When it comes to connected radar detectors with smart features like crowd-sourced alerts, GPS false alarm memory and a global data base, the Escort MAX360 is the model that comes to most people’s minds. We’ve spent the past week testing the Cobra Road Scout Dash Cam and Radar Detector in place of the Escort model we normally use, and we are thoroughly impressed. The range is easily just as good as the MAX360, the features and app control are terrific, and having a built-in dash cam that records in Full HD is brilliant. The dash cam add-on for the MAX360 is another $200 on top of the $550 you already spent on the radar detector itself. Meanwhile, the Cobra Road Scout is only $449.95 on Amazon — that’s $300 less than the combo from Escort!

Of note, if you don’t need a radar detector and you just want a high-quality dash camera, the Cobra Drive Dash Cam Dash2208 and the Cobra Drive HD Dash Cam DASH2216D are both terrific options.
