AirPods Pro and discounted AirPods 2 are back on Amazon one last time

  • Apple’s AirPods Pro true wireless noise cancelling headphones and its AirPods 2 cord-free Bluetooth earbuds are believed to be the most popular headphones in the world right now.
  • All three versions of Apple’s AirPods happen to be in stock right now on the site, and they’re also among the only “nonessential” products that are still shipping out immediately.
  • To make matters even better, both versions of the AirPods 2 are on sale right now and the best model is back down to its all-time lowest price from ahead of the holidays last year.

As the novel coronavirus continues to spread around the world and in the United States specifically, many of us are in store for some big changes to our normal way of life. If you live near a population center that’s even the slightest bit dense, you’re almost certainly going to experience a shutdown for some period of time. Many states across the country have already forced the closure of all nonessential businesses and asked people to shelter in place in their homes unless they absolutely must go out. If experts’ estimates are accurate, we can likely expect similar measures to be taken soon in many more states.

Another way our normal lives have been disrupted involves Amazon. We’re all so used to being able to order anything and everything we want from the nation’s top online retailer and then having it appear at our doors a few short days later. That’s no longer the case. Amazon is temporarily shifting its focus away from nonessential products to free up capacity for things like medical supplies. As a result, most regular shipments are deferred until late April at the soonest. There are some exceptions though, and one of them happens to be on the most popular headphones on the planet.

If you plan on listening to music, catching up on podcasts, and listening to plenty of audiobooks while you’re in self-quarantine, you definitely need a good pair of headphones so you don’t drive other family members crazy. Apple’s AirPods lineup is as good as it gets, and all three models including the insanely popular AirPods Pro with active noise cancelling are in stock right now and available to ship immediately.

Apple AirPods Pro: $249.00

What’s more, AirPods 2 and AirPods 2 with Wireless Charging Case are on sale with $30 discounts. That means the AirPods model with wireless charging is down to $169 instead of $199, and Apple’s entry-level AirPods 2 are on sale for just $129. That matches Black Friday’s all-time low price from last year, and if you order now they’ll be in your hands — and in your ears — by the end of the week.

Hidden deal no one knows about: Get a $20 Amazon credit when you buy 2 Fire TV Sticks

%name Hidden deal no one knows about: Get a $20 Amazon credit when you buy 2 Fire TV Sticks by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K are two of the most popular streaming media players in the world, and there’s an awesome hidden deal right now on Amazon that no one knows about.
  • Amazon’s unadvertised deal gets you a $20 Amazon credit when you buy and activate either two Fire TV Sticks or two Fire TV Stick 4K models.
  • That effectively slashes $10 off the price of each Fire TV Stick, but this deal isn’t likely to last long so you’ll have to take advantage of it right away.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Are you bummed about missing the sale last week that temporarily discounted the price of the $40 Fire TV Stick to within $3 of the popular streaming media player’s all-time low price? Well, don’t be, because it turns out that we didn’t have to wait very long at all for a new deal to pop up.

If you visit Amazon’s product page for the Fire TV Stick right now, you won’t see any mention of any deals. Head over to the retailer’s Fire TV Stick 4K page instead, and it’s the same story. The 4K model is listed at its normal price of $49.99, and there aren’t any mentions whatsoever of any available deals. But here’s where things get interesting. If you head over to Amazon’s Gold Box deals page instead and click on the Amazon Devices link, you’ll end up on this page where there’s a tasty little morsel hiding when you scroll down. Here’s a screenshot so you don’t even have to bother hunting for it:

Well what do we have here, bargain hunters? That’s right, there’s a hidden deal lurking on this page that you would probably never come across on your own, and it’ll get you a $20 Amazon credit when you buy two Fire TV Sticks or two Fire TV Stick 4K models and activate them. If you choose the Fire TV Stick, you’re basically slashing the price to just $29.99 each. If you select the Fire TV Stick 4K instead, you’re getting each one for the price of an entry-level Fire TV Stick model!

