iPad Air. MacRumors notes that we really can’t tell very much about the new iPad mini from the leaked picture although it does seemingly show that Apple’s newest mini tablet will indeed have the Touch ID fingerprint scanning system that was first unveiled with the iPhone 5s.

GoPro cameras have recorded many videos showing amazing, intriguing and terrifying events around the people wearing them, and the company has published a new video on its YouTube channel that might be the most viscerally frightening yet. While trying to document one driver’s attempt at of beating the world record for the longest ramp car jump using only its cameras, GoPro managed to capture the extremely scary experience of a high-speed car crash.

Late last week, we covered a new feature that had been discovered in Apple Maps on iOS 8 — flyover city tours. It was previously thought that the feature could only be accessed through a series of debug menus, but 9to5Mac reader Stefan Kujit found that the flyover tours are actually accessible to anyone with iOS 8… just as long as you’re prepared to do a little bit of digging.

Apple is expected to unveil two iPhone 6 versions later this year, including a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model to finally compete against Android device makers that have been selling oversized smartphones and phablets for years. The next generation of wearable tech is nearly upon us. CNET reports that Samsung is preparing to unveil an Android Wear smartwatch at Google I/O this week, a device similar to the Gear smartwatches we’ve been introduced to over the past year. According to CNET’s sources, Samsung has been working on two Android Wear models, one using its own chips and one built with Qualcomm processors.

Apple is expected to release two bigger iPhone versions this fall, with Foxconn and Pegatron said to handle the massive iPhone 6 production orders. Apparently both companies are scrambling to meet massive demand, with the Economic News Daily reporting that Foxconn and Pegatron are both on hiring sprees at the moment, in anticipation of the new iPhone launch.
