We’re really getting leaks from every source you can imagine about the iPhone 6 at this point. Italian blog Macitynet.it, which earlier this week posted leaked pictures of an iPhone 6 mockup purportedly used by accessory manufacturers, is back with a new pictures showing us the iPhone 6 mockup side-by-side with Samsung’s Galaxy S5. These new pictures are particularly useful because they give us a real idea of just how big the new device will be in comparison with its biggest competitor.

One of the downsides of owning an Android phone is that it can take you forever to get the latest software updates since each Android OEM has to work separately with different carriers before it can push out new updates. That said, some OEMs do a much better job of this than others and Computerworld has taken the time to track their performance and grade them.

Apple may not be making big splashy moves such as Google’s Nest acquisition or Facebook’s purchase of WhatsApp, but it won’t hesitate to buy up smaller companies that it thinks can add real value to its products. Unnamed sources tell TechCrunch that Apple has just bought LuxVue Technology, a company that develops power-efficient micro-LED display technology. Other than this, though, not much is known about what the company has been up to — TechCrunch notes that it at one point raised $43 million in venture funding but has otherwise “managed to remain fairly quiet over the past few years.” That said, it seems pretty likely that Apple wants to incorporate LuxVue’s energy efficient display technology into its iPhones and iPads since improving battery life has become one of the biggest sources of competition among mobile device manufacturers in recent years. Apple has confirmed that it bought the company with TechCrunch, although as usual it didn’t provide any further details about the acquisition.

HTC’s new flagship HTC One (M8) is the best Android phone in the world for a number of reasons. The design is gorgeous, the build is impeccable and the software is refined and modern. The killer sound is an added benefit thanks to HTC’s front-facing “BoomSound” setup, but Sprint subscribers have access to an even better version of the M8 that includes Harman Kardon audio tuning. Thanks to some handwork over on the XDA Developers forum, however, any HTC One (M8) owner can now enjoy the added benefits of the Harman Kardon limited edition version.

Motorola is rumored to be prepping the Moto X+1 handset for launch later this year, a Moto X successor that will also allow users to customize the device, and the company has confirmed the new phone’s name on its MotoMaker website. A “Moto X+1 Details” button has appeared on Motorola‘s website, and it will supposedly point to a special page dedicated to Motorola’s upcoming new flagship. Unfortunately, the button doesn’t lead anywhere because the company has yet to publish the official Moto X+1 product page.

When it comes to the tablet market, Sony seems to be stuck in neutral. We previewed the Xperia Tablet Z over a year ago to find that Sony hadn’t yet found an angle for its lineup, resulting in an unremarkable device priced far above its more enticing competition. A year later, Sony is making a bold bet with the Xperia Z2 Tablet — it bet that it can go head to head with Apple’s market-leading iPad Air.

Even though Apple CEO Tim Cook promised to release multiple products throughout 2014, so far it looks as though Apple is once again pushing all the exciting stuff into the fall. Unnamed sources tell Re/code that Apple won’t unveil either its first wearable computer or its refreshed version of Apple TV at WWDC 2014 this year. While we really weren’t expecting the iWatch to launch until the fall when Apple released the iPhone 6, there had been some hope that Apple would at least take the wraps off its new version of Apple TV before the fall after earlier reports indicated that Apple would unveil the new set-top box in the spring.

Many consumer electronics buyers in the U.S. end up purchasing counterfeit goods, a study commissioned by Canon reveals, with almost one in five buyers having paid for such devices in 2013 without knowing they were fakes. Furthermore, of those people who unknowingly purchased fake gadgets, more than half thought that they were actually able to spot counterfeit electronics.

Like it or not, Windows XP is no longer a smart option for personal computing. Microsoft went against its word and issued one last security update for the aging platform on Thursday, but new security holes that pop up will go unfixed and your personal data is at risk as a result.