Amazon’s various new deals on Amazon devices normally pop up each Sunday and last for the full week, but there’s nothing normal happening on Amazon right now. These unadvertised deals just appeared on the Amazon site on Wednesday morning, and we have no idea how long they’re going to last. The only other thing to note is that the Fire TV Stick 4K is still shipping out right away as of the time of this writing, but shipping estimates on the Fire TV Stick have already begun to slip. This is a deal worth waiting for, of course, but the 4K model is probably the better bargain anyway, so that’s the route we would take. That way, you’ll have them in your hands within a few days — and you’ll have a $20 credit on your Amazon account.

Top 10 new shows everyone’s watching on Netflix and TV while in quarantine

%name Top 10 new shows everyone’s watching on Netflix and TV while in quarantine by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Everyone is on the lookout for new and returning series to watch on TV, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and all the other streaming services now that we’re all spending so much time at home.
  • One of the best ways to find entertaining new content is to see what other people are watching, and TV Time shares top 10 lists each week that use data from millions of viewers.
  • A Netflix original can be found in the #1 spot yet again this week, but far more shows from other networks and streaming services outperformed Netflix than usual this time around.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

If you’re starting to get restless while cooped up in your house or apartment, trust us when we tell you that you’re not alone. In fact, if you’re not getting restless that probably means you’re not self-quarantining, and that’s just plain irresponsible. Even if you live in a small, rural town as opposed to a big city, you’re still at risk and so is everyone around you. Do your part to slow the spread of the virus by staying home as much as possible, practicing social distancing when you do need to go out, and washing your hands as often as possible. With that out of the way, let’s get to the streaming.

Since most of us are spending so much more time than usual at home, we’re inevitably watching much more TV than normal. Unless you still pay for cable or satellite TV and you enjoy flipping aimlessly, you’re undoubtedly finishing shows and movies much more quickly than you typically would. If you’re looking for new series to check out, most people’s first stop is to chat with friends or family in search of recommendations. People keep telling us to watch Tiger King on Netflix, for example, because it’s apparently the craziest docuseries that Netflix has released since Don’t F**k With Cats. It’s definitely on our list, but we want more opinions than just a few people we know. That’s why we look to TV Time each week for recommendations instead of just a handful of friends.

Amazon has 9 new exclusive deals only for Prime members

%name Amazon has 9 new exclusive deals only for Prime members by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Amazon announced recently that it would shift focus away from nonessential products in order to free up warehouse and shipping capacity for important goods like medical supplies.
  • While most nonessential goods won’t be delivered again until sometime late next month, there are still some excellent deals available that are shipping out immediately.
  • Among them, Amazon is offering a number of different deals that will be hugely useful to people self-quarantining on the Fire 7, Fire HD 8, and Fire HD 10 Tablets.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Life is going to be anything but normal in the weeks and months to come, and it’s all thanks to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. What started as a handful of people who caught a mysterious unknown virus in Wuhan, China has exploded into a global pandemic that is ravaging many regions. Europe is now experiencing the worst of COVID-19, but things are expected to continue escalating in the United States and some experts believe we’re still as much as 6 weeks away from the peak of the outbreak in the US.

Among the things that have been disrupted, the days of people able to order anything you want on Amazon and having it show up at your door two days later are over. For now, at least. Amazon is focusing mainly on shipping essentials — or so it says, though we still can’t find any “essentials” anywhere on the site that are in stock — and shipments of most nonessential products have been delayed until late April at the soonest. Thankfully though, many products that can be extremely useful to responsible people across the country who are self-quarantining are still in stock and still shipping immediately. Examples include Apple AirPods and Amazon Kindles, all of which are on sale right now with deep discounts.

Those deals and more are available to anyone and everyone, and you can continue to follow the BGR Deals team to discover new deals that pop up each day. But there’s one batch of deals that recently popped up on Amazon that are among the best we’ve come across for quite some time, but they’re only available to a select few people. You guess it: Only Prime members can get in on the action, and you can start your 30-day Amazon Prime free trial if you aren’t already a subscriber.

