  • The 1996 film Space Jam starring Michael Jordan is an iconic movie that is set to have a sequel starring LeBron James.
  • If things go as planned, Space Jam 2 will hit theaters sometime during the summer of 2021
  • Recently leaked video reveals that the highly anticipated film will include a number of intriguing cameos from the likes of The Mask, NBA star Damian Lillard, and more.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Space Jam isn’t an award-winning movie by any means, but the 1996 film starring Michael Jordan and an assortment of other NBA stars is certainly iconic. And seeing as we currently live in a media landscape where movie executives are more interested in reboots and sequels than they are with developing original content, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that there’s going to be a second installment of the beloved space-themed action-comedy hitting theaters soon.

Naturally called Space Jam 2, the sequel will have LeBron James in the starring role and is set to be released on July 16th of next year. Suffice it to say, Space Jam 2 will likely be a huge box office success bolstered by the nostalgia for the first film and the star power of LeBron James.

ExoMars mission delayed to 2022, and coronavirus played a role

%name ExoMars mission delayed to 2022, and coronavirus played a role by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The launch of the ExoMars mission has been delayed from 2020 to 2022 over testing woes and coronavirus concerns.
  • The mission, which is being conducted by the European Space Agency in partnership with Russia’s Roscosmos, had previously been slated for a launch this summer.
  • NASA’s Mars 2020 mission is still on schedule, at least for now.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The ExoMars mission slated to launch this year has been delayed to 2022 over the need for additional testing as well as fears that the coronavirus pandemic would prevent the necessary personnel from being able to travel freely. The decision was announced by the European Space Agency, which has partnered with Russia’s Roscosmos for the mission.

Preparation for the mission is very close to complete, but testing of the parachutes that will ensure a soft landing on the Martian surface revealed the need for additional tweaking. With the timeline so short, and with the looming coronavirus pandemic complicating things even more, the team has made the tough call to delay the mission until 2022.

The Model Y may be the first vehicle Tesla ever releases on time

%name The Model Y may be the first vehicle Tesla ever releases on time by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Tesla’s Model Y, the company’s highly anticipated crossover version of the Model 3, may start shipping to early reservation holders as soon as this week.
  • Tesla has a bad history of releasing news cars months, if not years, behind schedule. The Model Y, therefore, may represent the first car Tesla has ever shipped on time.
  • As Tesla sales reached new heights in 2019 thanks to the popularity of the Model 3, the Model Y may very well see Tesla set new records for sales and revenue in 2020.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

What’s always been fascinating about Tesla is that a lot of the company’s problems haven’t stemmed from a lack of demand, but rather a lack of supply. Whereas most automotive companies work diligently to boost sales and overall interest, Tesla has always struggled with boosting production to a sufficient level to meet overwhelming demand.

What’s more, every car Tesla has ever released has been subject to significant delays. From the original Roadster to the Model 3, Tesla has a bad habit of announcing production deadlines and release dates that it simply can’t meet. Model X deliveries, for example, were initially expected to begin in early 2014. A myriad of production issues, however, pushed that date all the way back to September of 2014, representing a nearly two-year delay.

Samsung is working on a mysterious new display for smartphones

%name Samsung is working on a mysterious new display for smartphones by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Major smartphone releases still to come this year from Samsung include the Galaxy Note 20, with some color renders having recently emerged to suggest the kind of design Samsung is likely to give the handset.
  • Meantime, the electronics giant has apparently been working on a mysterious new kind of smartphone display technology, one for which it’s just filed a trademark application. It’s not clear what the technology will consist of, as the filing describes it as essentially a screen for a smartphone without revealing anything else.
  • The new display could show up in the Note 20, but there’s also a chance it could be intended for some of Samsung’s more experimental smartphone designs, like the handsets with extendable screens that the company has been experimenting with.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

One of the things Samsung does as well as anybody — okay, better than most everyone else, really — is the manufacture of gorgeous, top-of-the-line smartphone displays. Back in 2008, Samsung introduced the first AMOLED display, following that up with other display technology refinements like the Super AMOLED display and Dynamic AMOLED displays. That latter has been a fixture of the S10, as well as making an appearance in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip, both of which rely on this kind of display.

Meantime, it should come as no surprise that Samsung is continuing to push the bounds of its smartphone display expertise — and, in fact, the consumer electronics giant seems to be working on an entirely new kind of display, although it seems to be keeping the details under wraps at the moment.

The iPhone’s best feature might be coming to the MacBook soon

%name The iPhone’s best feature might be coming to the MacBook soon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • All iPhone 12 and 2020 iPad Pro models are expected to feature Face ID, the sophisticated 3D face recognition feature that Apple introduced alongside the iPhone X.
  • A new discovery suggests that Apple might be exploring new features for Face ID, which could work best on devices with bigger screens, including iPads and MacBooks.
  • Screen content encryption is a feature that would scramble content on the screen for people who might be looking at the device without authorization.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

From the moment I started using Face ID on the iPhone X a few years ago, I never looked back. 3D face recognition doesn’t always work, and may take a while to master, but it’s the best thing to have happened to the iPhone in years. It delivers instant, perpetual authentication, which is impressive to use not just for unlocking the phone, but also for other apps that might require password input or biometrics-based authentication.

