Stop buying $200 Nest Cams when you can get 8 Wyze Cams for less money

  • Google’s Nest Cam Indoor is one of the most popular wireless home security cameras on the market right now, but it’s also extremely expensive with its $200 price tag.
  • Meanwhile, Amazon is currently running a sale on the top-rated Wyze Cam 1080p Home Camera that slashes the price to $46.95 for a 2-pack.
  • That works out to just $23.30 per camera, which means you can buy eight Wyze Cams to cover your entire home and still have money left over compared to buying only one Nest Cam.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The Nest Cam was instrumental in creating and popularizing the wireless home security camera category. Of that, there is no question. As it did with its smart thermometers, Nest created a product that was wonderfully useful and remarkably easy to set up. Back then, the device’s $200 price tag might have been at least somewhat reasonable, since it was an emerging space and there wasn’t much competition. The problem now, however, is that there are plenty of other options out there that are just as good and they cost a small fraction of what Nest is charging.

A perfect example is the Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera, which is already a steal at $26 shipped. It has all the main features you could ask for such as 1080p resolution, night vision, motion detection, and two-way audio. Beyond that, however, it has another awesome feature you might not even think to ask for: 14 days of free cloud storage for your video recordings! $26 is beyond reasonable for this great camera, but you can buy a 2-pack right now on Amazon for just $46.36, which works out to $23.18 per camera. In other words, you can literally buy EIGHT Wyze Cams for less than you would spend on ONE Nest Cam.

Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera with Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with…: $46.36 ($23.18 each)

Here’s a blurb from the Amazon page that has some more info:

Wyze Cam V2 delivers fast, clear, live stream footage direct to your smartphone via the Wyze app (iOS and Android), day or night. With motion and sound detection you can receive an alert anytime your Wyze Cam V2 detects sound and motion, and view up to 14 days of saved alert videos for free – no monthly fees or subscription required. Use the Wyze Cam v2’s new motion tagging feature to easily identify motion in both live stream and playback video modes. Plus, you can add an 8GB, 16GB or 32GB microSD card (sold separately) to enable continuous recording and schedule custom time-lapse videos, and use 2-way audio to talk and listen through your Wyze Cam V2. Use the Wyze app to manage and view multiple cameras, share your cameras with other users, view alert videos, and record and share photos and videos directly from the app. The Wyze Cam V2 must be powered to use (it does not have a battery) and is designed for indoor use (it is not weatherproof). Power Adapter Input – 110-240V (AC/DC). WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz (Does not support 5GHz network) Supports WPA and WPA2 protocols

iPhone 12 release and iPhone 9 reportedly delayed due to coronavirus

%name iPhone 12 release and iPhone 9 reportedly delayed due to coronavirus by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple’s iPhone 12 series will feature the first big iPhone redesign in three years, and it’s the most hotly anticipated smartphone release of 2020.
  • Four new iPhone 12 models are expected to debut this coming September and a fifth new iPhone model — the iPhone 9 — is believed to be ready for a reveal even sooner, perhaps as early as the end of March.
  • According to multiple reports, the novel coronavirus outbreak will delay Apple’s iPhone 12 release as well as the iPhone 9 release, which was expected in early April.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Apple’s planned iPhone 12 release is still more than six months away, but the upcoming new iPhone series is already the most talked-about phone series in the world right now. iPhones always get tons of buzz each and every year, of course, but the iPhone 12’s early hype is particularly interesting because 2020 should be a year that people are more focused on Android phones. After a couple of years where Android smartphones got a bit dull, this year we’re seeing nifty new designs become more popular. Samsung’s hole-punch display style is being used much more widely — in fact, just about every Android vendor is copying it — and there are finally a few foldable smartphones launching this year that have better designs than last year’s Galaxy Fold, which was a mess from start to finish. And yet despite all that, the iPhone 12’s leaked design overhaul seems to have captured everyone’s attention.

There’s no question that Apple fans are in for a treat this year thanks to a sleek new iPhone 12 design, but a huge iPhone 12 leak last week suggested that the next-generation iPhone series will feature far more upgrades than just the phone’s design. But now, following reports that Apple’s iPhone 9 release will likely be delayed due to manufacturing complications brought about by the novel coronavirus outbreak, multiple reports from independent sources suggest that Apple’s iPhone 12 release will be delayed as well.

