When it comes to Apple and its upcoming new iPhone models, the first details always come from plugged-in Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kui, who now works for TF International Securities. He has multiple contacts deep in Apple’s supply chain, and the information he gets from them is almost always accurate. Then, a few months later, schematics for the unreleased iPhone models are stolen off of Foxconn’s servers in China. Third-party accessory makers use these files to build protective cases that are ready in time for release, and graphic designers use them to mock up accurate renders of upcoming iPhone models. After bringing OLED screens to the iPhone line, Apple has been rumored to do the same thing with select MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models in the future. A few reports earlier this year said that Apple is developing a 16-inch MacBook Pro design that might be introduced in a couple of years. An insider accurate with his previous Apple prediction also said at the time that Apple was working on new iPad models as well, hardly a surprising revelation considering that Apple launches new tablets every year. A new report from Korea now says that Samsung has been in talks with Apple about supplying OLED screens for both these products.

The ban doesn’t only hurt Huawei, as it also impacts the bottom line of the companies who were forced to pause their dealings with Huawei, pending a new decision from the US government. It’s unclear how long the entire thing will last, but Trump just gave a bizarre statement on the matter.

Months ago, a bizarre hum rippled through the waters far off the coast of Africa, traveling around the world and drawing the attention of scientists who managed to capture it using seismic sensors. Its origins were a mystery, but the discovery of a new undersea volcano near the French island of Mayotte may finally provide the answer.

As LiveScience reports, researchers from France recently discovered the brand new feature of the ocean floor near Mayotte, and it’s absolutely massive. The volcano, which now stretches some 800 meters off the seafloor, didn’t even exist six months prior, and reports from island residents paint a clear picture of when it was created.

NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope may be dead, but that doesn’t mean that the wealth of data it gathered doesn’t still hold some untold surprises. A new research paper from scientists at the Max Planck Institute, Georg August University, and the Sonneberg Observatory is a great reminder of that, and it reveals the existence of 18 (!) completely new exoplanets that were previously unknown to astronomers.

The discovery was made after a careful analysis of Kepler data using a new method of approach that is more sensitive and could, its creators believe, uncover dozens or even over a hundred totally new worlds orbiting distant stars.

It’s sometimes hard to make sense of what’s going on with Tesla. Is the company on the verge of going bankrupt, or poised to set new records for deliveries? Well, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the answer to both questions could be “yes.”

A few days ago, an internal email from Musk to Tesla employees claimed that the company was in danger of running out of cash in just 10 months time. As a result, Musk said that the company was going to implement “hardcore” cost-cutting measures, an initiative Musk claims is the only way for the company “to become financially sustainable and succeed in our goal of helping make the world environmentally sustainable.”
