Sony just revealed a huge PS5 detail and we nearly missed it

  • Sony hasn’t revealed anything new about the PlayStation 5 in several months, even though Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series X design and main specs via two separate surprise announcements.
  • But Sony’s Head of PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios did address a key detail about the upcoming console: PS5 games.
  • Hermen Hulst said that Sony is committed to “strong narrative-driven, single-player games.” And it’s single-player games that will make the PS5’s hardware capabilities truly shine.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The eyes of the gaming world are all on Sony and Microsoft right now, as the companies prepare to release two of the most important gadgets of the year. We’re talking about the PS5 and Xbox Series X, of course, which will hit stores this fall no matter what happens with the novel coronavirus pandemic. There are worries about stock shortages at launch since the outbreak might still impact production, but the consoles should reach stores this holiday season.

At this point, Sony is losing the console launch war with Microsoft because the latter is a couple of steps ahead when it comes to announcements. Microsoft showed the Series X design in December and followed up in mid-February with an almost complete set of specs and features. Sony, meanwhile, has been quiet on both fronts. We have no idea what the PS5 will look like and the console’s official specs are also missing in action. But Sony did just reveal a considerable detail about the PS5, and we nearly missed it.

  • You can easily clean your phone using common sanitizing products.
  • Use a CDC-approved cleaner, but avoid bleach and heavy-duty chemicals.
  • Clean your phone and phone case separately.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Sanitizing your smartphone doesn’t have to be complicated. Combining cleaning agents (especially sprays) with electronics can seem like a bad idea, but as the world reacts to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to know how to keep your smartphone free of the virus and anything else that could make you or someone else sick.

You touch your phone countless times each day, and with what we know about how the coronavirus COVID-19 spreads — it can live on surfaces for many hours — your phone could become an easy avenue for the virus to infect you. The good news is that there are a ton of readily-available cleaning products that are known to kill the virus, and applying them to your phone is relatively straightforward.

Friends will never be back on Netflix – save $15 on the DVDs or $130 off the Blu-ray box set

%name Friends will never be back on Netflix – save $15 on the DVDs or $130 off the Blu ray box set by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • More than 25 years after the sitcom first premiered in 1994, Friends is still one of the most popular television shows people are watching right now.
  • The entire series of Friends had been available to stream on Netflix, but the platform’s license to stream the series expired a few months ago on January 1, 2020.
  • Friends will soon be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max following the service’s launch, but fans of the show might want to take advantage of Amazon’s deep discounts on the complete series box set instead.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It has been 26 years since Friends first aired on NBC on September 22, 1994. Can you believe that? Twenty-six years! Rachel Green fled her wedding and ran into childhood friend Monica Green before taking a job as a coffee house waitress at “Central Perk,” and the rest, as they say, is history. The show lasted an impressive 10 seasons before wrapping up in May of 2004, and it was one of the most popular shows on TV back then. Incredibly, it’s still one of the most popular shows all these years later in 2020.

For years, all 10 seasons of Friends was available to stream on Netflix and the series was among the most popular content on the platform the entire time it was there. Unfortunately for Netflix subscribers, the company lost its rights to the show and it disappeared from Netflix’s catalog on January 1, 2020.

Where did Friends go, you ask? Well, it didn’t really go anywhere. For the time being, Friends isn’t available to be streamed legally on any streaming media platform. It’s a bummer, but that’s how things will be until later this year when HBO Max launches. The new HBO service will be the exclusive streaming home to the series moving forward, which means you can’t legally stream Friends anytime in the foreseeable future unless you plan to cough up $15 a month for HBO Max once it launches. Lucky for you, you won’t need to stream the show anymore before you’re about to save a ton of money on the DVDs or Blu-rays!

Amazon is running a great sale right now on both Friends: The Complete Series on DVD and Friends: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. The former retails for $70 but is on sale for just $54.99 right now, and the latter has a sky-high retail price of $190 but has a massive $130 discount today. That slashes the price to just $59.99, which is an absolute steal. Definitely don’t miss this deal.