Powerbeats4 just leaked – get $200 Powerbeats3 on sale for $70 instead

%name Powerbeats4 just leaked – get $200 Powerbeats3 on sale for $70 instead by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple is widely believed to be prepping new Powerbeats4 wireless earbuds for release, and now a German blog called WinFuture has published leaked photos and specs for the upcoming next-generation earbuds.
  • The new model will feature a slightly updated design compared to Apple’s current-generation Powerbeats 3 earphones, as well as slightly improved battery life and “Hey Siri” support. No other major changes are expected.
  • Given the inevitable $200 price tag, Amazon’s current deal that slashes Powerbeats3 wireless earphones to just $69.99 is a much smarter buy.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s not exactly a mystery that Apple is working on next-generation Powerbeats earbuds to replace the popular Powerbeats3 model that was first released back in 2016. Dubbed Powerbeats4, the new version has long been expected to feature a few key updates, including a tweaked design and Apple’s H1 chip. Nothing too exciting, but just enough of a refresh to pique people’s interest. Now, images of the new Powerbeats4 wireless earphones have been posted by WinFuture along with specs and key details.

In a nutshell, Powerbeats4 are exactly what we expected. They sport a minor design refresh that’s in line with Apple’s true wireless Powerbeats Pro earbuds, and they have slightly better battery life as well as “Hey Siri” support thanks to the new Apple H1 chip that’s in AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro (both of which are discounted right now at Amazon, by the way).

Powerbeats 4 shaping up to be a fine upgrade, but it’s pretty apparent that they’re not going to be all that much better than the Powerbeats3 model that’s already available now. With that in mind — and considering the fact that Powerbeats4 will almost certainly cost $200 when they launch in the coming months — there’s a sale right now on Amazon that you should definitely take advantage of if you’re in the market for new Beats earphones.

Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones – Apple W1 Headphone Chip, Class 1 Bluetooth, 12 Hours Of Listen…: $69.99

Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones already feature fantastic 12-hour battery life, a great design, and Apple’s W1 headphone chip that provides easy Bluetooth pairing and other enhanced features when used with iPhones and iPads. You can also access Siri with a single tap, and the awesome Fast Fuel feature adds a full hour of playback when you charge the earphones for just 5 minutes when the battery is low. That’s right, a full hour in just 5 minutes!

If you’re more concerned with value than you are with paying extra money just to have the latest and greatest gadgets even if they don’t offer much in the way of upgrades, you should definitely take advantage of today’s killer Powerbeats3 deal on Amazon. They retail for $200 just like Powerbeats4 will at launch, but they’re on sale right now in the hottest available color option for just $69.99.

Galaxy S20 phones aren’t as good as iPhone 11 Pro in durability tests

%name Galaxy S20 phones aren’t as good as iPhone 11 Pro in durability tests by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The new Galaxy S20 phones are made of glass, like many other smartphone flagships, iPhone 11 series included.
  • SquareTrade durability test shows that the Galaxy S20 isn’t more durable than the iPhone 11 series, and you’ll definitely need a protective case.
  • Apple’s glass-sandwich was able to survive a tumble test, while the Galaxy S20’s glass cracked in all tests.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The Galaxy S20 series started selling in stores on Friday, which means you can test it out in person before deciding to spend north of $1,000 for one of the three models. But when you do pull the trigger, be ready to invest in protective gear, including a decent case and a screen protector — the phone comes with a screen protector pre-installed. That’s because the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra are all susceptible to glass damage following accidental drops and tumbles. We saw a Galaxy S20 Ultra drop test a few days ago which revealed that both the screen and the rear glass panels will crack when dropped on concrete from around three feet. The glass covering the Ultra’s sophisticated camera lens survived the carnage, however, withstanding repeated drops from six feet. This brings us to SquareTrade’s durability tests, which include drops against concrete, tumble drops, bend tests, and dunk tests. Spoiler alert, all S20 models fail the drop and tumble tests, just as you expected.

$200 Sony wireless noise cancelling earbuds are $87 today on Amazon

%name $200 Sony wireless noise cancelling earbuds are $87 today on Amazon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Amazon is running a big sale today on Sony WF1000XBM1 true wireless earbuds with active noise cancelling.
  • These cord-free Sony earbuds have a retail price of $200, and the silver color option still costs close to that amount on Amazon and elsewhere.
  • Sony WF1000XBM1 true wireless noise cancelling earbuds offer terrific sound quality, digital noise cancelling technology, and up to 9 hours of battery life with the included charging case.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

When most people think of Sony true wireless earbuds, they think of the Sony WF1000XM3 truly wireless earbuds. These active noise cancelling earbuds are indeed industry leaders, offering best-in-class sound quality and ANC technology that many reviewers agree outperforms any other earphones on the market. They are indeed fantastic, but they’re also quite expensive with a retail price of $230. They happen to be on sale right now at Black Friday’s lowest price, so now is a terrific time to buy a pair if you have your heart set on them.