Amazon’s new round of Prime-exclusive deals covers its wildly-popular Fire tablets, which are by far the best tablets on the planet if you don’t want to cough up the cash for an iPad. Prime members can score the top-of-the-line Fire HD 10 Tablet right now for just $99.99, which a killer price for this $150 slate with a big, beautiful HD display. On top of that, there are two more deals on Fire HD 10 Tablets bundles with a case, screen protector, and a 15W USB charger. Not that additional discounts are applied at checkout.

All-New Fire HD 10 Tablet (10.1″ 1080p full HD display, 32 GB) – Black: $99.99

The $80 Fire HD 8 Tablet is down to just $49.99 right now, and it’s probably the best value of all these Prime-exclusive deals. You’ll also find bundles similar to the ones available for that larger tablet model.

Fire HD 8 Tablet (8″ HD Display, 16 GB) – Black: $49.99

Last but certainly not least, the Fire 7 Tablet that’s already so affordable at $50 is currently on sale starting at $39.99, plus there are two bundles with the aforementioned accessories.

Florida coronavirus patient thinks last-minute hydroxychloroquine therapy saved his life

%name Florida coronavirus patient thinks last minute hydroxychloroquine therapy saved his life by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A novel coronavirus patient in serious condition thinks a last-minute hydroxychloroquine treatment saved his life.
  • The anti-malarial drug made the news in recent days following President Trump’s enthusiasm display when talking about a potential chloroquine-based COVID-19 therapy.
  • A limited study in France showed the anti-malaria drug may be promising against the coronavirus, while a study in China showed no evidence to support such claims. The WHO has included the drug in an ample trial to determine a potential COVID-19 treatment protocol.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The novel coronavirus is such a massive threat right now because it’s highly contagious, it has a long incubation period, it can be asymptomatic or mimic the signs of the common flu, and it has no cure. Scientists have been rushing to understand the pathology of COVID-19 since it emerged in China nearly three months ago, and we saw incredible results since then. But we still don’t have a treatment protocol that can increase recovery times and kill the virus before it can cause life-threatening respiratory complications. The World Health Organization (WHO) is overseeing a massive trial of four different drugs and combos that have proven to be successful in more limited studies, and the lists include an old medicine that has been used to treat malaria. Chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine made the news in recent days after President Trump praised it on TV, even though health experts warned that there’s no definitive proof that the anti-malaria drug can speed up COVID-19 recovery. However, anecdotal evidence may exist, and some patients may recover faster after chloroquine therapy. That’s certainly what a coronavirus patient believes, as he says the drug is what saved his life.

iPhone 12 release might be delayed until November

%name iPhone 12 release might be delayed until November by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The iPhone 12 leaks and renders that appeared online lately might not show the real thing, a leaker says, as the phone’s design hasn’t been finalized.
  • The coronavirus pandemic is preventing Appel execs from traveling to China, and that might delay the iPhone 12’s release date to October or November.
  • Apple is supposedly two months behind schedule with the iPhone 12, and production might not start in May, even if suppliers in China are ready.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The novel coronavirus pandemic practically froze the world, as many countries declared national emergencies because of the COVID-19, and imposed strict lockdown and quarantine measures. The best way you can do right now to limit the spread of the highly contagious virus is to stay home, practice good hygiene, and wait for authorities to lift the restrictions. Life, as we knew it before this unexpected plague, will start returning to normal in the coming months, but the effects of the new virus will be felt long after that, as the coronavirus threat changed everything. Entire industries have been paralyzed, events have been canceled or delayed, and jobs have been lost. It will be a while until we get back to normal, and that’s assuming we can defeat COVID-19 soon. That also includes product launches as some of this year’s highly anticipated gadgets might see various delays, depending on how long the pandemic lasts. This year’s new iPhone series might be hurt as well, with a leaker saying that the iPhone 12 could be pushed back as far as November.

