  • A new iPhone 12 leak shows the phone’s purported design, including changes to the notch, the rear camera, and the home screen.
  • The iPhone 12 Pro is expected to feature a LiDAR sensor on the back in addition to three regular cameras.
  • The iPhone home screen will see the most significant design change in years, with iOS 14 supposed to support home screen widgets for the first time.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The coronavirus pandemic might hurt the launch schedule of various products this year, iPhone 12 included. The new flagship series should be unveiled in mid-September, but some fear that Apple won’t be able to ship on schedule. It’s not necessarily manufacturing issues that could affect the iPhone 12 launch, as Chinese suppliers are back to work. Travel restrictions that are in place in the US and various countries might hinder the iPhone 12 development, some reports said. Even so, there’s no shortage of iPhone 12 rumors. A couple of leaks on Monday revealed a few specs and design details for the iPhone 12 series, which will include four distinct iPhone models. A new leak now shows the full design of the handset, teasing a feature the iPhone never had.

NASA’s Perseverance rover got some sweet new wheels

  • NASA’s Perseverance rover got some gorgeous new wheels.
  • The wheels are different from those of the Curiosity rover, and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robot can traverse the Martian landscape with ease.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The world might be in the midst of a health crisis at the moment but that isn’t stopping NASA from pushing full speed ahead with its Mars 2020 plans. In the latest example of the space agency’s drive to make the mission happen even in the face of incredible adversity, NASA showed off new images of the rover’s newly-installed wheels, and boy do they look lovely.

The wheels were installed at Kennedy Space Center, and they’re just the latest components in the incredibly long assembly process. The rover is essentially “done,” in that its various pieces are ready to go, but putting it all together and preparing it to be shot into space is a time-consuming process.

PS5 and Xbox Series X games will likely be ported to the Switch

%name PS5 and Xbox Series X games will likely be ported to the Switch by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Nintendo has made sure that some of the biggest PS4 and Xbox One multiplatform titles have eventually been ported to the Switch, even if compromises have to be made.
  • The studio behind Switch ports for L.A. Noire, Dark Souls, and The Outer Worlds says that it is ready to bring PS5 and Xbox Series X games to the Switch as well.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Nintendo has been charting its own course for decades, and though it hasn’t always worked (see: Wii U), the Switch is the latest proof that when it does work, it works incredibly well. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a certified smash hit, the console is selling out everywhere amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and there are rumors that Nintendo is gearing up to launch remastered versions of its most popular 3D Mario games. It’s certainly an exciting time to be a Switch owner… but what’s going to happen when the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch?

One of the more impressive qualities of the Switch (especially when compared to the Wii U) is how well-represented third-party studios are on the hybrid console. Some of the biggest games of this generation and last have made their way to the Switch, including The Witcher 3, Doom, Skyrim, and Borderlands. There are trade-offs, and they don’t run as smoothly or look quite as good as their PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, but they give Switch owners a chance to experience multiplatform games. The question now is whether or not the studios that port the games over will still be able to do so when the games are being developed for next-generation hardware.

Someone paid $5.6 million for an actual rocket in China

%name Someone paid $5.6 million for an actual rocket in China by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • An unidentified bidder spent $5.6 to buy an actual rocket and launch services on the Chinese auction site Taobao.
  • The auction includes the rocket, launch services, access to the launch site, and even a custom paint job on the rocket itself.
  • The identity of the winning bidder has not yet been revealed.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

SpaceX might be the biggest name in commercial spaceflight these days but it’s far from the only game in town. There are dozens of other companies crafting rockets of their own, and for a variety of purposes. In China on April 1st, one of those rockets was sold to an anonymous bidder. The price? A cool 40 million yuan, which is roughly $5.6 million.

The auction, which raised plenty of eyebrows as it was held on April Fools’ Day, is apparently totally legit. The winning bidder not only gets the rocket, but launch services, access to the launch site, and a custom paint job on the rocket itself. Not a bad way to spend $5.6 million, huh?

13-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED display may arrive next month

%name 13 inch MacBook Pro with mini LED display may arrive next month by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple may replace its 13-inch MacBook Pro with a 14.1-inch model later this month.
  • The new MacBook Pro may incorporate mini-LED technology which allows for thinner displays and improved display quality.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

A new leak from Jon Prosser — who has been accurate with respect to Apple rumors in the past — claims that Apple may release a refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro next month. Incidentally, Prosser adds that a display upgrade from 13 to 14-inches is a “big possibility.”

Lending credence to Prosser’s prediction is that Ming-Chi Kuo — who has a stellar record when it comes to Apple rumors — issued an investor note last month claiming that Apple will replace its 13-inch MacBook Pro with a 14.1-inch model. What’s more, Kuo said that the 14.1-inch model will boast a mini-LED display.

A list of everyone who won’t get a coronavirus stimulus check

%name A list of everyone who won’t get a coronavirus stimulus check by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • One of the key elements of the first US coronavirus relief bill was sending $1,200 to every American.
  • Unfortunately, not every American qualifies for the payment, leaving them with no assistance whatsoever.
  • Americans affected include college-aged dependents, seniors living with family members, babies born in 2020, and anyone who made $98,000 or more last year, even if they’ve since been laid off.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

At this point, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who hasn’t been affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic. The entire planet has screeched to a halt as countries attempt to mitigate the spread of a highly contagious and incredibly deadly virus, but doing so has, unsurprisingly, put the global economy in a tailspin.

