Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is one of the hottest buzzwords in tech right now. Combine that with 5G, and you’ve got the perfect setup, and many of the new 2020 phones do feature both Wi-Fi 6 and 5G support. Of course, to actually take advantage of faster Wi-Fi data speeds, you also need a home router that supports Wi-Fi 6 and a great internet plan.

The same goes for 5G — you need coverage and proper infrastructure that can deliver high-speed internet. But wireless networks might be used in the future for more than fast data transmission if the organization that governs the development and evolution of Wi-Fi has its way.

Many of the planets in our solar system have multiple moons, and some even have dozens of large objects cruising around in orbit around them. Earth, by contrast, has just one large moon. Thanks to its solo nature, we even just call it “The Moon,” which is convenient, but that doesn’t mean that other natural objects couldn’t also get snagged by our planet’s gravity, and researchers think they might have just spotted a “mini moon” orbiting our planet.

The pint-sized object known as 2020 CD3 was acknowledged by the Minor Planet Center after being spotted during the NASA-led Catalina Sky Survey. At this point, it’s unclear exactly how long the rock will hang around, but for now, it’s Earth’s newest buddy.

However, it may have not been possible before, as this feature relies on deep learning algorithms to enhance user protection against a particularly fruitful attack from hackers.

You may have been advised over the years not to open email attachments that originate from unknown parties, and you may have heard how seemingly innocuous Office files turned out to contain malicious payloads capable of hacking the target’s machine. While most everyone anticipated that Disney+ would be popular, the extent of the streaming service’s success even caught a few Disney executives off guard. Bolstered by a huge catalog of familiar and beloved content, along with new programming like The Mandalorian, Disney+ struck like a lightning bolt when it initially launched in early November.

To this point, Disney+, just two weeks after launch, had already amassed an estimated 15 million subscribers. Most recently, former Disney CEO Bob Iger disclosed during an earnings conference call that the Disney+ subscriber total had eclipsed 28.6 million. Those figures are beyond impressive and prompted many to posit that Disney+ could prove to be a serious threat to Netflix’s ongoing streaming domination.

We’ve seen incredible upgrades in processing speeds, graphical power, and camera functionality on smartphones in recent years, but one of the features that repeatedly ends up at the top of the most-wanted list for many consumers is longer battery life. It is difficult to take advantage of all the improvements on your phone if the device is always on life support, which is why some of the biggest vendors in the market are thinking of making a major change.

IT Home reports that Apple, Huawei, OPPO, and Samsung all plan to use gallium nitride (GaN) technology for faster charging solutions. One paper even went as far as to claim that “this year, several manufacturers of the same size as Xiaomi will release GaN power adapters,” possibly referring to the vendors above.

Could Apple be thinking about releasing a GaN power adapter alongside the iPhone 12?

Apple held its annual shareholder meeting earlier today, an event that allows shareholders to ask Apple executives direct questions and vote on all types of issues pertinent to the company’s day-to-day business.

While nothing particularly groundbreaking transpired at today’s meeting, Tim Cook did touch on a number of interesting and wide-ranging issues. For instance, when the issue of TV programming was broached, Cook essentially said that Apple remains solely focused on original content, which is to say we won’t ever see Apple pay top dollar for familiar franchises like Friends or The Office.

Originating in China in December, the spread was initially slow, but things have changed dramatically in the weeks since its discovery. Now, with health officials around the world scrambling to respond, the outbreak has crossed a scary new milestone.

As NPR reports, new reports of confirmed viral infections inside China — which have been massive compared to elsewhere in the world in recent weeks — are now being outpaced by reports from outside of the country. That’s an important and potentially frightening development since it could signal a shift from China alone seeing the largest threat from the outbreak to COVID-19 becoming a true worldwide pandemic.
