The Best Oven Mitts

%name The Best Oven Mitts by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Of all the essential kitchen tools out there, over mitts are likely the most often neglected. People tend to buy cheap mitts at a local store and then continue to use them long after they start falling apart. Rather than continuing to use the same stained, tattered old mitts that you’ve been suffering with for years, perhaps it’s time for an upgrade. Not all over mitts are created equal though, which is why we put all the top options to the test in order to pick out the best of the bunch.

Best cloth mitts

Cloth oven mitts have come a long way in recent years. In fact, many high-quality cloth mitts offer the same amount of heat protection as silicone mitts. High-quality doesn’t have to mean high prices though, and there is no better evidence of that than the Bestjoy Flame Retardant Oven Mitts. These sleek mitts have a diamond stitch pattern and are heat resistant to 425°, making them ideal for home use. Cook with these oven mitts just one time and you’ll wonder why you waited so long to replace your ratty old mitts.

Best silicone mitts

Silicone oven mitts are all the rage right now, due in part to the fact that people seem to think that silicone inherently offers better heat protection. While that isn’t necessarily true, silicone mitts do offer another big benefit over cloth: they’re much easier to clean. Anyone in search of a fantastic pair of silicone mitts should pick up the Homwe Extra Long Professional Silicone Oven Mitts. They feature a fantastic design, great grip, quilted cloth lining for comfort, and a wonderfully affordable price tag.

Best glove-style mitts

While traditional oven mitts are certainly the most common type of heat protection in the kitchen, they’re not the only option. People looking for heat protection that can stay on your hands and even protect you while you prep should check out the Semboh Extreme Heat Resistant Oven Mitt Gloves. In addition to providing heat resistance up to 1,472° and anti-slip silicone studs on the interior side, they also protect your fingers from accidental knife cuts.

The 5G networks are finally here, but they’re more exciting on paper than in real life. That’s because carriers are still rolling out 5G support on a market-by-market basis. Initial data speeds won’t nearly be as impressive as they are on paper, but they’re still much faster than 4G, though you might experience connectivity issues.

That said, 5G adoption has to start somewhere, and Europe is about to get is own taste of 5G. Korean and US carriers turned on their 5G networks in the past few weeks, and now Europe is about to get its first 5G phone, but it’s not the device you might suspect Europeans would be getting.

Spotify thinks we want to talk to its ads

%name Spotify thinks we want to talk to its ads by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Voice technology is all the rage nowadays, as the Amazon Echo and Google Home continue to fly off store shelves at a record pace. Spotify has taken notice, and on Thursday, voice-enabled advertisements hit the music service. Users will be encouraged to verbally respond to the ads, which will then redirect them to the content being advertised. For now, that only includes content that can be found within the Spotify app.

According to TechCrunch, the first of the two ads being tested is for a Spotify Original podcast called Stay Free: The Story of The Clash, which is an eight-part series charting the rise and fall of the British rock band. The second, set to enter the rotation later this month, will promote a branded playlist from Unilever.

No, you shouldn’t wash your raw chicken before you cook it

%name No, you shouldn’t wash your raw chicken before you cook it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are lots of rules out there when it comes to cooking meat, and, of all the common meats you might find yourself cooking, chicken seems to have the most strict rules of all. It’s understandable, since pathogens that can live in raw meat are nasty, and the ones known to favor raw chicken can be particularly fearsome.

Apparently that heightened concern regarding chicken has led some consumers to believe that raw chicken needs to be washed before it’s cooked. Exactly what this process is supposed to accomplish (you aren’t killing any bacteria or other pathogens by running water over raw meat of any kind) is unclear, but the debate has reached a point that the Centers for Disease Control has felt the need to weigh in. Their verdict? Don’t wash your chicken.

This incredible zoom-out reminds us just how powerful Hubble really is

%name This incredible zoom out reminds us just how powerful Hubble really is by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Hubble Space Telescope is one of those things that seems like it’s always been around. Its mission, which just recently passed the 29 year mark, has provided mankind with some of the most stunning glimpses of the cosmos ever, and while it’s getting up there in terms of age it’s still performing at an incredibly high level.

Hubble can peer deep into space thanks to its powerful lenses but when NASA reveals images of far-off galaxies and other features it’s difficult to put its power into perspective. With that in mind, astronomers have produced that they’re calling the Hubble Legacy Field, which is a combination of images that does an outstanding job of showing us just how much detail the cherished telescope is capable of detecting.

%name This $29 device fixes the worst thing about Apple’s latest laptops by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple’s newest MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro laptops are so sleek and powerful. In fact, it’s pretty crazy that Apple was able to pack all that oomph into a notebook computers that are so remarkably thin. In order to get the laptops so thin, Apple apparently had to remove all of the ports other than USB-C ports… but it’s really annoying when it comes time to connect just about anything to your laptop. The Mokin 5 in 1 USB-C Adapter Hub takes care of the issue by adding a 4K HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and a microSD card reader to your laptop.