As great as the WF1000XM3 earphones are though, there’s another pair of earbuds you might want to consider instead because they happen to be on sale today with a massive discount of more than $110.

Sony Wireless Headphones: $87.13

The Sony WF1000XBM1 true wireless earbuds aren’t quite as cutting-edge as the pricier pair, but they still blow away most rivals. The sound quality is excellent, battery life is on par with Apple AirPods, and they feature digital noise cancelling tech that does a great job at drowning out surrounding noise. Custom 6mm drivers provide crisp, clear sound that offers clear distinction between instruments. Muddiness is often a problem with earbuds this small, but you won’t have to worry about that at all with these Sony buds.

A great feature that Sony calls “Smart Listening by Adaptive Sound Control” on the Sony WF1000XBM1 true wireless earbuds can automatically detect your surroundings and adjust the level of noise cancelling to suit the scene. It’s a very cool feature that similar models don’t have, and it can be adjusted using the settings in Sony’s free app.

These terrific cord-free ANC earphones have a retail price of $200, and that’s how much you’ll pay if you buy them elsewhere. Pick up a pair today on Amazon, however, and you’ll only pay $87.13! That’s the lowest price we’ve seen in a year, and you should definitely take advantage.

Apple Watch is about to get a revolutionary new health feature that could save your life

%name Apple Watch is about to get a revolutionary new health feature that could save your life by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Thanks to a combination of hardware and software, Apple Watch has evolved over the years into a powerful health and wellness tool for millions of users.
  • Soon, at least one new and potentially life-saving capability will be added to its feature set: The ability to analyze blood-oxygen levels, according to a new report. That’s important, because low blood-oxygen levels could signal an impending health emergency.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

There have been countless stories over the past couple of years about how Apple Watch saves lives, thanks in part to the watch’s heart rate monitor that can spot life-threatening health conditions early. That’s one reason some insurance companies have decided to just go ahead and subsidize the cost of an Apple Watch for its members. Meantime, a new report has shed some light on even more health features along these lines that are coming to the watch soon — and stand to make it an even more powerful complement to users’ overall wellness regimens.

It’s a good thing Elon Musk isn’t in charge of the coronavirus response

%name It’s a good thing Elon Musk isn’t in charge of the coronavirus response by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted a 5-word tweet Friday afternoon that suggested coronavirus panic is “dumb.”
  • He’s continuing to take a fair amount of criticism on Twitter for this as coronavirus continues to spread. Contrast his statement, meanwhile, with another move from Apple CEO Tim Cook in response to the virus — he’s called this an “unprecedented event” and is allowing Apple employees in high-impact areas to work from home this week.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

As of the time of this writing, Elon Musk’s tweet from Friday afternoon calling coronavirus panic “dumb” has been liked more than 1.6 million times on Twitter.

That 5-word tweet is as good a Rorshach test as any for public assessment of the Tesla CEO. I agree with that tweet, some of you might respond — irrational panic, after all, probably does more harm than good and leads to unhelpful outcomes. Then again, others of you might regard the tweet as irresponsible, at a minimum, and that the brash billionaire is using the powerful megaphone of his Twitter account (which has almost 32 million followers) to spread the wrong kind of cautionary message we need right now. A reminder, per Reuters: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has now passed 100,000 across more than 90 countries. And more than 3,400 people have died.

  • Love is Blind, Netflix’s 10-part reality series in which participants try to see if they can fall in love with someone before they ever see them in-person, remains one of the most-watched TV series not only on Netflix but also every major streamer.
  • That’s according to Reelgood, which shared with us a look at the top series that people are bingeing the most right now on Netflix and other video-on-demand services.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

If you have been on the internet or Twitter at all over the past week or so, chances are you’ve come across posts, news articles, and references to Netflix’s just-ended, Bachelor-style reality show Love is Blind. The show, consisting of 10 parts as well as a reunion special and hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, was marketed as a kind of love experiment — a test to see if a group of people could fall in love after meeting each other sight-unseen. It’s one of those kinds of reality shows that plenty of fans have derided as trashy while in the same breath confessing they were utterly hooked by the show’s premise and could not stop watching.

For the last few weeks, the show has topped the list of the hottest streaming TV series that we share here each week — and, big surprise, Love is Blind is the #1 streaming series across the major services once again. Our ranking of the top series covers the week of February 27 to March 4 and comes as always via the team at streaming search engine Reelgood.