Stunning iPhone 12 design video shows Apple’s new leaked color

%name Stunning iPhone 12 design video shows Apple’s new leaked color by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple’s iPhone 12 will feature a major redesign, marking the first time in three years that Apple will release a new iPhone model with an updated design.
  • Both the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models Apple releases in 2020 will feature a new look with flat metal edges reminiscent of the iPhone 5’s beloved design.
  • The higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are expected to be made available in a totally new color that leaked recently, and now a new video imagines Apple’s upcoming new iPhone 12 Pro in the stunning new color.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

When it comes to Apple’s iPhone 12 release and its iPhone 9 release that was expected in the coming weeks, everything seems to be up in the air right now. A report just yesterday suggested that Apple will completely cancel its iPhone 9 release next month not because of manufacturing issues, but because the company doesn’t want to encourage people to gather en masse at its stores in light of the novel coronavirus outbreak. As a reminder, the iPhone 9 is also referred to as “iPhone SE 2,” and it’s expected to be a lower-cost iPhone starting at $399 that uses the iPhone 8’s design with updated specs in line with the iPhone 11.

As far as Apple’s new flagship iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are concerned, things are even more unclear right now. Numerous reports suggest that the COVID-19 outbreak will force Apple to delay its iPhone 12 release until October or possibly November, though the company still might announce the phones in September. That doesn’t sound too terrible, but there’s one slight problem: many experts believe that the coronavirus outbreak will continue to get worse and worse in the coming months. If it does, there’s no telling what might happen to Apple’s plans for the iPhone 12. As of Thursday morning, there are more than 120,000 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus and the spread isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon. Regardless of when Apple finally releases its iPhone 12 lineup, however, we already know plenty about the new design and features thanks to numerous leaks from reliable sources. Now, a new video helps visualize everything we’ve heard, and it also shows Apple’s new iPhone 12 Pro in the stunning new color that leaked earlier this year.

Coronavirus prep 101: 5 essentials you should stock up on while you still can

%name Coronavirus prep 101: 5 essentials you should stock up on while you still can by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Coronavirus panic reached new heights this week as people around the world watch the crisis unfold in Italy.
  • Despite repeated warnings from experts, many people still think the panic is overblown and they’re not taking proper precautions, which is expected to speed the spread of COVID-19.
  • That leads to even more panic among people who do recognize the need to prepare themselves, which means they’re overbuying many products like hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in order to stockpile them. Now, other people are forced to take additional measure in order to ensure they have essential products on hand
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

At this point, there’s really no question whatsoever that the novel coronavirus will begin to spread uncontrollably in the United States. The COVID-19 outbreak that began in Wuhan, China continues to show up in more and more regions around the country, and it’s not just people in big cities who need to worry. In fact, it seems like new confirmed cases are popping up in suburban areas just as quickly as they are in big cities.

Now, there’s no question that people are going overboard by rushing out to their local grocery stores and picking the shelves dry of things like toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, and even common over-the-counter medications.

There are two reasons you should try to stock up on certain things right now, and people’s tendency to panic and overbuy as mentioned above is one of them. Simply put, common household items might not be there when you need them because so many local stores are having trouble keeping them in stock. There’s another reason too, though: things are going to get worse before they get better. COVID-19 coronavirus will continue to spread, and the more you stock up on now, the less you’ll have to go out for later.

With that in mind, there are a few things you should think about loading up on now, while you still can. And the very first thing on the list is hand soap, and dozens of popular options are still available to purchase on Amazon. Purell is going to be impossible to come by for a long time and besides, hand soap and warm water work better anyway. Just make sure you wash your hands thoroughly (sing Happy Birthday in your head twice if you’re wondering how long you should continue to scrub) and remember to just buy normal hand soap, not antibacterial soap.

Popular Hand Soaps On Amazon: $0.99+

Next up, make sure you load up on bottled water. We’re not on the verge of a zombie apocalypse and sewage systems aren’t going to collapse. Still, no one wants to drink tap water and bottled water is always among the first things to sell out when people start to really panic. And let’s not forget that lugging all those bottles home from the supermarket is a pain in the butt! Pick up a bunch on Amazon instead, where you’ll find lower prices anyway.

Popular Bottled Water On Amazon: $2.48+

Anything and everything with bleach in it is going to sell out too, and bleach cleaners are already very difficult to come by in many regions around the US. You might as well grab some laundry detergent and dish soap while you’re at it.

