Earlier this year, BlackBerry announced plans to release a new messaging service called BBM Protected that the company billed as an even more secure version of its popular messaging app. CrackBerry draws our attention to a new set of videos that it’s posted on YouTube showing a live demonstration of BBM Protected that gives us an idea of how it will deliver even better security than standard BBM. One of the ways that BBM Protected will keep your messages more secure is by encrypting every individual message you send and receive with a random key, which means that even if one of your messages gets compromised somehow, the hacker still won’t be able to access all of them because they’ll have different keys. The excitement surrounding the impending release of Watch Dogs was slightly tempered earlier in the week when Ubisoft announced that the PS4 version of the game would run at 900p and the Xbox One version would run at 792p. Early adopters have felt slighted as many new generation releases have failed to reach the pinnacle of 1080p resolution and 60fps, but the disparity between the consoles has been an even larger point of contention. Thankfully, CinemaBlend has cobbled together a few screenshots to compare the game’s visuals on the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One so we can begin to put the argument to rest once and for all.

You’ve seen the advertisements, and you’ve seen them for years. New smartphones for nothing beyond a signature, with the latest and greatest running just $199.

It’s all a complete fabrication.

In a bid to lock customers into long-term contracts, America’s preeminent wireless carriers have had a history of subsidizing the phones that the masses want. What happens is a masking of the true price of a phone.

If you asked most folks what a new iPhone would set you back, you’d probably hear “around $200.” What you wouldn’t hear is the rest of that sentence: “…by committing to pay a wireless carrier hundreds or thousands of dollars over the next 24 months.”
