Google is finally ready to talk openly about the mysterious new OS that might replace Android

%name Google is finally ready to talk openly about the mysterious new OS that might replace Android by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’ve been talking for a few years about Google’s mysterious operating system meant to replace Android, Chrome, and whatever Android-derived operating systems Google has running on its smart devices. We’ve seen the first demos leak, we read reports about is development, and we saw Google start deploying the software development kit that will allow developers to code universal apps that will run on Android, iOS, computer operating system, and — of course — Fuchsia.

Fuchsia is what we’ve been told we should call this mysterious operating system that will not only run on everything made by Google, but it’ll also fix some of the worst things about Android, including fragmentation, update speed, and privacy. But Google is finally talking about Fuchsia, the Android slayer that was promised — and they call it Fuchsia too.

Samsung insider says Galaxy Note 10 won’t get an exciting camera upgrade

%name Samsung insider says Galaxy Note 10 won’t get an exciting camera upgrade by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung still has to deal with the fallout of its biggest flop since the Galaxy Note 7, though the Galaxy Fold disaster isn’t as big in scope. The company is also working on a bunch of new products. The next big thing is, of course, the Galaxy Note 10 that should be unveiled in less than three months, a phone that’s been detailed in several reports so far. The phone is expected to look a lot like the Galaxy S10 series when it comes to design, although it’ll still pack the Note’s remaining signature feature, the inclusion of the S Pen stylus. Recent rumors claimed that Samsung will make two distinct Note 10 version, and each one will also ship in a 5G variety. On top of that, the phone is expected to feature an improved display design, according to a leaker, as well as support for faster battery charging than ever before. However, the same leaker now claims that an exciting camera upgrade coming from Samsung’s image sensor department won’t hit the Galaxy Note 10 series.

Michigan man busted for selling over $1 million worth of illegal kratom across the U.S.

Who says crime doesn’t pay? For 36-year-old Matthew Dailey of Royal Oak, Michigan, crime most certainly did pay, and for quite a while. That ended this week when he was forced to forfeit $1,000,000 of the proceeds he had collected from selling kratom across the United States.

Dailey, who reportedly deceived the FDA and other authorities long enough to import several tons of the illegal plant-based substance to his Michigan home where he repackaged and sold it as a cure for everything from chronic pain to Lyme disease. His products, which were sold online to buyers across the country, made him a millionaire in short order.

Spotty Wi-Fi that also costs too much is often among the more frequent complaints of an airline’s customers, which is why you’re starting to see air carriers experiment a bit with how they make the amenity available. JetBlue may be the only US airline that currently lets flyers enjoy free Wi-Fi, but Delta is about to follow suit with an experiment that starts next week in which the Atlanta-based airline will offer free Wi-Fi on 55 domestic flights.

‘Detective Pikachu’ full movie leak is an insanely clever marketing stunt

%name ‘Detective Pikachu’ full movie leak is an insanely clever marketing stunt by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Avengers: Endgame has been hogging the spotlight for weeks now, but if any movie has the chance to snag at least a bit of attention for itself, it’s Detective Pikachu. Starring Ryan Reynolds as a Pikachu that inexplicably speaks English (and also sounds exactly like Ryan Reynolds), this movie — which initially sounded like it would be an unmitigated disaster — managed to surprise and delight viewers with a few stellar trailers.

Early reviews have been promising, but if the movie is a hit, the marketing team (and Reynolds himself) deserve a lot of the credit. In case you haven’t been keeping up, Reynolds has been posting incredible Detective Pikachu-themed videos on YouTube for the past few months, highlighted by a ridiculous behind-the-scenes mini-documentary about the lengths the actors went to in order to “become Pikachu.”

But that all pales in comparison to the latest and greatest marketing stunt of all.

The obesity crisis is growing faster in rural areas than in major cities

%name The obesity crisis is growing faster in rural areas than in major cities by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You don’t need to look far to find some seriously troubling data regarding obesity in the United States and abroad. Waistlines are growing, and with them comes increased risks of a myriad of diseases. You could point fingers at a number of possible causes — the prevalence of fast food, inadequate nutrition education in our schools, etc — but to curb the trend it’s beneficial to know who, exactly, is getting bigger.

A new study led by Imperial College London crunched a huge amount of data to help paint a picture of where increasingly overweight people tend to reside, and the conclusions are actually incredibly interesting.

Good luck hiding from this new Chinese camera that can spot you from 28 miles away

%name Good luck hiding from this new Chinese camera that can spot you from 28 miles away by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A team of Chinese researchers has just announced their creation of an inexpensive but powerful camera that’s the size of a shoebox and which seems destined to further chip away at privacy and individual anonymity — what’s left of them, at any rate.

The camera is meant for surveillance and target recognition and is reportedly capable of spotting someone — really, anything — from up to 28 miles away, even in conditions that would otherwise obscure sight, like smog. And it’s able to do so based on laser technology and a reliance on artificial intelligence.

Original iPod hits eBay at insane $20,000 list price

When Apple unveiled the original iPod back in 2001, the reactions weren’t universally positive. Indeed, some fan reactions on a MacRumors message board at the time have since taken on a life of their own.

As an illustrative example, one outraged Apple fan wrote the following nearly 18 years ago: “I still can’t believe this! All this hype for something so ridiculous! Who cares about an MP3 player? I want something new! I want them to think differently! Why oh why would they do this?! It’s so wrong! It’s so stupid!”