Popular Bleach Products On Amazon: $7.75+

Next up, and we can’t stress this one enough, you should really think about stocking up and any and all medicines and health care products you might need. Get an extra 30-day supply of any prescription medications you might take, and you can take care of everything else on Amazon, like Advil, Tylenol, Nyquil, Dayquil, antacids, and more. The last thing you want is to be sick with something unrelated to COVID-19 and not have the medicine you need.

Popular Health Care Products On Amazon: $3.97+

Last but certainly not least, keep your eye on Amazon’s toilet paper page. Things are coming back into stock constantly and if you go out right now, you’ll find that toilet paper isn’t easy to come by. Definitely stock up on TP while you still can.

Popular Toilet Paper On Amazon: $5.28+

%name This brand new gaming phone has better specs than the Galaxy S20 and it’s a lot cheaper by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A brand new Nubia gaming phone features Galaxy S20-grade specs for a more affordable price tag.
  • The Red Magic 5G comes with 5G support as well as a few unique features, including a 144Hz and air-cooled interior.
  • The gaming phone is available in China for the moment, with prices ranging from around $540 and going all the way up to $740 for the most expensive transparent version.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The Galaxy S20 phones sport amazing specs, especially the Ultra version, which features up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. But they’re also a lot more expensive than expected. They’re all 5G devices, which is one reason why the cheapest Galaxy S20 costs $999. But plenty of Samsung competitors are ready to launch Galaxy S20 rivals that sport almost the same specs, 5G support included, and much better prices. The latest such device is a gaming phone that you may have a hard time finding in stores.

Apple reopens stores in China, just as it suspends Today at Apple sessions in the US

%name Apple reopens stores in China, just as it suspends Today at Apple sessions in the US by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The coronavirus outbreak is getting worse in western countries, and Apple is taking steps to ensure the safety of customers and employees.
  • Today at Apple sessions in Canada, Mexico, and the US have been suspended, and they’re not available to other markets either, including China, Italy, and Japan.
  • Apple’s 42 retail stores have opened in China, however, where they’ve been closed for more than a month.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The coronavirus outbreak is getting worse in western countries and other regions, but the situation has been steadily improving in China, where it all began. The country needed more than two months to slow down the infection rate, a process that almost brought to a halt the economy in certain regions. Strict lockdown policies meant to quarantine the Wuhan region and other hot zones in the country had a massive impact on day to day life as well as business. Millions of people were advised to stay indoors to reduce the risk of transmissions, and these measures had a direct impact on the economy. Apple is just one of the many companies directly affected by the coronavirus lockdowns in China, and the company was forced to shut all its 42 stores in the region. These stores are open again in the region, just as Apple is adapting store operations in the US due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The killer feature I wish Netflix would add that could be a game-changer

%name The killer feature I wish Netflix would add that could be a game changer by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Netflix is an absolutely indispensable entertainment option for me these days — and, I suspect, for many of you in light of the spread of the coronavirus which is forcing a growing number of people to self-quarantine and practice social distancing. The boredom from staying at home is going to get old pretty quick, and binge-watching your favorite Netflix series is one way to pass the time.
  • I do have one suggestion of a killer new feature I wish the streamer would add: More proactive descriptions about what the status is for all the shows you love that you’re waiting on right now. This one is in production, that one is delayed, whatever — something concrete so I didn’t have to actively scour the web constantly to figure out what’s going on with my shows.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

With all of the self-quarantining going on at the moment in response to the inexorable spread of the coronavirus, not to mention people changing up their daily patterns and hunkering down away from crowds and public spaces, it doesn’t take a fortune-teller to predict there’s going to be a lot more streaming and Netflix-and-chilling in the days and weeks to come as many of us turn into temporary homebodies.

If you follow any of Netflix’s various social media accounts, you may have seen the streamer gently trying to prod everyone to do exactly that by offering not-so-subtle reminders of the massive library of content available to binge via the service. Personally, I’ve also noticed an uptick in those reminder emails that Netflix sends out, reminding me I’ve been a laggard in getting caught up on the various series in my library. “Don’t forget to finish The Good Place” reads the subject line of an email I got from Netflix just today, in fact. I know some of you get annoyed by this kind of thing, but I don’t mind it too much. One request I do have of the streamer, however, regards the addition of a new feature along these same lines that I think could be a game-changer, would hook me even more deeply on the service, and would be especially useful right now when you’ve got a ton of viewers who are going to be settling in for no doubt multiple binge sessions over the coming days.