Bill Gates explains why President Trump’s reaction to the coronavirus is so wrong

%name Bill Gates explains why President Trump’s reaction to the coronavirus is so wrong by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • President Trump attempted to make his case on Tuesday that the economy needs and ought to be quickly started back up again and businesses reopened despite the coronavirus impact that’s still being felt around the country.
  • Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates attacked that impatience to bring an end to the nation’s COVID-19 coronavirus response, which has included a large number of quarantines and shelter-in-place orders around the country, in new remarks Tuesday during a TED Connects program.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

President Trump on Tuesday said during a Fox News town hall that he wants “packed churches” and to have “the country opened up” again by Easter, despite continued warnings from health officials that the US is nowhere near getting the growing coronavirus crisis under control.

And then there’s Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ reaction to that impatience from the president. Gates used stark, visceral language during a TED Connects program broadcast Tuesday to explain why Trump’s reaction is so misguided when it comes to the novel coronavirus — and how it’s also potentially deadly.

A tube that did nothing but eat and poop is your oldest ancestor

%name A tube that did nothing but eat and poop is your oldest ancestor by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Researchers studying fossils from Australia have discovered what they believe is the oldest known ancestor of all animal life on Earth, including humans. Described as a “tiny, wormlike creature,” it was basically a fleshy little tube that did little more than eat and poop. For some of us, that description might hit a little too close to home.

The discovery, which is the subject of a new paper published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, reveals some key details about the creature that we can all trace our ancestry to. The worm-ish organism has been named Ikaria wariootia, but what it lacks in a flashy name it makes up for by being, well, almost entirely unremarkable.

Coronavirus hits Kennedy Space Center, further complicating NASA’s plans

%name Coronavirus hits Kennedy Space Center, further complicating NASA’s plans by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Coronavirus confirmed in an employee from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
  • NASA is trying to keep its various missions on schedule, recently stating that the Mars 2020 mission is still a go, at least for the moment.
  • The employee who tested positive for COVID-19 hadn’t been to the center for at least 10 days prior to testing positive for the virus.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected every possible industry in one way or another, and the US space program is no different. NASA has shuttered a number of its centers, pushing staff to work from home and only allowing mission-critical personnel to access certain facilities. Now, just a day after the agency put out a release detailing its plans for the immediate future, Florida Today is reporting that an employee at the Kennedy Space Center has tested positive for the virus.

The employee was reportedly last present at the facility over 10 days prior to testing positive for the virus and had already been working from home under NASA’s mandate to do so. Still, it’s unclear if the individual was infected during his most recent days at the center.

These are the best credit cards for food delivery, since we’re all stuck at home right now

%name These are the best credit cards for food delivery, since we’re all stuck at home right now by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The novel coronavirus outbreak that’s kept much of the US hunkered down at home to avoid catching (and triggering community spread of) the virus means many people are relying on food delivery services like UberEats and DoorDash and lot more than usual these days.
  • In this post, we recommend a few credit card offers for anyone who wants to maximize their rewards and get the best bang for their buck as they utilize these food delivery services more frequently.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

BGR has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. BGR and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Please note: the offers mentioned below are subject to change at any time and some may no longer be available.

One of the biggest adjustments that the novel coronavirus is causing to the average person’s daily life has to do with the quarantines and stay-at-home orders that an increasing number of cities around the US are now subject to — orders that are having a massive impact especially on local restaurant communities. The closure of non-essential businesses in tandem with these orders means that bars and restaurants have been forced to shutter, leaving them with only the option to offer takeout and delivery services until the pandemic is resolved. Meanwhile, many of the major food delivery services — including Seamless, DoorDash, Delivery.com and Caviar — have come out with new policies that offer low-risk (and no-contact) delivery options to protect both customers and workers. DoorDash, for example, sent users an email detailing new ways to request a delivery where customers can add a drop-off location and coordinate with their “Dasher” to eliminate person-to-person interactions.