In other words, if an app supports Face ID, I have it enabled, and logging into it is a breeze. I’ve said before that Face ID is the future of authentication for Apple devices, and the feature might soon be used on more products, not just the iPhone and iPad Pro. In fact, if there’s a product I’d want to see Face ID on, it’s the Mac.

AirPods shipments may jump by as much as 50% this year

%name AirPods shipments may jump by as much as 50% this year by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple’s AirPods may have been mocked when first introduced, but the earbuds have proven to be a huge money-maker for Apple.
  • Apple has steadily built out its AirPods line, adding the AirPods Pro this past October. There are even rumors that a low-cost AirPods may ship sometime this year.
  • AirPods shipments in 2020 may jump by as much as 50% in 2020, according to sources in Apple’s supply chain.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s no secret that iPhone sales, at best, have been somewhat stagnant over the past few years. Despite Apple’s best efforts to create excitement surrounding new models, the simple reality is that most iPhone releases over the past few years have been incremental at best. And while this doesn’t mean that new iPhone models are unimpressive with respect to performance and new features, it does illustrate that convincing iPhone owners to upgrade is more challenging than ever.

That notwithstanding, a lack of iPhone sales growth hasn’t fundamentally impacted Apple’s bottom line. For starters, with iPhone sales now priced higher than ever, Apple has been able to offset a drop off in iPhone sales volume with a higher ASP per phone. What’s more, Apple has a burgeoning services division that continues to grow at an impressive clip. And last but not least, Apple’s “Wearables, Home, and Accessories” division — which includes AirPods and the Apple Watch — continues to see huge increases in quarterly revenue.

Southwest, Frontier, and JetBlue are offering insanely cheap flights right now

  • If you’re a traveler who doesn’t mind the risk of exposure to coronavirus, or maybe you’re trying to rush home to conclude your travel or you need to fly the friendly skies for any other reason, airlines are desperate for your business right now. Moreover, many of them are running incredible deals at the moment.
  • JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, and Frontier Airlines are among the carriers slashing prices on fares right now, as the travel industry struggles to deal with the slump in demand over coronavirus fears.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

In the wake of President Trump’s Oval Office address Wednesday night announcing a travel ban from Europe that goes into effect on Friday at midnight, you’d be forgiven for assuming that everyone is hunkering down right now and people are too skittish to travel because of the coronavirus spread.

Regarding Trump’s address specifically, the US is preparing to implement a ban on travel from Europe to the US by foreign nationals. In general, the travel industry is getting hit particularly hard at the moment as a result of people too scared to travel for fear of picking up the virus. However, there may still be plenty of you who want to travel or who might need to — say, in order to rush home. That said, several major airlines have slashed prices to the bone right now, such that cheap flights are particularly abundant at the moment from carriers like Southwest, JetBlue, and Frontier.

Coronavirus vaccine poised to begin human trials

%name Coronavirus vaccine poised to begin human trials by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • An early COVID-19 vaccine is quickly being readied for human trials.
  • The company behind the drug, Moderna, hoped to have human testing underway by summer, but now says it could begin within weeks.
  • Even if the vaccine is safe and effective, it will still take many months before it’s widely available.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

One of the first US companies to come up with a viable vaccine candidate for the COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly approaching its first human trials. The treatment was developed by Moderna, which provided the National Institutes of Health with samples of its vaccine in preparation for the eventual trials that will determine whether it is effective in preventing the virus from infecting a patient.

Initially, it was believed that the trials wouldn’t be able to begin until summer, but that timeline has dramatically shifted. The priority now is finding a treatment that works, but even if Moderna’s drug is effective, that doesn’t mean it’ll be available any time soon.

New PS5 leak suggests performance will be similar to Xbox Series X

%name New PS5 leak suggests performance will be similar to Xbox Series X by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • New PlayStation 5 leak suggests that the next-gen console with ship with an 11.06 teraflop GPU with 52 compute units clocked at 1743 MHz.
  • This PS5 leak seems to suggest Sony’s console will match up well with the Xbox Series X.
  • Microsoft announced last month that the Xbox Series X GPU will leverage 12 teraflops of performance.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage to read more stories.

When February came and went without a peep from Sony about the PlayStation 5, it became clear that the schedule for the next-gen console’s reveal would not follow that of the PS4, which made its debut at the PlayStation Meeting on February 20th, 2013. Sony had something else in store for its next console, but with the coronavirus outbreak shutting down entire countries, it’s possible that everything has been pushed back. Whatever the case, we’re now almost two weeks into March, and we know as much about the PS5 now as we did on New Year’s Day.

In the meantime, those desperate for news have turned to self-proclaimed insiders for even the smallest tidbits, and while many of the leaks regarding the PS5 have been unsubstantiated and nonsensical, others (some of which we’ve covered) are more believable, which is the case with a recent post on the NeoGAF forum.