The US took ages drafting and passing legislation to assist individuals and families that have been affected, but now that the Families First Coronavirus Response Act has been signed into law by President Trump, millions of Americans are anxiously awaiting the delivery of their coronavirus stimulus payment — $1,200 or more for most people — but as NBC News details in a very informative article, not everyone is going to get a check.

Marvel’s first Phase 4 shows on Disney+ might still launch in 2020

%name Marvel’s first Phase 4 shows on Disney+ might still launch in 2020 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Disney just announced the new schedule for its MCU Phase 4 films, with Black Widow set to premiere on November 6th instead of The Eternals.
  • Phase 4 also features eight series that will premiere on Disney+ and tie directly into the six films.
  • Disney hasn’t announced any updated plans for the Marvel TV series, but the French version of Disney+ already lists tentative launch windows for them.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The novel coronavirus pandemic has had a significant impact on the economy, pausing all activities that include large gatherings of people — well, most of them, because some people just don’t seem to get it. Staying at home has its bittersweet perks. You might have to go to school or work from home, which isn’t necessarily easy, but at least you have the internet, which can provide plenty of entertainment. For a while, that’s the only type of entertainment you’re going to have access to, as cinemas and stadiums aren’t going to open anytime soon.

A variety of blockbuster movies and sporting events were postponed in the past few weeks, with Disney having just announced a major delay for its MCU Phase 4 films. Black Widow should have premiered on May 1st, but it now has a November 6th launch date, and that’s assuming winter doesn’t bring a new viral outbreak with it. What Disney did with its upcoming Marvel movies was to postpone each of them by a few months. Black Widow took The Eternals’ slot, and The Eternals moved to mid-February in place of Shang-Chi. But while it’s easy to reassign those release dates to all of the Phase 4 and Phase 5 films that have been announced, Disney has yet to reveal new launch dates for Marvel’s Disney+ shows.

Official coronavirus death toll is likely far lower than the reality

%name Official coronavirus death toll is likely far lower than the reality by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The coronavirus is continuing its rampage across the US, resulting in yet another day of growth in the number of confirmed cases of the virus.
  • The number of confirmed cases, as of Monday afternoon, is now up to more than 356,000, according to the latest numbers from Johns Hopkins University.
  • The US has also seen more than 10,500 confirmed deaths from the coronavirus to-date. However, officials say the official death toll doesn’t include everyone who died from COVID-19.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

As bad as the novel coronavirus outbreak that’s rampaging across the world right now appears — and preparing to plunge the US into its most deadly week yet, as the number of confirmed cases and deaths is expected to start peaking in the coming days — we probably don’t even know how bad it really is.

Health experts and public officials now caution that as grim as the virus’ official death toll has gotten — and it’s gotten pretty grim indeed with more than 10,500 reported deaths in the US as of Monday — it’s all but certain that those numbers don’t account for everyone who succumbs to the coronavirus. For example, the only time the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention attributes a death to the virus is when the virus’ presence has been confirmed via a lab test. This is why CDC spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund has said, when speaking about the current death toll in the US: “We know that it is an underestimation.”

U.S. Surgeon General shows how to make a homemade coronavirus mask

%name U.S. Surgeon General shows how to make a homemade coronavirus mask by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The CDC is now recommending that individuals who go outside wear either a mask or cloth covering over their mouths to help prevent the coronavirus from spreading even further.
  • While lockdown measures in some U.S. cities have helped flatten the curve, other cities may not experience a peak number of corona-related deaths for a few more weeks.
  • States that still have a high risk of the coronavirus spreading include Florida, Michigan, and Alabama.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The sad and harsh reality is that the coronavirus still hasn’t reached its peak in many major U.S. cities. While some areas will reportedly experience a peak number of hospitalizations and deaths over the next few days, the virus in some cities will continue to spread and get worse over the coming few weeks.

As part of a broader effort to help prevent the virus from spreading further, new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that individuals wear a mask or cloth covering if they have no choice but to venture outside for groceries or other errands.

Coronavirus officials now say to avoid grocery stores if you can

%name Coronavirus officials now say to avoid grocery stores if you can by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The number of coronavirus cases is expected to spike so dramatically this week across the US that public officials and health experts are now warning people to even stay away from grocery stores and pharmacies, some of the last businesses that remain open during the pandemic, if at all possible.
  • According to the latest numbers from Johns Hopkins University, there have been more than 347,000 confirmed cases in the US, as well as more than 10,000 deaths.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

We’re now at such a critical stage of the coronavirus outbreak in the US that public officials are now begging everyone to even avoid grocery stores and pharmacies, as essential as they are, as the country prepares for an ominous surge in new cases as well as deaths from the virus.

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” White House coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx told reporters Saturday at a press conference. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.” And then today, Brett Giroir — Assistant Secretary for Health at the US Department of Health and Human Services — made the same recommendation on NBC’s “Today” show.
